MY REVIEW: I was excited to try Salud!, since nearly all of the reviews were very positive. As your server will inform you, Salud! is Houston's only winery. The interior is light and feels spacious for its size. There also is a patio for outdoor dining and smoking. We ordered glasses of the Cab Sauv, Syrah and Pinot Grigio, as well as a margherita pizza and cheese plate. In agreement with some of the previous posts, the group found their food to be tasty and light.

Contrary to my expectations (because of the previous reviews), I didn't love the wine. Each varietal we had was not bad per se, just thick (like they retained much of the grape juice character) and somewhat uncomplicated with little finish. Perhaps the wines are too young? I'm not a knowledgeable oenophile and wouldn't have minded the taste issues so much if it were not for the price points. I love the winery shtick, but don't feel that the product merits the $8-13 per glass price. Also, the service was quite slow.

Overall, I would go back to take the wine making class for fun, but, as much as I wanted to like Salud!, I would choose another venue for a night of enjoying wine and cheese.

Strong points: great concept, parking, pizzas, cheeses
Weak points: Price, slow service

MY REVIEW: Great place to hang out and have some wine, pretty good food too, reasonably priced on all accounts. Go in and do tastings, price of one glass, but you choose 3 and taste them, take notes on the stem markers for afterwards. I particularly liked the Old Vine Zin, a really good punch too it. The Salud Zin is great too, very dusty in nose and palatte. Had the charcuterie plate, good mix of salumi's and cheeses to compliment the flights we had. Definitely scheduling my batch making soon, and will be back often.

MY REVIEW: I LOVE to Italian Amarone! Dee-lish! Blackberrry, chocolate and dry. Yum! Plus, the food is delicious. Great menu - not too many options to make it difficult to choose and you know whatever you get will be a feast for your palate. I especially recommend the pizzas. The dough is thin and crisp on the edge, so you don't feel like you've stuffed yourself. All the ingredients are fresh and taste organic. I HIGHLY recommend Salud!

MY REVIEW: We have gone to Salud just to eat and have a glass of wine before meeting friends elsewhere (that we don't care eat). Their new lunch /appetizer menu is just enough to get you through but not to heavy. The wait staff is always attentive and helpful in the proper wine selections. we have purchased wine for friends leaving Texas as something to take with them. We live an hour away so coming into town just for a glass of wine and light meal is big deal. we are truely looking forward to making our own wine soon!!!

MY REVIEW: Super place to hang out after work, or go chill on a Sunday. The wine is delicious, especially the Italian Amarone (my favourite), and it's so cool that you can make your own wine and label. Also, a great place to organize a social gathering at. And the food is delicious too!!!

MY REVIEW: We had a lot of fun at this place. An association I belong to had their membership mixer here and it was ideal. The gave us a 50% off ticket on our first drink and for some of us, even on our second. They provided appetizers that were very tasty, including Brie (or Brie like cheese) with chutney type sauces on top and nuts (pecans on one; macadamia nuts on the other) to the side. The offered bread and crackers, and the bread was really fresh. They also had a pastrami/proscuittio (sp.) appetizer. Let's just say we all went back for seconds and maybe thirds. I tried their New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc based on a description of the wine - and although it was not like any Sauvignon Blanc I had ever had from New Zealand (there's was a very golden color - not like any Sauvignon Blanc I have ever had from anywhere), I enjoyed trying it and liked it enough to have a second glass. My only "wine" comment would be that they need to list the region the wine is from as New Zealand is a darn big place. The place was very roomy, so people were able to mix and mingle in several different areas. They had some nice wine decanters and other wine accessories for sale. My only negative comment would be their chairs - not comfortable! It is not easy to sit up straight in them and the back of the chairs lean too far back to sit comfortably. In summary - everyone I talked to that night really enjoyed this place.

MY REVIEW: I was very excited to go to this new place, since it is close to my home. VERY disappointing. The staff was inattentive, even though there was maybe 2 other tables. The owners arrived with a huge party of friends, and the entire staff (and the owners) basically ignored everyone else in the place. If you're going to do that, please do it after-hours. It felt completely unprofessional and plain rude. We had to ask for water and for the bill repeatedly. Even then, it literally took almost 30 mins to get the bill. Ridiculous, especially for a new place.

To top it off, the wine I wanted was not available!

MY REVIEW: I would highly recommend this wonderful and quaint winery. It caters to your tastebuds and offers delicious cheeses and bread. They ferment their own wine and have a process whereby you can create your own specially made case of wine for friends, family, or your own personal winery. I HIGHLY recommend it.
