MY REVIEW: Had the tacos cochonitas, they come with chopped pork and red cabbage (no onions pickled in something purple as the below review says). Good food and nice waitress. Clean too. Try the hamburger. It is awesome!

MY REVIEW: second and third visits just as good as first although service seems to suffer badly when owners are not present (on second visit waitress got my order wrong badly after I was very specific in Spanish and English what i wanted). Third visit I found out that by popular demend the menu will soon be reduced to mainly just the wonderful tacos that Maggie and husband Juan make. The bright side of this is that there will be more tacos added to the menu. I had the tacos cochanitas (I may have the spelling wrong) and they were to die for. Handmade corn tortillas with finely chopped pork topped with onions pickeld in something that gives them a purple tint and a nice salty flavour that is perferctly conplimentary to the pork. I really like this place. Can't wait to do a spring or summer evening out on the patio with friends and beers !!

MY REVIEW: Wow!! I am still not quite believing this place. Not a big fancy place or nothing like that, but what a great restaurant experience!!
I drove by yesterday and saw it for the first time. I was drawn in by the funky sort of "Austin style" look of the open air patio. Very authentically mexican looking environment. I decided to check it out today for lunch.
We drove up and got a better look and it is a very festive place. There is a patio with small booths and a nicely manicured open air garden area landscaped with natural stone and a 360 round bar in the back. It was a little too chilly so we opted for the smallish indoor dining area.
We are pretty gringo looking so the woman who brought the menus over started (who, it turns out was Maggie, the owner) telling us what all the menu items were in English. This turned out to be a great help because even with my above average command of white boy spanish there were several unfamiliar items that I'd never heard of. I opted for the tacos trompos (which seems to be a specialty) and my wife ordered chili rellenos de queso.
The tacos trompos were a real treat a plate full of 3" homemade corn tortillas covered with scrumpious slices of savory seasoned beef /pork slices garnished with grilled onion and a lime wedge on the side. It rocked!! delicioso!
Maggie, (who operates the place with her husband and son, luis) came back from the kitchen and announced that she was out of the rellenos and offered to cook up something special for my wife (spelled vegetarian) as a substitute. What came out was a totally unexpected plate of delicious white cheese enchiladas unlike anything I've ever tasted on a plate with rice (seasoned with something that drives you crazy trying to guess which spice it is) that would stand on it's own and refritos the way I like them (chunky and dark) All for a very reasonable price.
It's only my first visit, but I was so enchanted with the "not your typical boring tex-mex glop" food, service and personal touches that I will be back to visit this little treasure again. There are several things on the menu that sound good and I am anxious to try. It's obvious that Maggie is no ordinary cook and this is no ordinary cafe. Try it, you'll be pleased
