MY REVIEW: I heard a lot of hype about this restaurant so I came to b4-u-eat to check out the reviews and recommendations of dishes. I went, excited but was actually disappointed. People said the environment is modern, but I felt it was an attempt to be modern. It looked sloppy and very "Asian" yes, I know its an Asian restauant but I EXPECTED something better. THey have advertisements on tables which I find is very, NON modern and sloppy. They also have a number of flyers/ads on the window by the door. Very tacky!
As for the food, I went both during lunch and dinner. The lunch crowd was very small but when I came the second time around during dinner, it was packed. I will praise them on their drinks...they have a wide selection. If you don't finish your drink, they'll place the rest in a to-go cup for you so don't force yourself to drink it if you can't. I ordered pork chops and my friend ordered the chicken nugget, which arent actually "chicken nuggets" it is basically fried chicken strips Asian style. If you like spicy food, be sure to ask them to make it spicy. Its good but nothing out of the ordinary. Our meats were made in the same batter, so it tasted the same.
As for the wait staff, I noticed that people praised the "eye candy" and I would have to disagree. Just a warning to those who expect hot chicks.

MY REVIEW: I have been coming to this resturant for sometime now, and I have yet to grow bored of their menu. They have a nice variety of Chinese, Japanese and Korean dishes. So whatever you are in the mood for, you can probably find it here. Try the salt and pepper soft shell crab, nice spicy kick. The drinks here is what makes Cafe 101 a place to go . Their selection is so huge, it makes it hard to pick. My favorite is the Mango wonder. They do get busy sometime, but being able to check out the wait staff makes it all good.
Oh, the decor and atmosphere is great for hanging out and chilling with friends, we all recommend this place. Agree with the other poster, the decor here is the best in Chinatown. So tired of eating under typical white flouresant lights.

MY REVIEW: This was our first visit to 101, which has been open for over a year now. The ambiance is modern and trendy. The place is decorated almost like a nightclub or bar. They play dance and hip-hop music, although not too loud. It seems that 101 is attempting to target the younger, yuppie crowd. However, older folks (like us) can still enjoy it.
The menu says "Chinese and Japanese Cuisine", and it seems to live up to that. My wife (who is Chinese) says the Chinese dishes on the menu slant towards Taiwanese influences. We ordered the Szechwan chicken, fried tofu, and satay noodles with shredded pork. The chicken was very spicy but the noodles were rather bland. The highlight was the tofu, which was very tasty. We also had a ginger tea (hot) which was good too. The prices are not too outrageous compared to other nearby restaurants in Chinatown. Our bill was under $30, including tip.
Our waitress was a new employee but she was very friendly and attentive. Our food was delivered extremely fast to our table. Overall, this was a great dining experience and we will go back again. We recommend 101 as a good place for taking a date.

MY REVIEW: The service is good, but not consistent. Some waitresses are awesome, and some are bad, but we come here so often we know who to ask for.
The atmosphere and the drinks are the real reason to go here. They have the best drinks, even if they are the most expensive Tapioca drinks in town. You really do pay more for the decor than the drinks and such themselves.
The food is ok. The person before me nailed it, most of the dishes do taste the same. They are good, but the differences are subtle, the plus side is the medley of sides that come with most of the dishes. The sides vary weekly, I'd say, and so does the mini dessert that comes with almost every meal.
Sushi is... well, it's way too pricey for what it is. You're better off at H*okkaido. It's cheaper AND it tastes better.

MY REVIEW: good presentation, but everything taste either the same or very bland. fried dishes are very greasy. fish is overfried in a thick batter and soaked in a very sweet sauce that is way too sweet and entirely overpowered the fish taste. Soup is average and bit cold.
will not go again.

MY REVIEW: We love this place! The beef noodle soup is so true to taste... one of the most authentic here in Texas. We've ordered several other dishes and it's all good! Really can't go wrong with any of the items on the menu. And the "dessert" is a great way to end the meal... just enough to satisfy the sweet tooth in all of us, but not enough to push you over the edge from finishing the entire delicious meal.

MY REVIEW: Definitely interesting menu, ranged from Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese and some Korean. The pre-fixed meal is not shabby, the 'sides' are a little 'interesting' w/ beansprouts, broccoli, and egg. Those aren't your standard sides. The price is not bad, definitely not the cheap Chinese people are used to in Chinatown, but you're eating the decor and ambiance. There is a vast list of drink list (all non-alcoholic) and everything can be Boba-fied. I'll go back, food was good, service wasn't bad, and the hip decor makes it worth while.

MY REVIEW: This place is awesome!! It has the best interior decor in Chinatown hands down, kind of like a lounge setting. It has a very comfortable atmosphere with cool music playing at the background. The food is prepared and placed in very nice plates and bowls. Price might be a little expensive than other chinese restaurants in that area, but very well worth it. They have hot pot, taiwanese food, chinese food, sushi, noodles, and lots of tasty drinks. I would highly recommend this place.

MY REVIEW: Delicate atmosphere attracts young folks like us. Bartender's special drinks are unique. well~~~ price for relatively higher than other Chinese restaurants in this area, but it's worthy dining in this place w/ relaxed atmosphere, decoration, neat silverware and food. I am fed up with the greasy plates at other places. Service was slow but it's improved lately. food is authentic Taiwanese taste. good to try.

MY REVIEW: Pretty good Taiwanese food (pork chop rice, beef noodle soup, chicken nuggets). Nice decor, hip music.
The waitstaff could use some improving (not too polite).
The prices are a bit high for Chinatown, too. I think the cheapest drink on the menu was $4. Beef noodle soup was $6.50. You could go across the street to S*antong Snacks for a bigger portion for $4.50.
