MY REVIEW: The wine selection was good entire page of white, entire page of red plus some 'specialty stuff'. I would say that the food menu is sorely lacking, can definitely boost a tad more. I mean, man cannot live on cheese and meat and nuts alone with good wine. A little tapas would've been perfect.
The space is interesting in that it tries really hard to have the old building feeling, but the outside has all been re-done. But, I was told it was a dry cleaning place previously, which is neat to itself. The bathroom was interesting, the toilet has a water-saving mode and a non, so you can push either button to flush. And just love the handwashing sink, very neat. I know, how can I be impressed by a bathroom? Well, try the one at A*mericas, I'm impressed by that one too.

MY REVIEW: 13 Celsius is by far the best wine bar in Houston and I have been to quite a few. The staff is always friendly and eager to please. I have been here many times and have never had bad service. Their wine selection is extensive, changes regularly, and from what I can tell is not outrageously marked up. The atmosphere is charming and reminds me of wine bars I have visited in Europe. There is not an extensive food menu but the selection cheeses and meats are excellent quality. They also have some imported beers and an espresso bar. Best of all...red wine at the correct temperature! Why is this so hard for Houston restaurants and bars to learn? Who wants a glass of Cabernet from a bottle that has reached room temperature in Houston TX?
Regarding whether it is quiet and laid back or crowded and noisy, that really depends on what night you go. Sunday through Wednesday you will find it less crowded and therefore you will likely get more attention and individual service. On Thursday it starts to heat up and Fridays and Saturdays it can be quite crowded as are all the other places in Midtown. They also do special events and tastings periodically here, so if you happen by on one of those nights of course you may experience a crowd. Having lived in Midtown now for almost 3 years, this is by far the best addition to the neighborhood.

MY REVIEW: This was our first time there and it was very nice. They won points when they noticed that my friend was cold and offered to turn up the heat, which they promptly did. A very extensive list of wines and an older young crowd made it a good place to visit. From the previous reviews, I was expecting a more toned down/quieter place with everyone having quiet conversation. Perhaps it was the good sized crowd, but it was louder than expected. However, it was not loud like other places in midtown and you could still hold a nice conversation using your indoor voice. Word of advice: do not come here hungry unless you want to fill up on fancy cheese and meats. One of the previous reviews mentions that they were going to serve paninis, but the menu I saw last night only offered meats and cheeses. I would still go again to enjoy an extensive list of wine choices and a pleasant conversation with a friend.

MY REVIEW: Loved it! The owner gave us very special attention, the bartender learned our names, and the service was fabulous. Excellent choices on the wine list, with some being quite reasonable in price. My favorite white wine was several dollars cheaper than at another wine bar in town.
Every appetizer is exceptional (we have tried them all). We will be returning many times...

MY REVIEW: Great Atmosphere - Better wine list than the competing wine bars. They alos serve the wine at the correct temperature! Our cheese plate was excellent. I think this place is great!

MY REVIEW: Great place although a bit difficult to get to (if you're not entirely sure where you're going). Quiet location is a plus. Inside decor is fun and comforting. The high ceilings definitely make the place feel larger than it really is. Wine selection is fantastic with many many choices to choose from. Price range varies. Cheese and meat selections are fantastic. I heard paninis are available too. After 7:30 13 Celsius starts to get packed, get there early for a good seat either on the plush leather couches or stylish bistro style chairs. Plenty of room at the bar too.

MY REVIEW: This place is unlike any place in Houston. I felt like I was back in Europe. The wine list is amazing and the food is perfect. I almost didn't write this review because I really would rather keep this place quiet. But I'd love to see more places like this in Houston -- it's real.

MY REVIEW: Love the ambiance. The food is amazing! The cheese plates are to die for and we had the smoked salmon last night and can't wait to go back and have it again. The service is outstanding and the wines are fantastic. Will definitely be a regular at this new hot spot!

MY REVIEW: Not "officially" open yet, but owner has opened the doors early to start learning the ropes. Very nice, minimalist, European inspired design in a rehabilitated old dry cleaners. Owner has preserved the old patina and charm of this 1930s(?) building, a novelty in Houston.
Excellent wines, cool ambiance. Friendly and polished. Plans to offer breakfast and light lunches during the day, but snacks available with wine. A surprisingly well-thought-out shop.
