MY REVIEW: I have eaten lunch and dinner at Polo's. The last two times for lunch have been average at best. The location is convenient as it is on 59 in the Greenway Plaza area. The decor of the restaurant is also nice. Service for lunch on the last two occasions has been slow. Waiters appear stretched too thin. My salmon ($16.95) was overcooked and small. Poor value. The side dish was vegetables and also were scant.

MY REVIEW: I have been wanting to try Polo's - I finally got the chance and I was not disappointed at all. The service was wonderful (we had one glitch with an order, but everything else was so great it seemed ok), attentive but not overly so. The bread that they put on the table before the meal was excellent. The ceasar salad and the crab cakes were appetizer highlights. I had the filet and it was wonderful as well. Desserts weren't the highlight of the meal, but the key lime pie was excellent. I would definitely recommend Polo's and hope to return somewhere in the near future.

MY REVIEW: I'm not sure what restaurant the previous reviewer (JPW) went to. He almost sounds like a disgruntled ex-employee. Maybe some diners can never be happy.

Anyway, this was our 3rd visit to Polo's Signature and I have to say it's become one of our favorite restaurants for a cozy, more upscale restaurant.

LOCATION: It is very centrally located off the SW freeway, minutes from just about everywhere in the metro area. Please don't waste your money on valet parking. There is tons of parking in the lot, just feet away from where the valet will put your.

ATMOSPHERE: The dining room is incredible! The lighting is perfect for a cozy meal. We usually sit along the tables that are half booth, half table. It's a great spot since you are out of the main traffic paths. Each time we have been there they featured live piano music. A perfect addition to an otherwise great setting. I'm not sure you would ever need a reservation but you should call just in case.

SERVICE: On the first 2 visits, our service was wonderful. On the third visit we did feel a little neglected as our waiter was covering a large party. Did notice that the manager came by our table on a number of occasions to see how we were doing.

FOOD: The food is very upscale with creative combinations of flavors. You start with a pate which is very good. The breads are warm and fresh. They claim the chopped caesar salad is "famous". I'm not sure where it would be famous but it is one of the best I have ever had. We have also ordered the nantucket spinach salad which is out of this world. Our main courses have included sesame crusted ahi tuna, roasted airline lemon peppered chicken and the grilled salmon. All have generous portions.

OVERALL: You can sometimes purchase gift certificates from a local radio station making this a "steal" of a meal. Even without the gift certificate, this is a wonderful, upscale and romantic restaurant in the genre of M*arks but a much lower price and quieter environment.

MY REVIEW: First visit - won't return

Decor - Very nice
Service - Terrible, we had to send back one entree since he got it wrong, had to return one soup since it was missing the ingredients listed.
Food - Forgetable, Had the Mediterrean Salad, way too much dressing (swimming in it) , Meat cooked like leather
Coffee - Terrible
Bread and Butter - Great

MY REVIEW: Polo’s is located in the Greenway area, in a new strip center on the Southwest Freeway, a block or so west of what use to be the Compaq Center and now is Lakeside Church. From outside you probably would not imagine there is an upscale restaurant inside this center. Upon entering Polo’s, you leave the city hustle and noise behind, it is like entering a small oasis. Inside, we are always greeted immediately upon entering. To the right of the entrance is a very interesting, modernistic looking bar area. The back walls and shelves of the bar are decorated with colorful bottles and items. It appears that this bar has caught on quickly, as every time we visited Polo’s there have been a good number of people inside enjoying themselves.

Polo’s is tastefully decorated in white with accent lighting that softly changes colors throughout the bar and restaurant. Inside the dining area, the white table clothed tables are nicely spaced apart allowing easy transit through the restaurant. The kitchen is located along the back wall of the restaurant and is small but seems very efficient. From most tables you can see the Chefs working away. On the opposite side of the restaurant from the bar is the piano where a piano player plays easy listening music.

As the Maitre’d seats us, napkins are placed in our laps, water glasses filled and a small plate of pâté with toast points is brought to the table. Next, a superb variety of small fresh and hot rolls, some a cross between a biscuit and a savory scone, are brought to the table with a wonderfully flavored compound butter.

I am not a wine connoisseur, but one of our guests definitely is, and he was quite impressed with Polo’s wine list. The prices on the wines were not out of line either.

So far, my guests and I have fully enjoyed the “Polo’s” Caesar salad and the Roasted Pear Salad with Stilton Cheese and Pomegranate Vinaigrette dressing (my favorite of them all). I have also tried the seafood gumbo, which was probably was the only thing that was not a favorite of mine. We have had various appetizers from shrimp empanadas to fried soft shell crab, and they are all great.

On a visit I had the Chilean Sea Bass with Crawfish Risotto in a Lobster Cognac Sauce. Perfectly cooked and delicious! I have also tried the whole de-boned oven roasted snapper with a dynamite cumin sauce. On another visit I had a special which was a whole de-boned flounder with a crab meat sauce topping. Polo’s knows how to make great Lamb Chops too. These chops were served with the classiest macaroni and cheese you will ever eat. This all American classic was pasta with Gouda Cheese and Pancetta. Not your typical mac and cheese!

It seems we really like the fish dishes, but there are a lot of other items on the menu, ranging from steaks, duck, lamb, etc. It’s a real sophisticated menu. Desserts are great too. My favorites are the bread pudding with pineapple, the crème brulee, the carrot cake, and everything else on the dessert tray looks great!

After our meals we have had time to visit with the Chefs. We have met Chef Adam, Chef Jose, Chef Sean, and of course Polo himself. These guys know how to cook!

Food is great, prices good, and it is a beautiful restaurant. We already have plans to come back again. Reviewer “X” gives Polo’s his seal of approval and his best rating of 10 stars!

MY REVIEW: Upscale restaurant. Tables were set far enough apart to be able to hear. Services was good; the group of five us had the crab cakes (2 smaller cakes to a serving) but very good, lamb enchiladas were disappointing very heavy tasting, pear salad, small but good. The sea bass and steaks were very good. The appt. run $6 to $13, the entrees are in the mid $20's but are accompanied by side dishes on your plate.

We all passed on dessert. Our average bill per person was $45 -$55 with tip and one drink. Avoided the valet per eariler email.

MY REVIEW: A beautiful, asthetically-pleasing, fine dining restaurant - I wish Polo (of Post Oak G*rill fame) lots of luck with this new endeavor. My group of three shared the crab cake appetizer which was delicious and beautifully presented. We all had fish entress - I had the sea bass which was cooked to perfection and was a good sized portion too. The wine list was comprehensive. My only gripe was the parking. I could have parked anywhere in the huge parking lot but the valet beckoned me forward and as I had not been there before I left my car with him. Upon leaving he brought my car and I was going to tip him $3 but he said that valet parking was $5 - I do not recall seeing any signage to this effect and think it was a rip off - especially after having an expensive dinner!

MY REVIEW: I took a friend to see the new restaurant. The food is different from his other restaurant, Po*st Oak Gri*ll, but just as good. My lunch was a seafood medley salad. It was brought on a square plate with the salad greens wrapped up in a cucumber. The seafood was very generous, hot and delicious. It had two crisp but not breaded shrimp, 2 or 3 crabcakes, 3-4 scallops, a little portion of tuna. I had to share it with my friend. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and convenient to downtown.
