Pho One Vietnamese Restaurant

MY REVIEW: My wife and I went there recently as we had not been there in a long time. To be honest, we were quite disappointed. We ordered spring rolls and the chicken soup. The portions have definitely gotten smaller since our last visit and the vegetable toppings that accompany the soup did not look very fresh. The broth tasted good but the amount of chicken has been reduced also. Our waiter never came back to check if everything was OK nor did he offer to refill our water glasses. He was too busy visiting some other customers that appeared to be his friends. There are too many good Vietnamese restaurants in town, we won't be back to this one.

MY REVIEW: I know this place is Pho One, but as I'm not a big fan of Pho, I can't review that. I have had their bun, which is a Vietnamese veggie/noodle/meat dish, and it is excellent. Their spring rolls are wonderful - both the fried Imperial rolls and the large variety of spring rolls with warm peanut sauce. Sandwiches are excellent, too.

The staff has always been extremely friendly and the food is delivered quickly to your table. If I am having it to go, they invite me to sit down and have a glass of ice water while I wait, which is never for long.

The dining room decor is not very exciting, but the restaurant is clean and well-kept. I highly recommend Pho One.

MY REVIEW: This place is the best ever, I go here once a week. The food here is very tasty, fresh, and delicious. The service is great, friendly, fast, and clean. I always have the spring rolls and the verimacelli salad with the pork, also the po boy with pork very, very, great. I really recommend it.

MY REVIEW: I've had pho all my life and have been on a search for the best pho restaurant in Houston. Being Vietnamese myself, I've had pho from places in Texas, California and even Vietnam so I can confidently say I know a thing or two about Vietnamese food.

The good:
Service around lunchtime was very warm and welcoming. Very well kept and clean. Server was prompt and friendly. Menu had very good variety. What made it stand out was the wider variety of springrolls and the inclusion of Vietnamese sandwiches. The springrolls were very fresh and taste as if they were made right after you ordered them. The bean sprout and basil were very fresh and crisp. Also the hoisin sauce and chili paste were also of good quality. If you're an avid pho eater you'll know these are the key ingredients that accompany a good bowl of pho.

The bad:
To politely put it, the pho it self was mediocre at best. I ordered an extra large pho tai bo vien (medium rare beef with meatballs). What came out was just a big bowl of broth with some meat floating at the top. There was hardly any noodle. I've experianced this same tactic before at a few other restaurants so it wasn't completely suprising. Onward to the taste. Again something mediocre at best. The soup itself lacked flavor, very watered down almost bland. With such a great start off, I left very disappointed.

If you eat pho occasionally or just started out eating Vietnamese food this place isn't bad at all. Pho veterans beware, if its just pho you're looking for go else where.

MY REVIEW: I go to Pho One at least once a week and on occasion more as I work nearby. Simply put this is some of the best food I have ever had. While I normally order the imperial egg rolls and a bowl of pho tai with an iced jasmine tea, the other food that I have ventured to try on occassion was equally good. The staff is extremely friendly, the service is great, and the restaurant is always very clean. I cannot understand any of the bad reviews on this website.

MY REVIEW: This place is unofficially the best Pho place in Houston. FINALLY, someplace where you can get GREAT pho, a YUMMY vietnamese-style sandwich, BEEF (yes, I said beef for my fellow non-pork eaters) spring rolls, and TASTY tofu fried-rice all at the SAME restuarant!!!! and doesn't require driving down a very congested Bellaire.

I don't know what the person who wrote the bad review was tasting, but I think their taste buds are out of whack.

The food at Pho One is great, between my best friend and I, we've tasted almost everything on the menu TWICE. I love drinking their jasmine tea, preferably hot but the iced is just as satisfying. On days when I need a bit of a pick me up, the coffee w/ condensed milk does the trick, or when I need a sugar rush the coconut flavored flan is ready and waiting.

The owners are SUPER nice and friendly, always there to greet you with a smile. So whenever you get a chance or get a craving for really great food at a good price definitely go to PHO ONE!!!!

MY REVIEW: Had a craving for Pho Beef Noodle Soup and decided to try out the new place since close by. Started out with an order of Grilled Pork Spring Rolls. WOW they were great! Very Fresh and tasty. (That was the high point of the visit)

For the meal I ordered the Beef Pho Noodle Soup. The worst Pho I ever had. For a place that specializes in Pho, it was very bad. The meat was really really tough and the soup was very bland (Almost like instant soup). The noodles were good but I dont think you can go wrong with packaged noodles. Overall the Pho places on Bellaire are MUCH MUCH better. I rather drive the extra 5 mins and go down Bellaire.

Also the portions were very small for a "Regular" size. And the price for the "Regular" size was almost $2 more than on Bellaire. At least for $6 on Bellaire you get almost double the size of Beef Noodle Soup and tastes much better! The family that works there is very friendly and the service was great. The food was not. I would only return for the Spring Rolls NOT the Pho Noodle Soup.

MY REVIEW: Of the many places along Westheimer, Pho One offers the best cuisine in vietnamese cooking. The owner and staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

The Vietnamese Beef noodle soup, especially the Chicken Noodle soup, is excellent - made with fresh broth, tender meat/chicken, and fresh vegetables.

I highly recommended trying the Vietnamese Chicken Salad.

MY REVIEW: The food served there is very tasty and pho is simply Great !! they make good sandwiches too!

the restaurant is clean, staff friendly and always there when you need something.

I am very surprised by the negative review posted before! Does he know good food or is he only looking for salty supersize meal ?? if so, there's plenty of fast food down the street...because i'm always plenty when i get out from there and i weight almost 200 pds...

I 'm wondering if it is a review by a good food connoisseur or if it's just a jealous Pho owner advertising for it's own Restaurant...(go to xxxxx it's not so far and it's better etc etc...)

MY REVIEW: Really BAD pho. small portions and very flavorless. i was certainly not impressed by this place at all. Le V*iet is a little further down the road and is 50 times better.

MY REVIEW: well maybe they dont know my name, but they know my face!! LOL i order the same thing everytime i go... beef spring rolls w/peanut sauce and the pho soup...beef, medium rare. i go at least once a week... usually its twice a week though. LOL

i totally recommend you to try it out at least once!! OH YEAH! order the hot jasmin tea (if its cold outside) and the jasmin tea w/lime juice (if its hot outside)... it adds to the meal!

I LOVE their Pho Beef and spring rolls with peanut sauce. Very clean environment. I usually take it to go. They pack it very nice and neat and nothing spills before getting back to the office.

I've been going back every since. I love it! A+++++ service.

MY REVIEW: A very welcome addition to the westchase area. Finally I no longer have to drive over to Bellaire to get a good bowl of Pho. Very friendly service and good quality food. The have a large menu but the pho is so good that I've never tried anything else. Highly reccomended!

MY REVIEW: Very friendly staff and super-fresh food!!! They are new in the area of Wilcrest/Westheimer. They could add some personality in the decorations...But, do you want great food or an eye-appealing restaurant? I work near their restaurant and I must say the food is very fresh, served hot, and fast service...Give this place a try, you'll be surprised in the quality and prices!

MY REVIEW: My husband and I love this resturant. We go there a lot. Everyone goes out of the way to make your visit comfortable. The food is delicious and healthy. My daughter is allergic to milk. I requested them to make soy flan, and they made it for us. I can't ask for anything more. The place is very clean and you don't smell like food when you come out.
