Food

Craiganale's Little Italy (CLOSED)

 2704 Smith St Houston TX

MY REVIEW: I lived in Jersey and know great Italian and this is it. We have been a here 5 times and have never been disappointed. From Ricky's vinagrette to all the entrees - every thing is flavorful and portions are generous. Definitely worth adding to anyone's list.

MY REVIEW: Although this restaurant is easy to miss, the food is definitely worth a stop!! Located just past S*pec's on the left, the dining room is small, and the decor could be a little better, but don't let that fool you. The food is fantatic!

We have had most of the appetizers, which were all wonderful, but standouts are the calamari and toasted ravioli!!

Entrees we have loved are the chicken piccata, spaghetti & meatballs, chicken marsala, and the meatball sandwich. The pasta even tastes homemade!

They also have a small but well chosen wine list, and you can find a decent glass for about $6. Overall, the food here is excellent, especially considering the reasonable prices!! Make the trip, and you won't regret it.

MY REVIEW: Great Italian food, and I am Italian, I just cant' eat any where. I had spaghetti and sausage, it was like momma used to make, I went here for lunch, just a short walk from downtown.

MY REVIEW: Strong Points - Love this place for lunch. I work in mid-town and whenever I am looking for a quiet, calm, nice place to have lunch or meet with friends - this is it! I have had several of their pasta sauces - red, alfredo, and pesto, and found them all nicely done. In fact, I have happy with everything I have tried on their menu. Their Garlic bread is especially wonderful - especially with cheese. The people that work there are also extremely nice and the chef is willing to make changes when requested, if possible. The ambiance is quiet and understated. Noting special about the decor - I would say that is the main weakness.

MY REVIEW: Strong points - wonderful food at a great price. Entrees average in price from $10-15. I had the trio, which was described in the previous review, and I too echo the fact that this dish was good. I was with a party of four and we had calamari and french bread as an appetizer. The calamari was excellent!! You can bring your own wine in, which is always a plus.

Things to consider - this is a small restaurant, so trying to get in during the weekend could be challenging. My visit was on a Tuesday evening at 7:30pm, every table was full, with the exception of the one they were cleaning off as we walked in. Not sure if they take reservations, but something to consider. Atmosphere is nothing special. You are definately going to this place for the food, not for the wow factor.

MY REVIEW: The food is GREAT! I have had the “trio” which includes lasagna, spaghetti and fettuccini alfredo. I have also had the Greek salad and the “sampler platter” which has a variety of every type of appetizer! Everything I have had has been so good! AND- they don’t have their beer/wine license yet, so bring in your favorite bottle of wine!!!!!
