MY REVIEW: Whoa! I was very surprised to read some of the comments on Dosey Doe! I am there often, and I think the service and the food are TOPS! My husband and I were there for our anniversary on July 15th with SIX friends all the way up from Houston, and every guest commented on how delicious their food was! I was NOT the "hostess;" they paid for their own meals, so there was no reason for them to comment on thei food except that it WAS great!
We had everything from Chicken Fried Steak, Fish and Chips, Hill Country Salad, House Salad with grilled chicken and huge cheeseburgers; and everything was GREAT! Even the red house wine was wonderful! I have eaten at least 6 meals at Dosey Doe, and I have enjoyed every one. The waitstaff are ALWAYS helpful, attentive, and speedy; thus, after reading one PARTICULAR review I am compelled to ask that PARTICULAR reviewer please not to EVER disgrace the name of my wonderful alma mater by signing an uncomplimentary review with its name. Kindly have the intestinal fortitude to sign your OWN name!!! I am an LSU Tiger as well, and am obviously a LOT PROUDER of LSU than YOU are!

MY REVIEW: I try to take my family to Dosey Doe for breakfast every Sunday after church. Unlike other breakfast restaurants in The Woodlands, there's no wait at Dosey Doe because it's so big. The atmosphere blows all the competition out of the water. My kids love the barn atmosphere, they always want to go there. The food, coffee, and service are great. They roast the coffee fresh so it often smells like a true coffeeshop. We are big fans of this place!

MY REVIEW: Great, wonderful, beautiful, delicious, truely original and the best coffee in the universe! My family came in for breakfast and can't wait to come back to see Sisters Morales! Go for the Belgian Waffle and the Country Breakfast as they are the best we ever had. Truely one of a kind dining experience that we will do over and over.

MY REVIEW: I was so excited after reading a glowing review of this restaurant in The Woodlands Newspaper. My husband,2 kids and I went there for breakfast around 10:00AM on a Sunday,(it was not crowded) we walked in and sat down, no one came to give us a menu or acknowledge we were there until I waived at a waiter. Needless to say the rest of the service was down hill from there. Not only did I have to wave, beg and plead for refills of so-so coffee that I thought was supposed to be so fabulous, but we could barely get anyone to take our order. We are not picky people and I have never complained about service before. When we received our breakfast (after about 45 minutes to an hour later, which would have been fine if it was good), my eggs were greasy, the bacon was burnt, the round sausage seemed to come straight out of a frozen section of the grocery store (from scratch, highly doubtful) one of my son's pancakes was burnt and the delicious home fried potatoes mixed with green pepper were cold (and hardly any on my plate to boot).I also had to remind the "waiter" that he did not bring us our toast, syrup for pancakes or jam and butter for the toast. So you can guess we will definitely never go to this place again. The sad thing was there were plenty of waitstaff there, but they were completely unorganized. Most of the other dining patrons around us were just as annoyed and neglected from waitstaff as well.

MY REVIEW: I was one of the very fortunate to see Larry Gatlin, Michael Martin Murphy, and Leon Russell when each performed at Dosey Doe. Each night was magical. All of the artists said the same thing: that they loved playing there because of how great the room sounded and looked! They all played way past their schedule and the patrons simply would not let them leave. I have all of their autographs to prove it! THANK YOU, STEVE & JOAN AND ALL OF YOUR STAFF FOR THE WONDERFUL ENTERTAINMENT AND FOOD YOU BRING TO OUR AREA!!!!

MY REVIEW: I went to the Seventies party on March 22, 2008. The Level One band was fantastic, the dance floor was packed from the first song through the last.
This is what The Woodlands has been lacking for so long... a really good venue that has excellent food, great music, good drinks, good coffee and an atmosphere that is both fun and relaxing. (If you are from Houston and wondering if this place will be worth the drive, let me reassure you... it will!)
Some menu features for the night: Grilled Atlantic Salmon, Spiced Double Pork Chop and Chicken Fried Steak. For lighter fare: Hill Country Salad and Salmon.
I had the Hill Country Salad. The salad was made of baby greens, Raspberries, Toasted Almonds and Dried Cherries and was topped with Raspberry-Chipotle Vinaigrette, and Cranberry Walnut Croutons. I never knew that salads could be so good. It's nice to be able to go out and eat a salad and not feel like I am being punished.
The aroma of the roasting coffee beans is absolutely intoxicating, and the coffee drinks do not disappoint.
Steve and Joan Said have done it again. Way to Go!

MY REVIEW: Dosey Doe Delicious! I had been two several of their live entertainment shows such as Marcia Ball and Slaid Cleaves but this was my first visit for lunch. I had the pot roast and it was the best I have ever had. I could not eat it all and took the rest in a to go box which was enough for another wonderful meal! Can't wait until they upon their first satellite shop as their coffee is simply the very best I have ever had. I have my reservations for Grammy Nominated Billy Joe Shaver and Leon Russell. What a wonderful place to get a way!

MY REVIEW: I was very surprised when I read LSUtigers critique of the restaurant since every time I have gone there, while they may sporadically have slightly slow service (which is to be expected when things are made from scratch), I have always experienced great food. Their lunch specials are perfect and not any pricier than other local lunch specials, plus, more food usually than can be finished. If you want a tasty filling lunch, go to Dosey Doe; if you are looking for a cheap eat, go join the other dollar menunaires at m*cdonald's. I already have my reservations in for several upcoming dinner shows!
p.s. if you look at their website, their "sunday" menu by the "hours of operation" declares "breakfast only".
Can't wait to go back!

MY REVIEW: DOSEY DISAPPOINTMENT! My husband and I have been to Dosey Does twice, once several months ago to see live music, and once yesterday. The live music was fun, however, we didn't realize that the place shuts down at 10:00 pm. Dinner was also offered, however, it is quite pricey. Our second visit was yesterday with my elderly father. I looked on-line in advance to see if lunch was being served on Sunday, and found that their menu gives a "Daily" lunch special. Upon arriving, I asked for a lunch menu, received it, then ordered lunch only to be told a few minutes later by the waitress "Sorry I didn't realize that we didn't serve lunch on Sundays. We only serve breakfast on Sundays". Normally, this wouldn't be too upsetting, however, everyone was in the mood for lunch, and moving my father to another restaurant was quite inconvenient since he uses oxygen. I wish they would be clear on their website!!! I doubt that we will ever go to this restaurant again.

MY REVIEW: The atmosphere is very unique and charming. A group went there for lunch. The food took a while to arrive, but when it came, it was worth the wait. All in the group were quite satisfied with the quality food, cooked fresh to our orders. I enjoyed the grilled chicken salad with raspberry chipote (sp?) dressing, and it was absolutely delicious and delectable. I will definitely be back for dinner. I wonder if they are open on Thanksgiving day?

MY REVIEW: Great atmosphere, but pass this place up for breakfast. The service was great (and great with our kids) but the food was not worth the visit. The pancakes were tough and the "Belgian" waffle was softer (should be crispy) than the pancakes and clearly used the same batter. Bacon was good and the sausage bland. Eggs nothing to write home about. The coffee wasn't too good either, even though they tout their coffee as being great/home-roasted, etc. I'll probably go back and try dinner or one of the concerts. Definitely a really cool old barn atmosphere.

MY REVIEW: In theory this is a great place. We have been there several times sometimes good experience and sometimes not so great. When we first visited earlier this year I ordered the tuna steak rare which came to the table as if someone had taken it out of the refrigarator and put it on my plate. I sent it back waited for a while in which time my husband had finished his meal, the second one was only a little better. No one came to apologize. Other times we have been there for the singer, songwriter series which are great but we would like a little volume control and maybe some cold beer and "concert" type foods. Atmosphere is terrific when they are not trying to be a bar, a barn, a coffee house and a restaurant all at once. I do recommend because I feel they are trying to find there "BRAND" and everytime we go it only gets better.

MY REVIEW: We were driving by to find a spot to stop and eat and saw the sign for live music. I have been hearing about the place on the radio and said I know they serve food here, so we stopped. I agree about the parking and in the dark it's worse, but what a treat. I love all the mismatched chairs and tables. Such wonderful atmosphere. The waitress was very helpful and friendly, the food and wine were good and Clay Farmer and other guitarist were great. The owner just happened to be there and came over and welcomed us and asked how we were enjoying ourselves. I liked that. Very unique and we will definately be back and will tell others who we know like live music. Thank you.

MY REVIEW: We are absolutely thrilled with this establishment. We travel miles to hear live Texas music, and now we have a class-act venue with class-act service five minutes away from where we live. My mate only returns to a place that cares about its customers, and this management bends over backwards to please. They are new, and they are committed to earning a reputation for good food, good music and good service. We love the waitstaff and request our favorites, Daniel and Jeff. Sometimes patrons can be less than understanding when the house is full and the waitstaff are working as fast as they can. They owners are committed to promoting live music and honoring the musicians - the sound system is incredible! We've seen many acts, and they are 100% entertaining. The decor and the Kentucky barn make for a wonderful ambience. Their carrot cake is out of this world and will feed a table of 4 easily. Thank you, Dosey Doe (oh, their coffee is fine, fine, fine)!

MY REVIEW: My wife and I have been for lunch and dinner and with friends and have enjoyed each and every visit. We went to see Owen Temple on Tuesday Night and found another wonderful dimension to Dosey Doe. The event was unique as it was Owen with out his band swapping songs and talking about his music with the host, Kyle Hutton, who was also very good. The place was packed and the wait staff did an amazing job. We really like this place as they pay attention to detail. The food is 5 star. The sound system and accoustics are also first rate. These folks have spared no expense in bringing quality to North Houston.
Thank you Dosey Doe!

MY REVIEW: The Woodlands finally has their own unique restaurant! We drop in for breakfast whenever we can, because the food is cooked to our order and our waitress brings our coffee before we sit down. Saturday night we brought friends from out of town there just for dinner and drinks. We ended up staying there all night. The Level One Band rocked the joint! I don't even want to review this wonderful hangout, fearing others will flock there and spoil my oasis.

MY REVIEW: Great musical talent. Good food. Horrible service. Unattentive wait staff. With sponsors paying for the musicians that are there you would think the prices would be a little lower on the food or the quantity would be more.Colder beer a must...

MY REVIEW: I just visited Dosey Doe for the first time and I went to see Bruce Robison. Food was good, music was great, but come on - you host a singer/songwriter concert series and do not have any cold beer to serve the guest? What is this? Everytime our table ordered a beer, either it was not cold yet or they were out! All our table was asking was for a cold drink. If you plan on seeing any other songwriters I hope that they stock up a bit more. Also food was good, but I have had better for the price!

MY REVIEW: We had a family party of approx 75 catered @ Dosey Doe on a Saturday afternoon on their 2nd story. Being coffee lover's & consumers of fine restaurant food, our expectations are high. We were very satisfied all the way around. Great cappuchino's , latte's & coffee. The wait was only approx 10 minutes for our drink orders, despite everyone being served simultaneously. The stuffed jalepeno's, chicken kabob & service were all satisfying enough for another return with my wife in the soon future. Atmosphere was really different & nice.
Staff seemed young in their experience - but they did just fine. As for other reviws/diners who complained about the parking: Get over it. Did you walk 1/2 a block as you would downtown or just have to find a spot in the creatively designed small lot? Go to Europe & write about their parking lots... Try it for yourself & enjoy this hidden secret in the Woodlands.

MY REVIEW: Beautiful restaurant with excellent food and service. I did not know it existed until I read a review in the Courier. The review was exactly like I experienced it. She said it was hard to find but the food was as good as any 5 Star resaurant.
They roast their own coffee and when I mentioned I was serious about my coffee my waiter gave me a tour of their bakery and roasting room. They are experts on the subject and their coffe is tremendous. I took a pound home with me along with the huge slice of very good cheesecake that I could not finish.
I highly recommend Dosey Doe.

MY REVIEW: The best Chicken Fried Steak I have ever had! The green beans were fresh and crisp and the mash potoatoes were very nice with just a hint of garlic. The band Silver Shoes was playing last night and they fit the atmosphere of the barn perfectly: a little country and a little rock and roll. The restaurant is hard to find, parking is odd, but this is my third time to come. Like me, a lot of people love this place as everytime I come there are more customers. Last night was a full house! Don't pass up their pecan pie and coffee!

MY REVIEW: Incredible!!!!! My mouth dropped open when we entered the place as it was nothing at all what I expected. From the outside it looks like a Saloon or BBQ Resturant but on the inside it is one of the most attractive and unique places I have ever been. I was brave and ordered the antelope, quail, and scallop entree and was more than pleasantly surprised. Recomended highly! They say they start from scratch on every plate and while it does take just a little longer it is so worth it. The slice of Cheesecake was delicious and HUGE! The coffee has me spoiled now. Definitely two thumbs up!

MY REVIEW: I know I was sitting next to the party that wrote the last two reviews ("dissapointed" and "pakified") as I had to listen to their complaints all night. It is amazing how people can be at the same place at the same time and have such different experiences. My wife and I loved, loved, loved everything about our evening there. Cecil Shaw was singing and is truley wonderful. Houston and Dosey Doe are blessed to have such a talent! "Dissapointed" was an older gentleman who literally complained before he sat down because he didn't know there would be live music (even though it was clearly shown on the outdoor sign). His poor waiter, the owner, and even Cecil himself came to his table to try to make his visit better but his water was too cold or his bread was too hot... The party had three tables right next to mine and the rest of the group except "pakified" were having a wonderful time as, even though they were a Seniors Group", were often up on their feet singing and all smiles. It is a shame that some people seem to relish their misery. Don't you listen to them Dosey Doe as you guys are truely outstanding in the food, service, and ambiance you provide. You are the best of the best!

MY REVIEW: Very LOUD music, tho musician was great, the noise level so high it ws unenjoyable. Forget conversation with table mates. Impossible. Placed order, along with drink request, table mate actually odered her wine 4 times before it finally arrived. 1-1.1 hour later ws finally served small, but very tasty salad. Took another 45 minutes before entres began to arrive, however out of chicken, and had to go to another choice on that one. I had a hamburger, meat very tasty, thank goodness, as mustard, ketchup, mayo was no where to be found. One person did not receive her food at all, the potatoes were not fresh, they were of the flake variety, the huge scallops looked like nickles on a bed of mashed potatoes, not risoto as stated in menu. No one in our group experienced a hot meal, it ws tepid or cold. Were never offered any of that good coffee, in fact never offered a drink refill, finally got up ourselves and refilled our water and coke drinks from the machine against the wall. Goes on and on. To add insult to injury after waiting and waiting the waiter finally came over and asked what we all had to eat, and began writting out checks from scratch and never did finish our table before leaving!!!! We won't even mention what happened at the cashier stand when we were trying to leave that mess before we lost our hearing! Go back? NEVER! Recommend? NOT ON YOUR LIFE! Worse experience I ever experienced in a restuarant. Too bad, atmosphere was unique, could be a really fun place to go, but someone needs to get their act together. THIS PLACE IS A LOSER.
