MY REVIEW: Still as wonderful as every! Just can't decide which is better, the chocolate or the gelato! Doesn't matter though because we always get both! And the proprietor, Don Burke, generously provides a wonderful venue for non-professional photographers to exhibit their work.

MY REVIEW: I have been to RD Chocolate several times now and haven't been disappointed yet. Everything that I have tried has been absolutely delicious. The Ginger/White Chocolate and Chocolate/Caramel gelato are pleasing to the palate as is the Turkish Fig when in season. The lavender truffle and chocolate dipped pralines are divine. The owner takes great pride in his product and is apparent in every bite!

MY REVIEW: When a person follows their bliss good things are bound to happen. That is definitely the case with RainDrop Chocolate. We had seen an article in a local magazine and decided to try it. What a lucky day for us! The flavors of the gelato are amazing - it was torture picking just 2 flavors to go in our cups. We tried most of them and got some wonderful stories of how they are made or what inspired the owner to make them. That adds to the pleasure of eating the gelato and chocolates. The owner has such passion about them that it's hard not to have some of that rub off on you. I can't wait to go back - again and again and again. I have told everyone I know about the place and have heard nothing but rave reviews from all who have visited.

MY REVIEW: Absolutely wonderful gelato! My boyfriend and I love this place. The guy at the counter always recognizes us & is always friendly. I may have an addiction to their Almond gelato...like heaven in a cup!

MY REVIEW: We try to go here only once in a while; we'd go more often if we could...the gelato is easily the best I've ever had on either side of the pond. I love the cinnamon flavour. Last night we tried the balsamic vinegar, very interesting...a perfect balance of sweet and sour. I ended up getting the lemon custard flavour...awesome. Very light and refreshing. My friends got the ginger and white chocolate...it was very good with a snappy ginger flavour. I also walked out with a bag of truffles and chocolate plum wine cups. Everything we've gotten here is truly delicious and you can tell the chocolatier knows what he is doing. Go...GO NOW!!!

MY REVIEW: I love truffles and RainDrop does not disappoint. It's not the subpar commercialized places you see in the mall. You can taste how wonderful something is when it's made with love and care by someone who enjoys their craft. I recommend the sweet curry and milk chocolate flavors but everything else is good too. As for the gelato... I thought I hated gelato since it's not real ice cream but I visited DC and learned that there were such things as good gelato. Then I went to RainDrop and found that there is such things as excellent gelato. Haven't tried the cakes yet but I will for my birthday next week. Atmosphere: Wonderful service, wonderful people, quaint little date location, but small size means limited seating.

MY REVIEW: We drove in from Sugar Land to try their gelato. It was worth the trip and we are going again, soon! The gelato was so flavorful and fresh tasting! We were like "kids in a candy shop" trying to choose! They are setting a new high standard for taste and flavors! I'm telling everyone I know about the place.

MY REVIEW: What a fabulous new spot. The gelato was absolutely incredible. I had a bite of a truffle and it was mouthwatering. I will return often when I need a "real" chocolate fix. A great addition to the neighborhood.

MY REVIEW: I was at Raindrop Chocolate today (9-23-06) and since a glowing article was written about them in the Houston Chronicle three days ago, they have been very busy. So busy they have actually run out of a few things, but I’m sure they are doing the best they can to keep up with demand without sacrificing quality. The gelato and the truffles are excellent. It’s the real deal, it tastes so good you’ll leave with a smile and come back for more. There is an uncompromising quality in the flavor of the chocolates that words can’t describe and is only be experienced. It’s a great place to go after dinner.

MY REVIEW: This place is for real. If you read the article in the Chronicle Preview section, it's all true. The blood orange & chocolate gelato is the best ice dessert flavor since the original cookies n cream. The chocolate truffles are beautiful, and there are many extras, like s'mores, chocolate covered pralines, and chocolate peanut butter candies. Skip dessert at any in-town restaurant and drive up the Allen Parkway to this place instead.

MY REVIEW: Best gelato in town! After returning from Rome about a month ago we've been on a search for the perfect place to satisfy our cravings. There are many places in town but our favorite is Raindrop. Their gelato has the perfect texture, smooth, creamy and no water crystals! And the flavors are rich and addictive. We loved the hazelnut gelato and the blood orange chocolate. Definitely worth the calories because they are so satisfying. We also sampled some of their handmade truffles. Loved the lavender scented ones. The owners are friendly and are passionate and proud of their product. As they should be! We can't wait to return to Raindrop and be regular customers.

MY REVIEW: Absolutely delectable gelatos and chocolates... nothing here has been molding in a box or on the shelf for a month. For those of you who prefer mass-produced goods, go to Wal-Mart.

When eating the truffles, make sure that you won't be interrupted by trivial conversation. Bite off a third of one, smooth it out with your tongue, and let it melt in your mouth. You will not be able to believe your tongue!

Mere words don't convey an accurate message with regard to the astonishing flavors you'll experience here. Treat yourself to a visit. You'll be back.

MY REVIEW: The gelato is marvelous. By far the best i've found in Houston. And it is made fresh! I've taste-tested many of the flavors and found them all to be wonderful, but I am addicted to the Hazelnut. I've only had one piece of chocolate which was very good. But once I get over my gelato addiction, (possibly hopeless I know) I've been dying to try one of the peanutbutter balls. Highly recommended for people who enjoy a good dessert.

MY REVIEW: Jay is absolutely correct. The blood orange chocalte gelato was one of the most interesting and unique flavors I have put in my face for quite a while. The chocolate covered pralines were also sublime.

Right now that is all that I had only because that's all I bought on my first trip. A second trip has now rocketed to "Very High" on the priority list.

(Discovering the blood orange gelato today was like happening into the Cavern Club in Liverpool back in '61 and seeing a local band of good-natured lads play some Rock'n'Roll Music. Fab, guys, just fab.) Marty

MY REVIEW: Just visited yesterday and had the delicious mango gelato and raspberry gelato. Also tried the lime custard/white chocolate truffle -- absolutely heavenly! I will be going back this week to sample more of the goodies. Please spread the word, the gelatos and chocolates are wonderful -- very rich in flavor.

MY REVIEW: The reason that the selection of chocolates appears to be "small" is that everything here is handcrafted in small batches. This is done in order to assure freshness and peak flavor. This keeps the quality high.

MY REVIEW: Finally, finally, finally, Houston has a truly great gelateria. There is a gelato made from blood oranges and chocolate that I have never had before, I don't remember ever seeing it in Italy. Talk about a signature dessert, this one is so good, it makes you want to cry. Raindrop Chocolates does a better job at creating full, rich flavors in their gelato than any I have tried here in Houston and is the only place I will consider for gelato now. Highly recommended also is the cherry gelato.

All I can say is, you need to go here as soon as you can. I recommend ordering a 50/50 chocolate and cherry and a second one of just the blood orange and chocolate.

This is a true artisanal operation, something very rare in Houston where quantity takes precedence over quality.

Of the truffles, I can recommend the malted milk and coconut.

I hope this wonderful place receives the critical claim it deserves.
