MY REVIEW: Four of us ate dinner here and each ordered a different dish. Everything was very good. For $9.00 I had a very large filet of fish in a pobalano sauce, a trip to a well cared for salad bar, rice and grilled vegetables plus fried plantains. The fish was very fresh. One of my sons had the same dish made with chicken rather than fish, my wife had fried shrimp and another son had shrimp and pasta with alfredo sauce. The food and service were very good. The only complaint was that two of us thought the food was a little salty (My family has been on a low salt diet for years so most people would likely be very satisified with the salt level.) The next time we go (which we will) we will ask for no salt or low salt. The food is excellent and you will not leave hungry. The service is excellent. I think the most expensive item is around $13. (Most are less.)

MY REVIEW: This a nice Colombian/South American restaurant, in the shopping center with L*uigi's. Great seafood, Argentinean steaks, chicken, and pork dishes, and smoothie-like passionfruit, pineapple, and other fruit drinks.

MY REVIEW: My wife and I both highly recommend Bamba's. I had Tilapia Chimichurri, she had the Bamba's version of fish-n-chips. Both were outstanding, as was our ceviche appetizer. The service was excellent - prompt and friendly. It's not much to look at from the outside, which is possibly why it was so empty. But don't let it fool you, the food and service are great, and hopefully for the owners' sake, word will get around!

MY REVIEW: so far we've only visited 3 times since our days off from work havent been coordinating but when we do have those days my husband, my son, my mother & I all troop out to this wonderful taste of Colombia..we are slowly going thru every thing on the menu..we all get something different & pass it all around the table for tasting..they dont mind bringing us extra plates for dividing it all up..its got a quiet ambience, which my mom loves (she can't stand noisy places, since she has hearing aids) & the service is nicely paced..we have never felt hurried which is wonderful for a day off lunch..

MY REVIEW: The food was really good, the diping sauce for your chips was delicious, I had a tilapia w/poblano peper sauce it was really good for $9 price. It came w/rice, vegetables & fried plantains (fresh) not chips. My dauther had a lemonade which was freshly made. My husband had the carne asada, it was so tender & juicy. The only issue was that when we saw the menu some of the items were supposed to come w/spinach aut gratin & other stuff, the waitress told us that they had changed the menu but haven't updated the information on the menu.

MY REVIEW: So far so good! Try the empanadas~~not really Argentinean, but with a twist of corn meal, they're wonderful. The chimichurri steak and chicken florentine were awesome! Our kiddos loved the fettucine (alfredo). We'll definitely go back. It's nice to see our Northwest Houston area get some different flavors! This restaurant was recently featured in the Whine and Dine section of The Chronicle and came highly recommended.

MY REVIEW: My introduction to this restaurant came from a personal recommendation - word of mouth on this place is strong. It's a humble dining area in a decaying strip center way out Westheimer, and you'll miss the sign if you blink.
But it's worth the effort to seek it out! The food was terrific, and owner Pedro Zabala appears capable of making his restaurant a Houston standard; he is very intent on pleasing the customers, keeping the menu fresh, and keeping prices reasonable.
The ceviche appetizer was generous and very good, second best I've had in town. My flank steak with carmelized onions was tender and tasty, the plantains were fresh - soft but not mushy. The desserts were exceptional - a tasty flan ( I normally hate Flan) and a great bananas foster with plantains. My friends had the same steak as well as Carne Asada, and everyone was pleased.
There are still some bumps to work out. Rice and beans are average (a frequent Houston problem). Service is somewhat shy - you'll have to coax the specials out of them. And, Pedro told me a bit too late, the best specialty foods aren't on the menu! Not yet at least! New menus are on the way. Still, from what he said, next time I visit, I'm going to ask about off-menu items.
I'm looking forward to trying the more Colombian, specialty plates - the day I chose to visit, they were out of the more exotic item I chose.
Pedro is working on a much nicer Katy location, and I believe he'll make the proper adjustments to keep the menu and the kitchen in sync. I expect great success for him, he's a hard working, dedicated man with a vision! Stop in and see.
