Bayview Duck Restaurant

MY REVIEW: This place is fabulous for old fogies like me as well as you younger folks. Friendliest folks ever and the food is delicious. The atmosphere is not too loud, not too dark, not too bright, but just right. Tell them your name and they never forget it. I've passed by this place 100's of times over the years and I'm so grateful that a friend finally had me stop in.
Thanks William.
Stop by and see what you've been missing.

MY REVIEW: Excellent food, interesting layered beers, and friendly patrons/staff. Try the Scotch Egg with a Triple Decker (Fuller's ESB, Bellhaven Wee Heavy, and Guiness Stout).

MY REVIEW: The DUCK has a warm welcoming atmosphere where if you care to communicate, in a very short while, everyone will know your name. It is not a place for food feasting but they do have well done light meals to help you enjoy and evening of relaxing with your choice of beverage ,meeting nice folks to the sound of laughter and celtic music on occasion.

MY REVIEW: My wife and I have been going to The Duck for so long that when we say "everything was normal" we mean that normal for the Duck is excellent anywhere else. Great food, great drinks and great folks. Alex pours a better than fair drink and is always open to trying a new concoction as a customer wishes.
Much better than one of the Kemah "hot" spots. We can find a place to sit and not be hassled by the waitstaff wanting our table. I can take my 10 year old grandson and not worry about him at The Duck.
What else can I say??? We love the place.

MY REVIEW: I try to find English pubs around the area, and I'd seen this one for years; it's a great place for a quiet, cozy meal with friends, and the drinks are excellent. The food is really very good, and the atmosphere is not like a bar--it's a pub. So, the family can go. I'm glad I found it, and I drive 30 minutes one way just to eat there....I'm a regular now.
The Scotch egg is excellent, and the open beef sandwiches--are great. A dish called the Drunken Chicken outshines its name; the meal is very healthly and hearty, with veggies.

MY REVIEW: The Duck is just plain clean fun. Drinks are a bargain, as bartender's (Alec) 2 finger measurment is three of anyone else's. Several bands play Wed through Sat. nights. Order the Scotch Egg and a single malt to get yourself in the mood. Folks very friendly so prepare for a hug on your second visit. They remember everyone's name.

MY REVIEW: The last time i went we just wanted a beer. This place is one of the best spots to get a beer. we showed up at nine, they close at ten. when the waitress announced last call i ordered another pint. she returned with a little less than half a pint in a pint glass. I reminded her that i ordered a full pint and she replied to me "Yes, but we are closing." In my opinion if you are offering to take an order for last call please do it in enough time that we will be able to finish our drinks. And don't decide for me how much beer i can drink in fifteen minutes. After i gave her a go to hell look and the rest of my table started laughing at this she brought me the other half of my beer in another glass.
Other than this one time instance i do recommend this place for beer and food and music. The bar tender is the coolest but the older waitress seems bitter and not really concerned about tips.

MY REVIEW: I really enjoy the Duck. It is a British inspired pub that seems to brim over with kitsch, but is not too tacky. The bar is run by Alec and his wife (the owners) and they run a fun ship.
The food is good for pub food. I personally enjoy the fish and chips, but as previously mentioned, you cannot go wrong with the Guinness Beef or the Scotch Egg, both of which are terrific too.
The bar features a nice selection of taps serviing British Isles beers exclusively (I don't even think that they have Bud Light at all). I enjoy asking Alec for one of his specialty blends... He serves variations on the always-popular Black and Tans using other beers for the mix. Very tasty.
On weekends they also have live music which is fun to enjoy.
Overall, it is a fun place to go to enjoy a couple of beers, take a date, or have an interesting family outing. Enjoy.

MY REVIEW: The Duck is an institution. Above all it has personality. The British inspired food isn't exciting but it is oddly satisfying, and reasonably priced so you can't gripe too much. The Guinness beef is probably their best offering, and you can't go wrong with a scotch egg. Alec keeps his beers remarkably fresh--I'm fond of the Fuller's ESB. He keeps about eight well-chosen taps (Fuller's ESB, Bellhaven, Guinness, Whitbred, I forget the rest).
Bring the kids during lunch or dinner. They have a collection of toys for the kids and pub puzzles that will challenge anyone.
