MY REVIEW: After dining at what seems like a million Thai restaurants in Houston, I've determined that Nidda is my favorite. They have a wide variety of dishes (expected, I know), and plenty of vegetarian options. Fave dishes of myself and my friends: beef larb salad, chu chee eggplant, the fish in the garden, curried duck, pad thai, etc. Also, the chef's specials are really good (my favorite is the soft shell crab special). The price is pretty good for the amount of food that you get. I've never had to wait for a table, and the staff is always extremely friendly. We get take-out pretty regularly, too.

MY REVIEW: I really enjoy eating at Nidda Thai. The food is excellent - must tries include the green papaya salad (not easy to find in Houston, and an automatic order every single time I visit, no exceptions), fish in the garden, and basil duck. The noodle dishes are solid, but the strengths are the non-noodle house specialties. Prices are reasonable, averaging 15 dollars per entree. Service is excellent - I have not had problems with packaging of "doggie bags" like the previous reviewer. It gets relatively busy on weekend evenings, but I've never had to wait for a table. Pick-up is also an option, but the food naturally suffers and prefer to go in person, as I live close by.

Cons - I think the decor could use some updating, but this is a pretty minor point.

MY REVIEW: Restaurant is generally busy, but never waiting for a seat on weekend nights, the food is excellent, but the service has issues.

First, the food... they have many dishes that I've not seen at other restaurants. At Nidda I've asked the waiter for suggestions and had excellent Rainbow fish, Nidda eggplant and Crispy chicken, in addition to the staples (Pad Thai, Coconut-lime soup, crispy and soft spring rolls).

The service, however, has crossed it off our list. On our first visit (wife, daughter and myself), when they packed the food, they packed all of it (three dishes) into a single container. On our second visit, we had an entire dish of the eggplant (it's kind of stuffed/puffy) crushed into a single container. On our third visit, they threw away food we intended to pack. On our fourth visit, we knew to ask for containers. However, as we were packing, we needed another serving of white rice. The waitress retrieved the bill ($70) to add a dollar. Considering we have to drive an hour to attend the restaurant having these little things occur at the end of a meal puts a sour point on the evening for us.

Fantastic food however, just pack your own stuff.

MY REVIEW: I heard great things about this restaurant and I thought I would give it a try. Out of all of the Thai restaurants I have visited in Houston, Nidda Thai is by far the best!

Service: I was thoroughly impressed by their very fast and attentive service on a really busy night. The servers were very kind and helpful.

Prices: Average compared to other Thai restaurants; a bit more than 10 dollars per entree.

Food: GREAT! Large selection including vegetarian. For appetizers we had the fresh rolls (great!) and steamed dumplings (average). Our entrees were the special (a tilapia dish-- absolutely fabulous!) and the Pad Prik Khing- which was full of flavor and just the right amount of kick!

I cannot wait to return!

MY REVIEW: IF YOU LOVE THAI FOOD....THIS PLACE IS IT!I have yet to taste the authenticity in other Houston Thai restaurants. Their papaya salad tastes like the one I had from my Thai friend's Grandmother. Their curries are always full of flavor and balanced perfectly.....LADIES and GENTLEMEN, THIS IS THAI FOOD!

MY REVIEW: I really love this place and am always looking for excuses to go back. Their Tom Yum Gai is to die for! I'm also hooked on their Green Curry with chicken. Other dishes we've tried that have been delicious are Pad Kra Prao, Pad Prik Praow, and Pad Prik Khing. The Ginger Lover was fine but not exceptional, and I was not overly thrilled with the Mussaman Curry. The quality of these two dishes was good, but we didn't find them as flavorful or special as the others.

I had a strange experience with service the first time I went. It was at lunch, and it wasn't clear whether I should seat myself or wait to be seated. I waited and waited, but no one ever said anything to me. I finally sat down and was promptly taken care of. I've never had anything awkward like that happen since. The service has been very good and very friendly. They definitely recognize us now and always greet us sweetly. (And, by the way, you should wait to be seated at dinner time. I still don't know the rules for lunch, as I haven't been back at that time.)

The place is very quiet and pleasant, and I noticed that the dinner crowd doesn't show up until close to 8:00. The decor is nothing exceptional. This restaurant is definitely all about the food.

I highly recommend this place!

MY REVIEW: I absolutely LOVE this place!!!! The food is always fresh, the price list is varied for about any budget, and the service is always professional, friendly and most efficient. I have never been disappointed in any way when dining here, whether I was their only customer or when the restaurant was full.

Thank you, Nidda Thai!

MY REVIEW: I love this place and every single person in my extended family does too...We take everyone we can. Its amazing. The service is spectacular. They will offer recommendations, adjust the spiciness of the food for you.

My favorite dishes are Nidda shrimp, Fish in the Garden and I wish I could spell it Kumdakhai..basically a chicken soup with a coconut broth and lemongrass...

I highly recommend Nidda and I love this place so much they will be catering my wedding this year.

MY REVIEW: Wow, read all these reviews figured this place to be spectacular? Well I was dead wrong, good service was our only saving grace. My beef green curry was basically a half cooked cheap cut of beef swimming in weakly flavored green curry soup, didn't stick to the spoon, it was runny and watery ie. disgusting. Girlfriend ordered some rice noodles that were also bland and flavorless, with random weird colored pieces of egg floating around, tasted like it was seasoned with cheap soy sauce. And this place is supposed to have good thai? I think not.

MY REVIEW: Just discovered this place - disappointed to have missed out on it for so long. We're big fans of Thai food and this may be the best place in town. Need to go back a few more times to try different dishes but everything we ordered was top notch.

I've heard others say that the seafood menu items are weaker than other choices. As long as you stick to shrimp, you'll be good. Mussels, calamari etc were a little overdone but the shrimp were perfect.

Strongly recommend the yellow/green/red curries.

MY REVIEW: There is a reason you won't find a bad review of this place. Everytime I go to Nidda it gets better. All the curries are made from scratch. All the veggies are fresh and the meat dishes I have had were all cooked to perfection. Can't say enough good things about this place. Hope it manages to stay around.

MY REVIEW: The food is awesome! I have a voracious appetite and I'm a consumate meat eater. However the Chu Chee eggplant rocks my world. Its enough for 2 people. The only complaint (minor) is that I wish they'd give you a little more rice with each meal. If you want any extra, its a buck. But thats MINOR. So far I've had the Chu-Chee eggplant twice and the duck. The portions (except rice) are generous, they food is fresh and TASTY.

I'm going back as we speak to try some noodles.

Definitely one of the best Thai places I've been to!!!

MY REVIEW: Without doubt, the best Thai food I've found in Houston. I had previously ordered the Chu Chee eggplant or the Pad Thai, both delicious, but yesterday I tried the Basil Duck and I am truly in love! Flat out, this is the best Thai meal I've ever had anywhere, and I've had lots. The boneless duck is sliced fairly thin and there are pieces of crispy skin included. The duck's taste definitely holds its own, even in the presence of the perfect spicy saucing. Water chestnuts, bamboo, snow peas, onions, and green beans accompany the duck, with a generous amount of fresh basil. I will be going back very soon, and my only problem will be whether to try some of the selections others have highly praised, or go with the basil duck again... and again. Service was very personal, friendly, attentive.

MY REVIEW: Food was excellent and the wait staff provided service as though we were the only ones in the restaurant. Very attentive and customer-friendly.

That drunken shrimp fried rice was the best "fried rice" dish I have ever had. If you do not like it spicy, you may have to tell the waiter/waitress and they will be more than happy to tailor the food to your desires.

MY REVIEW: Wonderful Thai food. The soft rolls are so fresh and the cheese rolls were perfect. The mussels were a little fishy tasting, but that was the only down side. Their Garden View fish has so many fresh herbs in it that give it a distinctive flavor like no other Thai restaurant in Houston has done. The waitstaff is so friendly and courteous. We will definitely be back.
