Profile Description: Studio Movie Grill is the pioneer and leader in the move grill concept, combining first-run movies with restaurant food service. Extensive food and beverage menu—featured twice on the Food Network’s Top Five—includes fresh salads, robust burgers and chicken sandwiches, shrimp or rib platters, gourmet hand-tossed pizzas and, of course, mouthwatering desserts. Domestic and imported beers, premium wines, and specialty mixed drinks—such as a Kahlua Mudslide or the 20 oz Studio Grande’ Blue Margarita
MY REVIEW: On one hand, the service is slow and it distracts you from the movie (waiting a half hour to get your credit card back can be unnerving; waiting a half hour for a drink order is irritating. if bad service distracts you then you WILL be distracted from the movie)...the food is expensive. 2 adults and 2 kids, burgers, fries, drinks, appetizer - will run you close to $70, not counting the $30 to get in to the movie. If there is a bright side, the total cost ($100)...The food is average, one plus is they have beer, but note that the salsa for the nachos is pretty bad...

MY REVIEW: This was a really good experience for our family of four. We arrived early, stood in line in the lobby for a bit, and went in when the theater was ready. I suspect the best thing to do would have been to decide what we wanted using the online menu, then order immediately on entering. We waved the first waiter off and the next didn't appear for 20 minutes or more, in fact just before the show started. I hope that was only a temporary problem.
Our food arrived in the dark and frankly it was sometimes hard to discern what was in the baskets. The food itself was very good, and a fair but not exceptional value. Our total bills - four tickets and four meals - came to the same or less than two comparable dinners, two movie tickets, and a babysitter, so I think we came out ahead.
We enjoyed the comfortable office chairs but I think it would have been easier to keep an eye on the kids if we had all been seated in a row at the same table. There's always next time - we want to try it again.

MY REVIEW: Two words for any first time visitor of the Studio, "cheese fries".
They are awesome!
Not only are the chairs amazingly comfortable and the aisles easy to get in and out of, but the food is actually really good.
The all you can eat pizza days are awesome as well. The pizza is actually quite good!
Prices maybe a bit steap, but the amount of food you get as well as the taste makes it worth it in the end.
Always friendly staff on hand as well.

MY REVIEW: This was our first movie/dining experience and we loved it! Not only did my own family go with several teenagers, but my daughter's fiance joined us too. It was great because the people were very friendly, we were greeted by the manager on duty and given plenty of time to order our food. The food was hot, tortillias crispy, and ice cream brownie was fantastic! We went two days ago and will be going again tonight. We really enjoyed the show and sound system. The theatre was very quiet and patrons very respectful of one another. I would recommend this theatre to anyone and I already have. My friend and her family are going to join us tonight.

MY REVIEW: MY HUSBAND AND I VISITED THE SMG FOR THE FIRST TIME LAST WEEKEND. ALTHOUGH WE HAVE A A*LAMO DRAFTHOUSE NEAR OUR HOME, WE CHOSE TO VISIT SMG. I MUST SAY THE EXPERIENCE WAS GREAT! (EXCEPT FOR THE CRYING BABY)....THE SEATS WERE REALLY COMFORTABLE. OUR SERVER WAS TERRIFICE AND THE FOOD WAS GOOD! FOR MY HUSBAND, HE'S EXPERIENCING THIS MOVIE AND DINNER THING FOR THE FIRST TIME, HE REALLY PREFERRED SMG OVER A*LAMO. THE LIGHTING IS BETTER SUITED FOR A MOVIE AND THE LIGHT UP COASTER IDEA IS MUCH BETTER THAN TRYING TO STICK A PIECE OF PAPER IN A LITTLE CRACK...WE ENJOYED IT SO MUCH THAT WE ARE GOING AGAIN THIS FRIDAY! SO, EXCEPT FOR THE PARKING PROBLEM AND THE CRYING KID(PEOPLE LEAVE YOUR BABIES AT HOME)WE ENJOYED OUR FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH SMG.....

MY REVIEW: This was my first 'dinner/movie' experience. In general, not a good combination. In particular, the seats were uncomfortable, service was slow, and when there was service it distracted from the movie. I'll stick to dinner and a movie.

MY REVIEW: I've lived in Austin most of my adult life and wouldn't go to a movie unless it was showing at the Alamo Drafthouse. That said, let it be understood that my standards for the whole movie-with-food-and-drink experience is pretty high. The few times I've been here, it's never been without some kind of service incident. Either the server was too slow, or generally inattentive/ apathetic (fake a LITTLE enthusiasm, please), or the order came back totally wrong. If you get the wrong order here, you won't get it corrected until very, very late in the movie. The food itself isn't very good, either, with the exception of those sweet potato fries -- yum! I'd rather go to a regular movie without the exceptional hassles of the Studio Movie Grill. PLEASE, Alamo Drafthouse, bring one inside the loop!

MY REVIEW: We went to SMG twice now. The first time when it was just open for a month or so. That time was a total disaster. We bought our tickets, waited in line forever to get into the theater, after 30-45 minutes late already, the manager came out and said that they will not serve food because the computer systems were down. We hadn't had dinner or anything yet because we were going to experience this movie grill. So we decided not to stay. We went to the front to get our money back like other people did and we had to stand in line for another 30 minutes just to get a refund. That was ridiculous. The managers there seem to not care whatsoever about hungry and angry customers.
After a couple of months passed by, we thought we would give the movie grill another chance, everyone deserves a second chance and because it was new, it might have had a few bugs to work out. We went back there again and the service was just as terrible again. We were watching a late movie so there was only a few people in the theater. The whole place seem a little empty for a move theater but we went in and watch the movie anyway. We had our little light up coaster thing that supposed to be used for ordering food. I thought this thing would page someone to come over to our seat to take orders, but no one showed up and we're practically almost halfway through the movie. My girlfriend was so mad she had to go out and get the manager, apparently they forgot about us and never sent anyone to check on us. The food was even overprice and tasted bad, we had some pizza that could have easily come out microwaved frozen food section. Pass up on this, you are not missing anything and you would save yourself a lot of aggrevation.

MY REVIEW: A group of friends and I go to this theatre every week to see the latest movies. Like any theatre, this one has its pros and cons. Pros: the seats are really comfortable, the picture is super high definition and the sound is the best in Houston. Cons: the service is hit or miss, sometimes you are treated like cattle in the lobby, and the food is usually poor. Don't let the cons keep you from trying this theatre out though. So long as you either eat first or go in with the mindset that you will not be getting a restaurant quality meal, everything else about this theatre is awesome.

MY REVIEW: We went to SMG for the second time around just to give it another shot and all we can say is that will be the last time we will go there. We will not go back to this place ever. The food is not that great. We did the all you can eat pizza night. The server was V-E-R-Y S-L-O-W, it took at least 20 minutes for him to get our drinks/food but when the server gave the check, he went back to us right away to check if we already signed the check. He is very fast in checking his tip but not taking/bringing the order. This experience is just horrific in my opinion.

MY REVIEW: 1. Save time, save money - dine and watch a movie at the same time. We used to eat dinner then go to the movies with our 3 children. Guess what? After dinner, my kids still wanted to get at least a drink and maybe even popcorn at the movies. Talk about paying for food twice! Now, we only pay for food once!
2. Student movie discount - $5 for teenagers! Just don't forget their student IDs.
3. Food is pretty good. Refills on drinks...and they come to you!
4. Servers are pretty nice.
5. Bathrooms are clean - big plus!
6. Leather seats are still nice - but probably not for long. They seem a little bit cheap.

MY REVIEW: My group of friends and I go to SMG fairly often just to do something a little different. The servers are great, they seem to enjoy their jobs. It is true that the food is not "fine dining cuisine" but, honestly, anyone going to a movie theater expecting that is a little naive! It is pretty good though and the portions are generous! Mixed drinks are awesome but the beer is a little pricey for those of us that don't like to pay $4.50 per beer. I would HIGHLY recomend SMG if you want a casual night out with your friends or spouse. Just remember that it should be just that...casual...this is not a fancy place though it is very clean and comfortable!

MY REVIEW: We love the Studio Movie Grill. Although the A*lamo's food is ok, the SMG is much better. And they have true mixed drinks!! Very, very clean and comfortable. And the staff is not full of body-piercings and tatoos like the other place!! We have had no complaints in our numerous visits here.

MY REVIEW: I went by myself and I saw "Prestige" and I loved the movie and the whole dining while watching. I had a wrap and sweet potatoe fries and loved it! I've been craving the fries ever since. My husband, son, and I went back Sunday, the 5th of November and we did'nt check the times first, therefore, we did'nt get in to see a movie. We will come back and soon.
Yes, the prices are a bit high. However, it's not California, or the East Coast, which is a lot more expensive. I thought the ice tea was too strong, but, you can't please everyone. Please try a bit less tea bags though. Thanks!

MY REVIEW: Our first visit and my husband & I loved it, even better than the "other" movie/dinner place. Comfortable chairs and tables. We ordered a bean burger and a bbq chicken wrap. They came with sweet potato fries and everything was delicious. Prices are just a little bit higher than say, C*hili's or TFI F*riday's. Service was a bit slow one time for us, but otherwise very good. On a Sunday night it was not crowded at all so we had a very pleasant experience - I would highly recommend it. Plus, I loved the movie - The Illusionist!

MY REVIEW: I love it! I am a regular at A*lamo Drafthouse- so I was expecting the same experience. Was I wrong! This place is wonderful! The food comes in HUGE portions. The chairs (nice comfy leather chairs) and overall seating is perfect. They even have tables! That's perfect when you have a group of 4. Their margaritas are NOT wine-based! That was my biggest problem with A*lamo. The place it clean- & the staff is incredibly friendly. I can't wait to go back!

MY REVIEW: Our first visit. Neighborhood atmosphere was a big plus. No huge crowds. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Food came out suprisingly fast. Burgers were good - fries could have been a bit fresher - and hot. Family in front of us ordered a pizza - we plan on trying one next visit. A bit pricey - especially bottles of beer - $4.50/each. Loved going to the movie and being able to enjoy fresh brewed iced tea complete with free refills. Comfy chairs. We'll be back.

MY REVIEW: The first time I went was on opening night and things were a bit crazy but we have gone several times since. You get there 45 minutes early order your drinks and than the food and it's great. You eat before the movie, finish your drinks during the movie and enjoy. It's a nice night out for husband and wife without the craziness of millions of teenagers. Maybe you should try it again and this time get the hang of it yourself!

MY REVIEW: I went there with two friends and we wanted to have separate tickets. The server did not tell us that we should have put it on the same ticket for ordering purposes and she would split it up at bill time. I recieved my beer and food before my friends even recieved their first beer. One friend got her food before her first beer. The second friend finally got her food halfway through the movie! We ordered bottle beers and got drafts. The service was HORRIBLE!! The manager tried to say it was because they had only been opened for 8 weeks, but I am sorry - if a server knows you are a group together and the most efficient way to have you all dine together would be to put your food on one ticket, then why would they not do that? I will NOT go back, even though the manager gave us a VIP pass for one free ticket. WOO HOO - he should have comped our meals or drinks or something. I was extremely disappointed. The servers ran around like they didn't know what they were doing and were not friendly. And the walls are very thin - we could hear the movie next door and our chairs were vibrating from the loud base sound.

MY REVIEW: I have only been there one time, but it was fine. Yes, the food is a little high, but mine was very good. We ate an appetizer at the bar ahead of time and then ordered our meal once we got inside. We did not have to wait in a line so I'm not sure what that's about. We went in the afternoon. I like the office type chairs and the ability to get up closer to the table where you're eating. Like someone else mentioned, this is a movie theater offering food - not a restaurant. I would go back again.

MY REVIEW: I have been to this establishment twice and will return, although I experienced bad service both times. On my first visit, my companion received the wrong order. On the second visit, we did not receive our order at all until we asked (noticing everyone else in the room had their food). We subsequently had to send the waiter back for condiments, napkins and necessities that were not brought out with the meal. The food, once received, was fine. The theater was not crowded on either afternoon visit. It is my sincere hope that this establishment will work out the kinks and fulfill it's potential to be a great place to have a decent meal (delivered accurately and in a timely manner) and catch the latest flick.

MY REVIEW: What a wonderful evening! I loved the setup, our waiter was so very friendly and our food was brought out quickly. The prices are a little high, but for the service and atmosphere, it is well worth every penny.
I will definately return! I'm so happy to have found this theater.

MY REVIEW: I have gone to SMG three times now and the service has improved each time. My family and I enjoyed the wait staff (don't forget they live off those tips!!). SMG is not a restaurant where you go to eat appetizers and then expect to get your main meal before the show starts. It is a movie house that also serves dinner. I don't want to be disturbed during the movie itself and the servers are very careful to not interrupt unless you turn on your "light coaster"- perhaps those that got their order placed after the movie started forgot to turn on their light. The food is not 4 star quality, but I haven't been to an establishment such as this that is. I do understand that sometimes the kitchen has problems (cold food or slow service), but that will be quickly taken care of if you inform a server as soon as the problem is noticed (turn on that light again!). Please realize that SMG is a new endevour for this side of town and is now moving out of it's "newness" - give it another try.

MY REVIEW: The food is very avg but if I can see a new release movie with a glass of wine, and my kid can eat the usual fare of pizza or chicken fingers, it's ok with us. The best thing to do is get there 20-30 min before the show starts and get the orders in so food doesn't come out so late into the show. Don't expect a chef prepared meal a movie house. The food tasted like Red B*aron pizza and frozen T*GIF stuff.
