MY REVIEW: Great fries, bacon is deep fried, curly and crispy. I had papas con hue vows and they were good. My partner had huevos la Mexicans and it was also good. We will be back.

MY REVIEW: First visit, last visit.

I ordered the carnitas, a favorite of mine. They were burned, bland and dry. The salsas were good and the chips, too but the beans and rice needed more spice. Not too sure what was going on that day, but the waitress seemed a little put out by my appearance as well. She barely spoke two words to me and the way she slammed down the plate, you'd think the place was packed. There were two other tables occupied. I had high hopes for this restaurant considering the other reviews and I loved the funky way it looked. Maybe I should have ordered breakfast instead.

MY REVIEW: In my search for a really good cheese enchilada, I revisited this restaurant after having been away from it for about a decade. The cheese enchiladas were pretty good - they got the texture just right - but everything on my plate needed a little salt. Pretty bland (refried beans, rice and guacamole). The service was not very good. Not sure I would come back any time soon.

MY REVIEW: If this place ever closes, I would lose my mind probably. There is no other place like this in Houston. The salsas are perfect, food is always hot, never greasy, never off-kilter. I jump up to be there early for the guacamole and juevos mexicanos. The food is home-made, and nothing like the chain places. They are glad when you walk in the door. I have tried other places in my 40 years here, and the only other similar places are south of the border. The workers there seem like family. Have never been disappointed at Los Dos Amigos.

MY REVIEW: I love this place, the food is the most authentic mexican food you will taste in houston. My favorite plates are the beef tacos and the carne con papas. Very casual place to eat. The only weak points is the parking. It is very busy around luch time but I guess because the place is very popular! Definately recommend this place.

MY REVIEW: We'll start with the bad. Lousy decor, dumpy old restaurant, service is nothing special.

The good is Carne con P*appas. Brilliant but nothing fancy. Fajita meat and fries sauted with onions and peppers served with beans, rice, and tortillas. This is the real tex mex. The fajitas are made with skirt steak and not filet mignon. The salsa is thin and stewed and will burn your face off if you don't take it slow. Reasonably priced old school tex mex. This has been one of my favorite places to eat for ~15 years.

I just hope they don't get swallowed up by the soulless bars and clubs that have sprung up all over the area.

MY REVIEW: Craved some breakfast tacos and stopped buy for to go. It was a long wait --15 minutes, but worth it. The tortillas were freshly made and the salsas were both warm. The place was packed with regulars. Next time I'll phone ahead for my order.

MY REVIEW: It's a dump on Washington with plenty of parking and homeless guys changing in the lot. It's little Mexico on the inside with vinyl tablecloths, fake flowers, and mariachi music. The waitresses speak English, but the patrons love to order in Spanish. Most are regulars 'cause they order menuless. We tried breakfast -- scrambled eggs with chorizo and potato and a side of bacon. The scrambled eggs weren't bad, especially because the small tortillas were so good. The bacon was mini-sized and definitely not recommended. The baked beans were bland. Very casual, and an interesting place to try out. The tostadas that someone else ordered looked great.

MY REVIEW: Loved the cheese enchiladas they are like the ones my mother made. The red salsa was warm and the chips were toasted and firm. What a jewel, I hope it survives the change of the neighborhood. This is not a fancy place but it was clean. The service was a little slow, but the low cost and the good food made up for it. This is how Tex-Mex used to be before the costly Tex-Mex came to town. I will be back.

MY REVIEW: This is one of the secrets of the Rice Military area. This place is very good, cheap, clean, and just a casual place to eat in the 'hood. Walk over and have real Tex-Mex. I go every week. Very inexpensive.

MY REVIEW: The first couple of times I visited, the food was pretty good at a very in expensive price. The last few times I have been, the staff service and food quality have both steadily went downhill. The food was watery and had no flavor and we had to get up to get the waitress' attention for everything. My finacee begged not to go there again and I agreed.

MY REVIEW: My girlfriend and I went to Los Dos Amigos simply as payback for their allowing is to park while attending a gallery opening on Birdsall. The dinner was so delicious that we went back for breakfast the next day! This is what Tex-Mex used to be all about - cheap, delicious and plentiful. Los Dos Amigos in some ways reminds me of the late L*eo's, which was also on Washington. Try it while you can - with all the redevelopment along Washington, I'm not hopeful that Los Dos Amigos will be around much longer.
