Zorro's Mexican Diner (CLOSED)

MY REVIEW: Oh Happy Day!
We dropped into Zorro's the other day for a quick lunch and were elated to hear that Wayne and Gloria, the original owners of Zorro's, have taken ownership again. The old menu is back, the salsa is back and better than ever, weekend breakfasts are back, and the warm, family atmosphere that we had missed is also back.
Welcome back, Wayne and Gloria! We missed you!

MY REVIEW: We have been disappointed in Zorro's since it recently changed ownership. The menu has been "sterilized", removing some of our favorite items, and leaving only the basics that you can find at just about any Tex-Mex place: tacos, enchiladas, burritos, fajitas, etc. - - the usual fare. The signature dishes such as the Picadillo Plate are gone, and the previously great salsa now resembles a mildly spicy applesauce.
We used to frequent Zorro's at least once a week since they had opened several years ago, but now we drop in once every few weeks, hoping to see if things have improved. So far they haven't.

MY REVIEW: What a disappointment! We ate at the restaurant when it FIRST opened here in Greatwood a few years ago, but the service was disorganized, the order was wrong, and the food only leukwarm. We put it down to being their first week open and not working out the kinks. I got take out about a year ago, and the order was correct, but not much meat in the burritos. I just came back from picking up my order today and I'm not going back. When I got there, they told me they no longer made a particular item I ordered so it wasn't in the order...not even "I'm sorry" or an offer to get me something else, just here is your order. So now I'm going home without food for one of my family - what do I tell them? They claim they tried to call me and MY Phone didn't work...but it happens to ring just as I walk out of the restaurant. On top of that, the poor girl who had to tell me this at the cashier post by the door is looking at the manager back by the kitchen...and he's not making a move to come to her aid. The final straw was to get home and find the food too greasy to eat. ITs a real shame - would have been nice. And I WILL sign my name.

MY REVIEW: Everytime I dine here I have a great experience! For someone who loves sports, this is the place to be. With 3 big screen TVs, you can watch your favorite college or Pro teams, while sipping on a SUGAR FREE magarita and chowing down on tasty queso. The guac is always freshly made. Favs: Guacamole Hamburger w/bacon, their NEW chile cheese hot dog, seafood and spinach enchilades, quesadillas are out of this world. Weekends they have the best mexican style breakfasts...migas are my fav. Great atmosphere and friendly staff will make you come again and again.

MY REVIEW: Let me preface this by saying, I consider myself an expert in Mexican food dining. Eat it all the time and love it! Zorro's is family owned and operated establishment. Very comfortable feel when you dine there. Almost like eating at your residence. Very cozy...with memoriblia, like pictures of famous athletes on the walls. Sport teams banners and helmets are displayed. If you are into sports watching...this is the place! With three big screen TVs, you can watch your favorite teams play. My fav drink...Sugar Free Margarita...only 110 calories and taste like a regular one. Great melt-in-your-mouth hamburgers. Terrific chile cheese hot dogs...the best in town! Love the spinach and seafood enchilades! The guacamola salad is to die for...very fresh! You just can't beat the friendly service and atmosphere of this neighborhood restaurant that's slowly becoming a Sugar Land landmark. Highly recommend eating there! Family and sports fan friendly!!

MY REVIEW: What a disappointment. We were huge fans of this place for a very long time and then...the food and service slowly went downhill. We loved the margaritas, chips and salsa, but the quality of the food has deteriorated over the past year. Which is unfortunate because it is a great neighborhood restaurant. Service was not impressive as our water glasses were never filled and while we would have ordered another round of margaritas, no one came to check on us until we needed the check. The place was not even that full, maybe 1/3 and one of the owners was more interested in checking out his laptop at the bar than making sure his customers were well taken care of.

MY REVIEW: It's very similar in atmosphere, clientele and menu to the previous restaurant located here at the SW Frwy. The redecoration looked nice, the prices OK but the greasy (to the point of unsafe) floors, untended bathrooms, and uninspiring (but plentiful) food marred the experience.

MY REVIEW: We are loyal customers of Zorro's since it opened over four years ago. We have always had an excellent meal there. The prices are very reasonable. The portions are very generous.
The owners, Gloria and Wayne are always smiling, very personable, and make you feel at home every visit. The quality and service are exceptional. The quesadillas, enchiladas, salads, tacos are unreal. Their flour tortillas are all handmade, yummy. The burgers are absolutely the best in Texas. People drive for miles to have this burger. It's an oversized quality burger on the most incredible bun.
They just introduced the best grilled all beef hot dog on the planet, on a bun which is to die for. Their margaritas are the best we've ever had anywhere. They have a sugar free margarita which we have never found anywhere else. Their chips and salsa are delicious. Their queso is so good and the flavor is delicious.
This place rocks!

MY REVIEW: I've been dining here since it has opened...around 5 years or so. Strong points---- GREAT margarita's! AND the ONLY place to serve SUGAR FREE margarita's! 110 calories each and they taste like regualr ones! Hamburgers would rival any hamburger joint. Their homemade buns are made special for these great burgers. Hotdogs are brand new and also contain the special made buns although I haven't tried them yet...but the kids seem to like them. The fajitas are great...especially the shrimp. And I love the shrimp and fish tacos or enchiladas. This place is great for any diner b/c they have healthy dishes as well as the old tex-mex style. Try it, you will like it!

MY REVIEW: We have been to Zorros many times since it's opening. There are many great points including but not limited to; awesome margaritas, great queso, the hamburgers are big and tasty, fajitas (especially the shrimp) are great.
My only food complaint has been that the beef enchiladas seem to have very little meat in them. This has happened more than once. I have noticed unfavorable changes in the quality of some of the food, I've never been crazy about the rice, but I don't eat much of it anyway. Keep in mind this is over a year or so. However, there are still dishes that are excellent and the convenience in our neighborhood can't be beat.
I hope they continue to serve the area with good food.

MY REVIEW: Service is good, especially when mgmt is there. The fajitas are good, however I have noticed that the portions have been smaller lately. hopefully that will improve. I love this place, it's a minute from my home. The margaritas, wine, queso, tortilla soup and fajitas are worth going for. We will definitely be back- providing that the portions will go back to what they were. Awesome people! You will almost always see someone you know.

MY REVIEW: We stop in usually at least once a week. The owner, Gloria is always there and smiling. Food is amazing and the margaritas are unmatched! You can always get a seat and food in a pretty quick time frame. If you haven't tried it lately, GO GO GO! :)

MY REVIEW: I found the best times to visit this place is on the weekends. I have enjoyed their breakfasts, and an occasional lunch and dinner. Their Tortilla Soup is unquestionably outstanding. Their fajitas are very good (portions are too generous). The Milagra brekfast is worth the trip. The only thing I have noticed is that the rice is of variable quality. SOmetiems good, sometimes not so good.
Service is excellent and friendly. Gloria, the owner, is there regularly and makes sure the place is functionming smoothly.
