MY REVIEW: My friend and I arrived prior to our other guests so we waited at the bar. We were greeted by a most friendly, energetic and informative bartender "Kim". We had a wonderful Ahi Ceviche at the bar with drinks and a complimentary appetizer. Kim was kind enough to talk with us about the various Tequilas offered at the restaurant. During dinner all four of us ordered steaks....all dishes arrived cooked perfectly as requested. The wine list is not extensive but offered good selections and very reasonably priced.

This was my first visit to the Palm M&M Restaurant but will not be my last. I live in Houston but will not hestitate to drive to Galveston for another delightful and enjoyable dinning experience at this restaurant.

MY REVIEW: Once again went in without reservations so we sat at the bar. We had the Seafood Fondue for an appetizer with our wine delicious!!!!

We didn't eat a meal, just wanted a light appetizer before going out. The bar service is exceptional and the food has been wonderful each time we have been.

MY REVIEW: One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. Food and service have always been exceptional. If you really want a great deal, try their lunch menu when prices are reasonable. Be sure to check their schedule because they are only open certain days for lunch. Very nicely decorated with dark woods. You will not be disappointed.

MY REVIEW: Our 1st visit and I was very pleased with everything. Atmosphere is very nice, elegant, comfortable and just a very pleasant dining room. Our waiter was wonderful; he even gave us a tour of the building after our dinner. He was very knowledgeable about the menu, the building, its history and the town in general. What more could you ask of a waiter? Oh, he was also was a great waiter. I hope I tipped him enough.

Our appetizers were wonderful, excellent presentation, and the portions just right. My wife had the squid served in a pineapple, and she said it was the very best she has ever had. Every aspect of this meal was top notch. Our entrees were also well beyond our expectations. The desserts also excellent.

I have eaten at some of the best restaurants in Dallas & New Orleans, and they could learn something from these guys, some could learn a lot. My only complaint is that this restaurant is 300 miles from my home, which makes it difficult to go there as often as I would like. Definitely the best restaurant on the island, if not the entire state. Yes we loved it and will definitely go there on every visit to Galveston.

MY REVIEW: Food and waitstaff has been excellent every time I've been here. Amazing ceviche - never had some of the variations and love them all. The creme brulee sampler made me try the place the first time and now it's my favorite restaurant on Galveston island. Everything I've had has been great and I'd go back for any occasion.

MY REVIEW: We make sure we have reservations for our "special" occasions. This has become our favorite place to dine both in & out of Galveston. The service has always been friendly, prompt, but never overdone. We order something different every time & have never been disappointed. My only complaint......I can't hire the chef for myself!

MY REVIEW: I am suprised at the review about the wait staff and the smoke. I have been here several times and have had nothing but exceptional service, food and atmosphere. I have tried to make a reservation at the last minute and the only table that was open was near the bar which I graciously accepted and was happy to get in. The smoke was not an issue.

MY REVIEW: Strong points: historical building

Weak points: stuffy and hovering waitstaff looking over shoulder while trying to order. . .as if no particular waitstaff was taking care of my table. . .instead all waitstaff were half-way seeing to our needs. Just pick one and stick with him/her. Time from ordering to receiving entree was >1hour. . .LARGE SMELLY "stogey" aroma from the bar adjacent to me was diluting my filet mignon, which was not cheap for the product. My eyes were burning when I left this place. . .maybe I was tired because I waited so long for my food, or the smoke was paying its toll. Overall, food was slightly above average, pricey, and small portions. Service was both hovering and absent (I know this seems to contradict, but this is just what happened). I will not return to this restaurant. . .I'll take my family to D*iBellas or R*udy and Paco's next time.

MY REVIEW: I have been in many places, many signature chef restaurant, and this place is exceptional!!! The sugar cane salad dressing is far beyond the most amazing dressing ever. The barbecue shrimps are better that the Emeril’s restaurant in Las Vegas!!! The special touch from the chef “Franco” he takes the time to meet people and talk about his passion for his dishes. He actually wants to delight his costumer and gives the place a very warming and elegant touch. The place is beautiful, the noise is acceptable, and the variety and prices are so far better that I was expected. I strongly recommend the ceviche and the salmon; it will never disappoint the most refined taste! If you visit ask for Criss Lopez, the chef and one of the owners, they will treat you very special. The best wine selection, the best steak quality this is a “must see place in Galveston” as the best restaurant in Galveston.

MY REVIEW: I really want to like this place. First visit was outstanding, enjoyed shrimp & grits, clams w/ linguine, generous pourings of wine, professional service. Last Saturday night a little different experience. Started with the ceviche, which was fine, but they were out of the next three items we tried to order, the veal chop, clams, and a pinot noir. Will try M&M again, maybe they will do better.

MY REVIEW: Another fine dining option while in Galveston; but this chef out performs. Upscale decor, nicely dressed patrons but not coat and tie fancy. We had the mixed cerviche - outstanding; salmon again great. Wine prices varied from $5 a glass up to about $11 with plenty of choices in the $6-7 range. Saturday night was crowded but noise level was low and tables were not placed too close together. Service was good.

MY REVIEW: This place was such a nice change of pace for Galveston.

The staff from the front door all the way back were friendly, welcoming and on their mark making you feel for certain you cannot wait to come back with a group of friends, or for a romantic dinner with your special someone. The Ambiance was wonderful the place looked gorgeous. At first we were unsure of being able to get in since reservations had the place booked for tables, but we were assured great service and food at the bar. The bartenders were friendly and we were especially happy to be treated to a tour. We actually met the Chefs who spoke passionatley about their work. We watched the Ceviche and appetizers being assembled and it was similar to watching an art show beautifully done. We had a soup and the Tomato and Goat Cheese Tart it was devine. Our neighbor at my right at the bar was eating a beautiful steak and suggested the Au Gratin Potato's for the next visit. I thought the prices were very reasonable, and cannot WAIT to go back.

MY REVIEW: M&M Palms is an elegant restaurant with great atmosphere. For the most part I would recommend this restaurant. There are still a few kinks they need to work out. Our party ordered three appetizers, BBQ shrimp, goat cheese tart, and ahi tuna. The goat cheese tart was by far our favorite. Cesar salads were swimming in the dressing and the bread served was blah except for the herb butter. Our entrees were steaks, which were cooked to perfection served with very blah mashed potatoes. Creamed spinach was not creamed at all, just sautéed. The shrimp entree was extremely disappointing, 6 small shrimp of very poor quality were served for $28! A true rip off. The shrimp used in the appetizer were of far better quality. A very interesting wine list with a wine for everyone at every price. There is outside dining and live music which was very enjoyable for an after dinner drink.

Although our waiter was very informative regarding the menu his service was at times spotty; he forgot a glass of wine I ordered, forget we ordered coffee, we had to ask twice for our check, and we were charged for desert which was suppose be complimentary. I never felt rushed or crowed, which is what Rudy and P*aco’s have become. I think this restaurant will succeed if they serve better quality seafood and have more interesting sides.

MY REVIEW: Just opened in the old M & M Bar site, with that gorgeous 1880's mahogany bar and barback still there. Place looks like it got teleported from an alleway off Bourbon and Royale Street in New Orleans.

This place has changed hands in recent years and it tore at my heart to think of that beautiful venue going to waste.

Well not any more! The new owners have kept the building's lovely old Galveston interior and added more kitchen area to create a very nice, romantic dining venue a block east from 25th on Church.

My Mardi Gras krewe ladies swarmed the place to have our Queen's Luncheon. The waitstaff did a great job keeping up with all our cocktail orders and our food. The bread was delicious, came with savory butter spread. My salmon was divine. Everyone had a good word about their food and the atmosphere was fun.

You can smoke at the bar; they've put up a small half-wall and heavey-duty smoke ventilation. You could not smell it from my nearby table.

This place's been open only for a couple of months. If you get a chance to go down to Galveston and eat here, do so. Reasonable prices and lovely service.
