MY REVIEW: I had a great time at Cru. We were treated like regulars, and out waitress was very knowledgable of her wines. We ordered app's, salads, and pizza's which all came out perfectly timed, and delicious!
I will definately be going back to Cru!!

MY REVIEW: great to stop in,nice ambience, used to have a great service, but last night I stop with my son for a light dinner, we ordered fried calamari and steak pizza... no big meal.. it took forever to get our meal (almost 35 min after we ordered),we never got the bread basket after I asked for, the young lady who was in charge of our table never came by to ask if we need something else.. even my son have to asked to get the ticket after we finished to eat ... I couldn't talk with the manager because he was so busy trying to please a group of young ladies table.... what a bad service.... and it wasn't the most busy night...

MY REVIEW: While we have never eaten an entire meal here, it's great to stop in, drink a flight of wines, and snack on some of their delicious appetizers. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about the wines. The ambiance is great. It's a great, extravagant adult escape from reality without costing too much. There is nothing anything like it in The Woodlands area. Is it the best food in the Woodlands? Probably not, but it is sophisticated adult fun and definitely worth checking out for some wine and relaxation.

MY REVIEW: I found a pleasing atmosphere (inside), reasonable good cheese selection which was pleasantly arranged. However, the service obviously is hired for its looks and not ability to serve a decent wine! A Northstar 2002 Merlot was decantered and heavily tossed in the decanter thereafter, obviously to evenly distribute the sediment, and there was plenty, into the wine! I always thought, and have been taught in France, that decantering shall expose reasonably old red wine to more oxygen only through a large base decanter, and while pouring the wine from the bottle into the decanter attention shall be given, that no sediment shall flow from bottle to decanter. Obviously, the Cru service personnel was not given the right instructions, or they did not care how to serve a (non-inexpensive) red wine. Should I ever go back, I certainly will not order red wine anymore!

MY REVIEW: AMEN jeff! I totally agree with your review. I too come from a luxury hospitality service, and I know they do a great job at the establishment. As with all establishments, there is a sort of look that you want to achieve as well as feel. I think that Cru has done an excellent job for a chain. I hate to use the word chain as is canotes negativity. But for lack of another term, I use it as that is what Cru is. However they exceed the expectations of most of the chains I have been to. I applaude Cru for this.
To those who offer negative comments, if you need a sommelier, then leave the grand metropolis of The Woodlands a go to B*ennan's in Houston for a true dining experience. We should be happy that they even offer a good selection of wines you would not even find up here. Be happy that you can even get this so close to home.

MY REVIEW: Wow, it's always funny to see an amateurs perception of bad food or service. I worked in the restaurnat (fine dining) industry for several years during college. Because of this experience I have the knowledge to make accurate judgements of this upscale wine bar. The servers have always been friendly and knowledgable of both the food and wine. When one girl couldn't answer my question she politely said she would return with someone who knew more. This sparked a detailed and informative conversation with the manager who left me his card and more information that I could remember. The ambience is beautiful, the entire wall is hand painted, and the wine wall sells it. For those that think they should pay the same price for wine as they do at the grocery store should try drinking it there. As for me, a few extra bucks to be pampered suits me fine.

MY REVIEW: The problem with Cru is that the manager hires only young, attractive women without much consideration for service ability. Normally I wouldn't find this a problem being a guy, but they seem to be lost to the idea of customer service. I wouldn't expect the staff to know EVERYTHING about the wine selection, but at least an idea of what I'm looking for would help. Every time I've been there, I've had the impression that I'm annoying them and should place my order so they can hurry off.

MY REVIEW: My experience in this charming intimate place was a wonderful one, how could you not fall in love with the ambiance and service of this delightful find. I thought the staff was knowledgable and friendly. I didn't run into the "wine snobbery" here at all, which I find I run into in most restaurants and wine shops. The food was outstanding and satisfying. I love the Bibb Salad with Artichoke Hearts and Oranges, the dressing was perfectly light and unobtrusive. The Steak Pizza was remarkable and ingenious. Cru has definitely become one of my favorite places in the Woodlands. I feel that it is the perfect everyday wine bar.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I were overall pleased with our experience at Cru, with the exception of our waitress who was very rude, never smiled, and rushed us through everything from questions about the wine flights to our order. She even started to walk away after taking my husbands order first, forgetting me altogether. The food and wine were great!

MY REVIEW: We decided to try Cru because we had strolled past before and thought it looked interesting. We were greeted inside the door and told a table would be available but we could sit at the bar. We sampled a flight of wine each (the Sexy Shiraz and the Merlot) and enjoyed the tasting and the comparisons. Yes, the bartender/steward was not friendly, but we were there to enjoy ourselves. We were shown our table, and enjoyed a wonderful dinner with another flight of wine - the Sexy Shiraz. From fresh, different, and superbly flavorful salads, to blue crab cakes and mussels - both of which were the best we've tasted in this entire area, we thought the dining was excellent. The chef himself presented the pot of mussels to our table. We thought it was the best food in Market Square and definitely will return. The prices are higher, but the wine, food, and service are unequaled in the neighborhood.

MY REVIEW: I'd have to agree with "Ravinio" about the service and prices. Although the wine selection is interesting, the prices are a little steep for what you get and the staff are not at all knowledgeable. The waitress we had seemed put out that we weren't ordering more than one flight a piece and one appetizer. She plunked down the wine, appetizer and we never saw her again. We had to track her down to get our check. We'll probably give 'em one more try.

MY REVIEW: A really good selection of good and hard-to-find wine. There, I said the positive. Now for the other stuff. My dining companion and I sat down at a table (we weren't greeted by anyone, so we just assumed we could sit down). We had to pilfer menus from a table that had just recently been vacated, and when I went inside to check out the cool wine wall, I was passed by by at least 4 people I was sure worked there without so much as a "hello." After spending around 10 minutes perusing the wall, I went back outside to find that a server still had not been to our table yet, so we left and walked down the way to La M*adeleine, where we were greeted warmly (nice change). We decided to still give the wine a chance (they did have some good selections after all), so we went back and sat at the bar. The flights were well presented and good in quality, but the bartender just poured the wine, dropped the flight info card, and walked away. Not friendly. I considered getting a bottle, but the prices were extravagant to say the least. Bottle prices are between 2 and 3 times retail, which to me, is a bit much. Also, charging $14.00 for a glass of $20.00-a-bottle wine seems just short of outrageous. Both the T*asting Room and C*ova have better prices and better service. For those in the Woodlands, it's worth the drive to go to these other two places.
