The ambiance is great, especially on a Friday or Saturday night when John is playing guitar. The drinks are wonderful, especially when the waitstaff remembers your preference!! The food is good but a bit patchy ... the steaks are consistently good and I've had wonderful bits of fish that Ernie gets delivered in from the coast, but I've also had a few dishes that didn't really inpire me. For folks from Houston or Austin the food might disappoint, but stick to the steak or the fettucine and anything chocolate and you'll love it. Service is generally great but sometimes the local kids are a bit green; there just isn't a 'professional waiter' type career to be had in Brenham. But they're sweet and all in all we love this place. NAME: brenhamtransplant SUBMITTED: 2/23/2008   LAST VISIT WAS: February 2007 FREQUENCY: Everybody here knows my name... MY REVIEW: I picked this restaurant because their online menu had a vegetarian option (hard to find in Brenham). They don't serve that anymore. The waiter said they could "throw some vegetables together" for me but I desided on a salad, which wasn't bad, and the portobella mushroom appetizer for my entre. It was half a mushroom cap with cheese and green peppercorn sauce. I was disappointed in the fact that he knew this was my dinner and didn't have them give me the whole cap. I was glad there was bread and used it to sop up the sauce which was good. My dinner companion had the sirloin. It was served in a bowl with a potato and egg dish and sauteed bok choi. The steak was tough and the potatos were bland. He didn't try the bok choi. This place is way over priced for what you get.
