MY REVIEW: Great restaurant with a fantastic chef. Everything my wife and I have had here has been tasty but a few stick out for me.

The Hot Fish, fried, spicy flounder over round egg noodles. The best I've ever had and I go back for more almost every week.

The Monks Delight, a nice light tofu dish with some veggies

The crab dumplings, not just cream cheese in a wonton like everyone else. Very unique flavor and not just extra crab. I am really not sure exactly what is in these, but you must experience them.

MY REVIEW: Fantastic family service. The egg drop soup (off menu) is really delicious. My favorite entree: baby eggplant in some kind of plum sauce. The only suggestion for Stephanie and mom: get RID of the air freshners!!

MY REVIEW: Nice presentation and clean restaurant. But compare to price small portion.

For that price I rather go other restaurant. I do not mean food is bad. They are more than average.

MY REVIEW: My favorite restaurant in Houston! What everyone else has said about the ambience, friendliness and cleanliness speaks for itself. I too have had many excellent meals there, and proclaim the Teriyaki Ribeye to be my favorite. I've made special trips just for that, with the lemon rice. When i want to impress, I go to the Bamboo House.

MY REVIEW: Asian fusion is the right description here. Terrific food, great service, in a quiet and inviting atmosphere. They have the best hot and sour soup in Houston, and the chicken curry is amazing. I've sampled most of the dishes on their menu now, and have never been disappointed. I highly recommend this place.

MY REVIEW: Checked out the Bamboo House last night - WOW! If you do not eat at this restaurant then you will miss out on some of the best asian food in Houston. As a self-professed, professor of food, native Houstonian and very particular eater - The Bamboo House left me wanting to share my experience with you all. The crab dumplings are a perfect blend of crab meat and cream cheese in a very light dumpling - could have made a meal on the appetizers alone. Followed that up with General Chicken - Their version of General Tsao very light, nice blend of spices and pure white meat chicken, combined that with the very lightly done, Walnut shrimp. The atmosphere was quaint, and conversational (you can actually hear your conversation with dinner partners. They have a small but encompassing wine collection and the Banana roll for dessert was just the right complement to our meal. My suggestion - better get by there for a try before the lines begin to build up! Matter of fact - Go tonight.

MY REVIEW: We have visited Bamboo House many times and it never disappoints. We are "foodies" and very particular about our restaurant experiences. Bamboo House is a standout. The food is fresh and delicious, the staff are what all restauranteurs should aspire to--welcoming, friendly, efficient. The ambience is relaxing, casual, tastefully decorated.

We always order the Crab Dumplings. They are addicting! The green tea is wonderful. Everything we ordered was delicious. If the udon is not spicy enough, they will bring chile sauce on the side so you can make it as hot as you like. It is not nasty, Chinese buffet food; the menu is geared to diners who want to taste subtle, wonderful, fresh flavor. This is a keeper and promises only to improve, if that is possible!

MY REVIEW: Food is delicious, but you cannot miss the deserts. Please when you go, make sure you leave room for the succulent mochi (green tea and mango are my favorites).

The restaurant is very, very clean. Nice ambiance. Excellent service. ONE OF MY FAVORITES SPOTS IN HOUSTON.

MY REVIEW: Quiet, nice and clean lines make this restaurant pleasant and comfortable; though you wouldn't know from the shopping center on the outside, probably for a nice lunch or a Sunday afternoon. Asian fusion mix with a small menu, but with a nice variety of foods. The salmon rolls were lightly fried and offers a nice spicy wasabi dip. The shrimp tempura is excellent for a lightly fried and tastey appetizer. My husband has the General's chicken which had a nice spicy and sweet flavor. I had the beef lo mein which I would normally only order for take out, but it was excellent! Very tastey, the beef is very tender and just melts in your mouth. I would definitely order the dish again. The menu offers a couple of sushi roles, one thai curry dish, and several chinese entres, which gives the restaurant a nice mix of tastes, including a nice wine menu. We will definitely go back!

MY REVIEW: The generic strip center exterior could not be more of a contrast to the lovely restaurant inside. Like opening the door to a precious jewelry box, the delicate interior of Bamboo House sits as a quiet, tastefull haven for a blended menu of exquisite Asian food.

Staff and owner are helpful and attentive, the meals are wonderful presentations, excellent renditions of favorites. We've enjoyed delicious sushi, Walnut shrimp, and Singapore Noodles. I highly recommend this new restaurant and hope for it's long success.

MY REVIEW: Clean, slightly upscale restaurant. Prices are higher than what you'd expect from a Chinese restaurant. Actually, I'd label the food "Asian fusion" with a heavy focus on the American palette. There are Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese dishes on the menu. I got the hot and sour soup and udon with shrimp tempura. Both were quite disappointing, particularly the udon soup, which had no flavor. Other reviews are positive, so perhaps I ordered the wrong dishes. Between this restaurant and P*ei Wei, I'm visiting P*ei Wei next time - not to say that P*ei Wei is all that. If you want really tasty Chinese food, there is no substitute for Bellaire.

MY REVIEW: Being Asian, I had become sorely disappointed with the expectations of Chinese food across most of Houston… those buffets and “lunch specials” are in no way authentic and barely edible! And, does anyone know that PF C*hang’s and P*ei-Wei are owned by an American corporation?!

Luckily, Bamboo House is located close to my apartment complex. It is owned and operated by the Chow family, and as other diners have noted in their reviews below, the Chef (Stephanie) and Co-Owner (Mrs. Chow) are often visiting tables to get to know their customers and make sure their dining experience is enjoyable. The waitstaff are friendly and attentive, but not to the extent of being overbearing. And the lighting and atmosphere are very clean, soothing, and tastefully minimalist… perfect for an intimate meal with conversation or even a dinner party.

But let’s talk about the most important part: the Food. One try of the Beef with Leeks and the Shrimp Tempura and I was hooked. I have also tried the Teriyaki Ribeye, the Walnut Shrimp, and the Shrimp in Cilantro Lime Vinaigrette salad, and was equally amazed at the quality of food and presentation. I also have an extremely sweet tooth, so I’ve tried all of the desserts at one point or another… they are ALL good, but definitely try the Mochi ice cream, banana roll (fried banana served with ice cream), and the Sticky Rice with Red Bean… you won’t regret it.

I would and have returned to this place because it’s a great find in Houston. And if I don’t feel like leaving the apartment, I’ll just get something delivered… ;)

MY REVIEW: Did I mention that this restaurant is NOT a "Chinese" restaurant in the hole-in-the-wall, shrimp fried rice served with an eggroll, or all-you-can-eat buffet definition of the type?

This restaurant is a product of traditions and innovations. If one is a true connoisseur of food, one would know that udon is a traditional Japanese dish and not Chinese food. And unless one is willing to drive to Bellaire Blvd, then you haven't really tried real "Chinese" food either.

This restaurant is a great addition to the Houston scene. There are so many different dishes with various influences that keeps me coming back.

MY REVIEW: I am shocked by all these positive reviews. I work across the street and love Chinese food, so I was excited about this place opening. I went one day for lunch, and I can honestly say thgis is the worst chinese restaurant I have been to in Houston. And I have been to a lot of really bad ones. I got the seafood udon noodle soup and it had absolutely no flavor. It was just noodles in hot water. The miso soup was edible, but nothing special. Given the horrid quality of the food, you might think that the prices would be reasonable, but no, I paid over $10 for that hot water. Go next door to subway... it is an incredible gourmet dining experience compared to this place.

MY REVIEW: I was taken here on a birthday lunch by coworkers and i was a bit skeptical at first. It is very clean, nice setting. I had the beef lo mein and it was finally what i had been looking for, i used to live in NY and i have been looking for beef lo mein that tastes like the authentic kind they sell in chinatown, well i have found it and I'll be back for more. Oh and try the peach tea.

MY REVIEW: What a great spot! I'm a real expert on Won Ton Soup, and they are off the charts!

The Shimp Tempura is the best I've ever had, even in New York.

It's family owned, and they are there ALL the time. The atmosphere is soothing, comfortable, and immaculate. As a matter of fact, just writing about it is getting me hungry to go there! You won't be disapointed.

MY REVIEW: I am sick with the flu and needed some soup from the closiest place around. I decided to get some Hot and Sour soup from any Chinese restaurant and my first stop was at the Bamboo House. This was the best Hot and Sour soup I've had. Additionally, I order Chicken and Noodle soup which they did not even make or have on the menu. Nevertheless the owner asked the Chef if they had the ingredients to make it, the Chef said yes and made it for me. Ladies and Gentlemen, it was some of the best Chicken and Noodle soup in Houston. Real plump chicken breast, soft noodles in an awesome chinese broth. This was the first time they made it and was the perfect soup for my cold. This place is UNBELIEVABLE. The only downside I keep running into with this place is that they need larger portions.

MY REVIEW: I drop by for a quick lunch and was not expecting much from the place, but what a suprise i had! I was expecting chinese fast food quality, however, when i looked over the menu i found it was not a typical chinese restaurant. They had pad thai, sushi, and rib-eye.A very interesting mix of food compare to all the other restaunt. I tried the pan-friend noodle and fried salamon roll. it was excellent. Truthfully it was better than what i had predicted. I would defiently will come back!!!

MY REVIEW: pretty and sleek-looking bistro-type Chinese fusion restaurant, very nice chef Stephanie and friendly waitstaff, healthy and high quality food - the prices do run on the very slightly high side for the amount of food (maybe $1.50 or $2 higher than I might like), but in general, it is reasonable, it is nice not to come away feeling fat and sleepy like one might after eating at most Chinese restaurants because the food is prepared with an emphasis on flavor not fat

i am very excited that this new place has opened

i am a very picky high-end diner and i think this is a solid restaurant that i hope will succeed

MY REVIEW: Clean. Very Clean. Nice atmosphere with friendly staff. Anna was awesome and extremely cute. I order the Walnut Shrimp with noodles instead of rice. The shrimp were perfect, krisp on the outside, soft and juicy on the inside. That orange, walnut sauce was the bomb. I sent the noodles back to the kitchen and got fried rice. Those noodles had no flaver what so every. I will definetly go back there and back there fast.

MY REVIEW: I came there on a thursday lunch shift. I was one of the first ones there and and was served quite quickly. Business was pretty slow but picked up halfway through my meal. i ordered the sweet and sour chicken and i abolutely love it! its not drenched in sauce and still has that crispy taste! Plus they have regular ice tea since P*EI WEI doesnt have it cause that use to be my lunch spot. Oh and i just found out they deliver also so if im caught up with work i will call in a order for delivery!

I recommend this place to anyone if you are looking for a nice comfy sit down restaraunt! 5 stars out of 5!

MY REVIEW: All i can say is the food here is awesome! So far ive tried a little more than half of their dishes and i can honestly say i have not been dissapointed. Ever since the restaurant open, ive been on a mission to try out all of their dishes on the menu. Entres that stands out the most to me are the beef and leeks dish and the teriyaki ribeye. The appetizers here are also worth mentioning (but i wont list anymore to keep this short). Overall, if you are looking for a nice atmosphere, outstanding service, and most of all quality asian food, you cannot go wrong with BAMBOO HOUSE. Only gripe i have about this place is that it would be nice if it opens til midnight since I eat late.
