MY REVIEW: Always great beer selection. Excellent and interesting food. Fabulous location and atmosphere. I'm a lifelong Houstonian and being in their beergarden is like being at the big family gatherings we had in the Heights way-back-when. Sure wish this place would get a real website, though, instead of just stupid facebook.

MY REVIEW: We are very pleased with the huge parking lot addition at our favorite pub in the United States of America - no, the world! The burgers are fabulous, especially the rancor which we always split. The drunken rueben is fabulous as well as all the other food such as hummus, meatloaf sandwich and much more. Love the new menus. The beer selection is phenomenal, and the atmosphere is eclectic. I see families with babies, groups of old men and bikers, bicyclists, couples on dates. You name it. If you are not laid back enough to enjoy this place, don't show up.

MY REVIEW: We live in the hood and have been guilty of taking our kids for a bite to eat but always early and we sit outside ( and our kids are well behaved). Burgers and fries are great and the kids love the wings. Great beer selection. Really an ideal neoghborhood place to hang. We love it.

MY REVIEW: Good: quirky place that is not a rubber-stamped joint. Great selection of micro-brews and they seemed to have a nice lineup of wines. HINT: here in houston, wines should be in a cooler location. Our idea of room temp is much different than France!
Neat atmosphere, not a big place, but has a nice front and back patio.
I did not eat here, but everyone I asked that was eating said it was great.
I didnt see any kids when I was there, but maybe they've gotten the hint: Sign on the cash register said "Unattended Children will be given Caffeine and a Free Puppy" LOLOL - hopefullly yuppie parents will curb their "perfect" children's enthusiasm.

MY REVIEW: This place is a neigborhood place on Steroids.
*They have a fantastic beer selection and rotate the selection daily.
* Petrol is adding a nice wine selection in February 2010. *The menu is perfect, 6 sandwiches, Shepherds Pie, and Parmesan dusted french fries. * a cozy, personable setting.
The only negative for this great place is that it seems a little disorganized. Hey, their quirky nature works for them. Keep it up Petrol

MY REVIEW: My favorite burger in Houston. I love "The Rancor"/hold the egg. The bun is second to none. Amazing little place. I'm probably there once a week. Super nice owner and staff. Great beer selection. I'm not so hardcore on my beers, I wish they would stock a couple of additional sissy Pilsers for the nights I have to get up and go to work the next morning. :) Other than that, adding some fans on the patio to help with the smoke and mosquitos would improve an already great hangout.

MY REVIEW: The food, unfortunately for me, is really good. But I will never go back because of the kids running around, squealing loudly, and crawling all over the very confined area. Uncontrolled children in a bar/restaurant makes my skin crawl.

MY REVIEW: I had heard their burgers were good. NO - the burgers are GREAT! Thick, juicy, just plain awesome. Can't forget the bun either. Just plain loved it. I had a nice glass of wine. But the rest of my family are beer drinkers. They were in paradise. Just go and enjoy.

MY REVIEW: Great neighborhood bar and grill. Beer choice is outstanding, and the burgers are just as good as my old standby, M*iller's Cafe, on Shepherd. The patrons are all friendly and appear to be from the local area. This place is out of the way which precludes your normal mix of clientel that just pass through.
On the downside, the a/c is a little weak for Houston humidity. Also, the last time that I was in, somebody came in with a petulant little girl, and you can guess where they had to put her....at the bar, right next to me! To get her to calm down, the mother took her into the other part of the bar and let her bang on the drums at the bandstand. I finished my $20 worth of beer and burger in about 5 minutes flat and got out before the meltdown. I still like their burgers, so next time I will just order out or surevy for kids before sitting down.

MY REVIEW: ALL the food here is home-cooked and home-prepped, even to hand-cutting the fries from fresh potatoes. The lamb burger is pure decadence on a bun. The hummus is freshly made, and a masterpiece to gnosh on while you savor any number of brews on tap.
Darren is rarely seen, cooking away in the "Cave," while Ben is behind the bar serving my next favorite beer. All the regulars here are on a nodding acquaintance, and most are known by name.
It simply doesn't get any better than this.

MY REVIEW: I am not a great one for children running around when I am eating or drinking, but I would forgive them anything for the lamb and beefburgers, and the Caesar salad in both mountainous and very tasty.
They might need to make the fries a little crispier, but it really does not matter, the burgers are enough.

MY REVIEW: The recently revamped menu is astounding! Outstanding burgers, incredible beer selection and the best blue cheese dressing in the universe. What more could a person ask for?! A must try for a lovely night.

MY REVIEW: This was the first time I went her (I live in Oak Forest). I loved it! I can't wait until they have food. Great beer. Who needs 200 to choose from? Excellent music choice. I can't wait to ride my bike over for another beer.

MY REVIEW: To be totally upfront, I drink here... ...a lot. I fully suspect that I will purchase one of the kid's college degrees through the sheer amount of Real Ale Full Moon Pale Rye and other assorted liquid goodies that I filter through my kidneys. That aside, yes it is not corporate, there are kids running everywhere half the time, yes the owner could get off his rear and sweep a few more times, but kids running in and out all day do drag a few leaves in. Yes the owner might take a second while he finishes with one of his regulars. But even I have to wait for beer from time to time.
If you want a sterile cookie cutter atmosphere and service that borders on prostitution then go to s*tarbucks or c*hili's or whatever gives you the warm fuzzies. This is a family place, run by a family, meaning from the owners all the way to the clients are all families and nearly family to each other. Everybody is welcome so long as you remember that families are loud, obnoxious, not perfect, and pure heaven.
That aside, the coffee, roasted on sight, is the best I've ever had in my life. I've lived all over the world. I am not kidding, it is freaking awesome. They do need more taps, but from what they've told me big changes are on the way; including a bigger deck, a big fence, 4 times the beer, and a bigger menu.
I'm just worried that my little secret is about to get real big.
