MY REVIEW: Ellen Ray's Creaole Restaurant was great. She prepared some of the dishes for our thanksgiving meal. The Spicy Broccoli Rice Casserole, Candied Yams Okra and Tomatoes, Seasoned Green Beans were wonderful. Each dish was well prepared and was a true tast of home style. The baked ham was garnished with pineapples and cherries and was very very good. Thanks Ellen for making our thanksgiving special.

MY REVIEW: Ellen Ray's is one of the hidden treasures of Houston. The food is Cajun home cooking with a Creole touch; the real stuff from the Parishes, not New Orleans imitation. The cook is from Port Arthur, where Texas meets South Louisiana. Shame, it is only open to the public for Thursday nite dinner and Sunday brunch; don't miss it ! Get reservations.

MY REVIEW: This place is awesome if you're looking for an upscale African-American owned and frequented dining establishment. Although there are no menus, and what you see is what you get.... What you get will be one of the best meals you'll ever have!
Ellen's is only open to the public for dinner on Thursday's. The atmosphere is simply elegant with candlelights, floral centerpieces, a grand piano, and often some wonderful live jazz entertainment.

MY REVIEW: Awesome ambience, great Creole food, not enough space in the restaurant nor bar part. Bout of course, what would probably kill the ambience. Ellen works great with you for special functions for brunch or dinner. Wine selections at Brandy's are great!
