MY REVIEW: I don't usually order food. I normally go to the SW Fwy location where I always find outstanding, empowered, eager to please service, time after time. I usually go there for their baked goods, which are really excellent and well-priced. Their coffee is normally very good, do not understand criticism of it. The food I've had there is also good, and a good value.

That said, I have visited other CB locations. I am not that surprised about comments of lack of professional service, I think the ownership is different, or at least the management is different from one location to the next.

MY REVIEW: Stopped for lunch - ordered the combo with a ceasar salad and the ham on pretzel bread. The dressing on the salad was almost non-existant - a couple of pieces of lettuce had a light coating on it and there was one small bit on a crouton. Sandwich was slightly above average by using the pretzel bread. Otherwise nothing exciting. $10 with an ice tea. Location was noisy over lunch but I've been in worse. Service was a tad slow for what I ordered - took over 10 minutes for a cold sandwich and poorly dressed salad to come out.

On the plus side - the AC wasn't freezing you out of the restaurant like so many other places these days.

MY REVIEW: Good location to meet people for breakfast. I had the banana muffin and it was good, but sure wish it had nuts. (Note: It did say banana muffin, not banana nut muffin, so I knew what I was getting into.) Another person in our party had a chocolate based muffin and said it was wonderful.

MY REVIEW: I ordered the half sandwich/soup combo. It came to $8.43(incl. tax). The soup (I had chili) was on the small side but was OK. However, it comes plain, no cheese, onions, etc). I ordered a chicken panini which was a major disappointment. There were two very small slices of chicken on the bread and it covered about 1/2 of the bread. There was a glob of mayonnaise in one corner and some tomotoe in the other corner. I was so disappointed that I asked the manager about it. He replyed that it should be 2 oz. of chicken. I didn't have a scale or frame of reference for what 2 oz. of chicken should look like, but I can say that it was a major disappointment to see that sandwich. I will never eat there again.

MY REVIEW: The breakfast panini was great. I didn't encounter the hard bread problem that other people seemed to have. Maybe the panini bread is different?

The coffee, Baker's Blend or whatever, was horrid. My choices were Baker's Blend, decaf, or hazelnut.

MY REVIEW: Bread not fresh. Sandwich was overpriced and vegetarian ravioli tasted like Chef Boyardee. Much better lunch options in the area. Won't return.

MY REVIEW: We have had dinner there on two nights and enjoyed a 1/2 Panini and a bowl of soup and both times they were quite good. On Sunday 1/25/09 we had lunch and luckily got there before noon so we were able to get a table and fast service. Again, the food was very good and we think it is reasonably priced.

MY REVIEW: Ordered lunch to go and waited 20 minutes-watched staff do each others hair and one waiter start to laugh, and spit ice and water onto a plate of food that I watched another waiter pick up and carry to a table. When I asked about my order, no one seemd to know what to do. Finally someone said that it was probably sent out to a table. Took another 10 minutes to recover food and plate to go. Staff was incredibly slow and really did not care. Lunch was awful-bread was hard and inedible, caesar salad was old and brown. DO NOT BOTHER

MY REVIEW: Bladerunnernyc is absolutely right...the bread is was so hard it was inedible and the food it very overpriced for what you get. My companion had the salad trip ...chicken salad and fruit salad very good but tuna was oily and bitter. Will not return nor recommend it.

MY REVIEW: Chocolate Brownie is incredibly yummy..almost better than sex, but I'm married to an India and it's hard to compete with the Kama Sutra. You have to stop in even if it's only to pick up a chocolate brownie. The best I've ever had, and I've had a lot of them.

MY REVIEW: The bread was so hard I wondered why they bothered serving it? The cookie was good for desert, as was the salad, but the food was priced too high considering what you got, but all of the robots waiting on line didn't seem to mind, then again, they are use to it! I thought this place was supposed to be good!

MY REVIEW: I've been to the Corner Bakery twice and had great experiences with the food. I have to say it gets really crowded fast and the cashiers can be a bit befuddled, but the food and location overcompensates for that. Be sure to get a cookie!

MY REVIEW: When my friends and I first tried CB the line was out the door and we were worried we would not find a seat. However, we received our food promptly, found seats and were pleased with their food. The sandwiches and salads were great. Recently, they catered a large lunch and we had no problems. The food was great and it arrived on time. My friends and I go there for lunch at least once a week and will continue to enjoy their food and outdoor seating.

MY REVIEW: The cakes are wonderful, but as a lunch spot, it disappoints. Overpriced sandwiches poorly presented. I ordered a sandwich on toast and a small caesar salad. The sandwich toast was so hard, it cracked some of my dental work! No lie! The sandwich was parked IN the caesar salad, which had no dressing. That was served on the side -- the diner is supposed to toss his own.

Very slow service; line out the door; staff wandering the restaurant with bewildered looks on their faces.

Won't go back, in spite of the cinnamon spice cake!

MY REVIEW: I've waited a long time for my favorite "quick lunch" spot to make its way from Dallas. It didn't disappoint. The DC Chicken Salad (chicken, red onions, special mayonnaise, and currants) is still sublime, and the breakfast offerings look terrific, too. Welcome to Houston, CB!
