MY REVIEW: Really consistent quality. Love the variety and healthy choices. Had the Veggie Burger today with sweet potato fries, stunned me how good it was. Place was packed for lunch. I guess word is getting around.

Last week had the grilled talapia platter, it too was outstanding. These folks are laying out some really good groceries!

MY REVIEW: My husband and I stumbled upon Cafe Mezza & Grille this afternoon, and we will definitely become repeat visitors! It had very nice ambience, the wait staff was friendly and attentive, and the menu was pleasantly eclectic. We ordered the 3-appetizer combo as our starter and LOVED IT! The fetoush salad was fresh and flavorful with a very pleasant texture. The hummus was the best that I have tasted in Houston! And the red pepper dip was deliciously spicy and sweet. For my entree, I had the Kufta Kabob and was pleased with my steaming plate of nicely spiced meat, aromatic rice and grilled vegetables. It was delicious! My husband ordered a grilled fish dish, and he was equally pleased. The prices were also very reasonable for the amount of food that we received.

The only major drawbacks were: 1) the restrooms, which were far from clean and pristine and which were out of paper towels when we visited; 2) the limited dessert menu, which seemed to have nothing to do with the largely Meditteranean theme of the restaurant; and 3) the music, which seemed more fitting for an American chain restaurant than for a Meditteranean restaurant as elegant as Cafe Mezza. Something slower paced and a bit more exotic would have made more sense for this restaurant.

All in all, though, we enjoyed our experience, and we will definitely visit again!

MY REVIEW: Three visits and I still can't stop ordering the Mixed Grill Platter. You get 3 different tastes and the rice and grilled veggies are wonderful. Others in our group had very different dishes, all to rave reviews. Excellent choice for Sunday lunch, the only time we've been. My wife had the buttered chicken with scallped potatoes and I got a tast of it. Also terrific. Highly recommend this place, but don't be in a hurry.

MY REVIEW: I agree with most of the reviewers: the menu is expansive and often creative, the portions generous, and the prices fair. What a shame that the atmosphere is such an uninspired introduction to what the kitchen has to offer. The generic music, furniture, and multiple TVs might cause the casual passerby to keep on going without looking at the menu or tasting the food. Since many of the dishes lean toward middle eastern fusion, couldn't the music be equally interesting?

And what is with all the TVs? The only people I have seen watching them are the staff, which surely undermines service attentiveness. They are distracting.

MY REVIEW: We met friends at Cafe Mezza for Sunday lunch. The menu is very large and despite the restaurant's name, very eclectic, although there are a good number of Middle Eastern standards. We ordered a plate of three different appetizers for the table - hummus, baba ganoush and falafel. All three were excellent, the hummus in particular was as good as I've had away from home. A slightly jarring note - tortillas were served with the appetizers instead of pita bread.

I had the falafel wrap for my main course and it was wonderful - crunchy falafel, crisp salad, with a refreshing mint dressing, and more of the hummus. My spouse had the chicken shawarma and raved about it, while my daughter had the Mediterranean grilled cheese, which was served with sweet potato fries, another cultural disconnect but she didn't seem to care. One of our friends had the same thing she always does at Mezza - a grilled vegetable plate that looked wonderful.

Excellent lunch, pleasant (if uninspired) dining room and good service. We'll be back.

MY REVIEW: A friend and I stumbled upon this wonderful restaurant and loved every bite of our lunch. I had a delicious roasted vegetable salad. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The restaurant itself was clean and beautiful, and the wait staff was very attentive. I plan to take more friends there tonight for dinner as we love great Middle Eastern cuisine.

MY REVIEW: The Best ever!!!! Everything was excellent from the food, atmosphere and the service. We had a fantastic shrimp appetizer, the dinner specials Crusted Salmon and Grilled New Zealand Lamb Chops.

All of the above are to die for. Then we finished our meal with several fantastic desserts and coffee. Love this restaurant and will definately be back.

Overall it was a great experience and a great evening. Thanks Cafe Mezza!

MY REVIEW: I think I found my new favorite Mediterranean restaurant in Houston. This place really has it all. The atmosphere, the food the service and the prices are wonderful. On top of that, it's a BYOB with no corking fee!

Mel, went out of his way to make us feel welcome. It is rare that you are treated like a repeat customer on your very first visit. Thank you, Mel!

I have a small circle of friends that, like me, loves dining and we exchange tips on great finds like Mezza. I am IMPRESSED, no better word describes my experience at Mezza. Try it, you will be too!

MY REVIEW: I heard so many good things about this place, my G/F and I checked it out on a very cold, rainy Saturday night. We were not disappointed, night by a longshot! Cage Mezza features Meditterranean with New American flair, and it works quite well(a good indicator for me of a restaurant's variety is my girlfriend, who is famously picky about what she eats...she was quite happy with her Roast Potato Soup and Baba Ganooch). The staff was friendly and efficient, and the decor is cool in an unobtrusive sort of way (wasn't too crazy about the FM radio "smooth jazz" on the speakers, but even Kenny G. couldn't ruin my Mixed Grill Platter).

MY REVIEW: The food is absolutely FANTASTIC!!!!!!!! The plates are very generous as well as fairly priced. The fusion of flavor is unbelievable as well as the BYOB charge of only $5.00, that is just GREAT because I can enjoy my own bottle of wine with out a glass charge. The staff were more than accomidating and friendly. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves great food at great prices.

MY REVIEW: I really enjoy Cafe Mezza. The atmosphere is great, especially at night. It's very laid back and romantic at night. The food is great. I had the Chicken Shawarma Sandwich with a side of hummus, and it was very filling and tasted WONDERFUL. The service was very good as well.

MY REVIEW: An excellent restaurant. We searched out a "good BYOB" establishment, and all the reviews were good on this one, so we went. We eat out a lot and thus have a lot of locations to compare to: Cafe Mezza is among the best food we have eaten in Houston... Laid back atmosphere, but service great. Seems like a fun place to just "wander" into and uncork a bottle of wine.

We will definitely be back

MY REVIEW: I have mixed feelings about Cafe Mezza & Grille. Let me start by saying I eat there at LEAST once a week, and have been for over a month now. I have experienced this establishment at it's worst, and at it's best.

THE FOOD:
The key word for Cafe Mezza's food is INCONSISTENT. I order the Sesame Grilled Chicken Salad quite often. It's become a sort of game. I like to call it, "Will I get sesame wonton strips today?" I do always enjoy mezza's burgers, except on occasion when it is undercooked (medium, I order well done.) The bread pudding is heaven on a spoon. The espresso is always great, but served in a different fashion every time, which keeps it fun. I do like fun coffee and desserts. I CAN get that here EVERY time.

THE ATMOSPHERE:
Many televisions...something to keep you occupied if you aren't enjoying your conversation. The waitstaff is always on top of their game, wether I order at the counter during lunch, or have table service in the evening. It's refreshing to see people busy at work, even if the dining room is empty. The semi-open kitchen is a pleasure, a testament to Mezza's comforting mix of minimalism and soft shapes. Whenever I sit at a table I do feel exposed if the restaraunt isn't busy. If I have to hear another "top 40's easy listening song", I may fall asleep. If you are going to be an American restaraunt with a Mediterranean flair, by all means, don't play AM gold. Play something WITH a mediterranean flair.

SUMMARY:
The inconsistent food is not really a problem, since the dishes are of high quality. If something is done incorrectly, it will be prepared again and it will be corrected. I like that about this place. Except for the music feeling like torture at times, I always enjoy my visit to Cafe Mezza and Grille. I have and will continue to visit this establisment at least once a week. It has become a mainstay.

MY REVIEW: Eclectic menu with lots of appetizers, salads, soups, sandwiches, pasta, and main course specials. A bowl of soup will feed a table of 4 for appetizers.

The specials of the day generally rival anything at a more "upscale" restaurant in Houston--the blackened fish with avocado-mango salsa and grilled shrimp, scalloped potatoes, and grilled asparagus was excellent. The chocolate cake was more than enough for 2 to share (and good enough to want to take the leftovers home for later).

It is a very nice environment showcasing some local artists' paintings on the walls of the restaurant. Great service, great food. Give it a try and I doubt you'll be disappointed.

MY REVIEW: I LOVE this place! The food is wonderful! I have yet to try something that I haven't loved. . .I am particularly fond on the sweet potato french fries! They are a MUST HAVE! My friends and I love that it is BYOB and that they do not have a corking fee! That is always a plus! Another awesome thing is that they are open late...4:00 AM on the weekends! The atmosphere is very casual...a come as you are kind of feel. It really is the perfect place to meet your friends after a long day at work, crack open a bottle of wine..or two or three ;) and relax.

MY REVIEW: This place is fantastic!! My friends and I are busy trying to try out everything on the menu because everything we've had so far has been WONDERFUL!! The red pepper dip is just to die for. The food is SO fresh and light. The chicken dishes are always cooked to perfection. The homemade salad dressings are out of this world. And with their incredibly generous BYOB policy and late hours, I certainly hope Cafe Mezza is here to stay!

MY REVIEW: Great casual restaurant with very friendly service. Visited a couple of times for lunch, enjoying their Mezza Salad, Tenderloin salad, and the grilled vegetable salad. Went one evening with a friend and 3 tween girls, who wanted appetizers and to split an entree. We ordered and asked for 2 additional plates. When dinner came, they brought the entree already split three ways for the girls.

Their Mezza Red Pepper dip is great. Very unusual. Haven't tried the desserts, but will after reading the reviews here.

MY REVIEW: Over the past 6 months, Cafe Mezza & Grille has become one of our favorite restaurants. The restaurant is located on Westheimer in the same strip center at The M*elting Pot. I'm not sure what keeps bringing us back: the comfortable and friendly atmosphere, the great variety of fresh and healthy foods, the generous BYOB policy, the great desserts or the reasonable prices. Heck, it must be a combination of all of them.

For lunch, you order at the counter and they bring your food. Recently, they added in table wait service during the dinner hour. They market themselves as an American Cafe with a Mediterranean flair...a very accurate description. For the before meal "snack" they have a self serve bar with pitas, pita chips and variety of pickled vegetables. We always start by sharing the Mezza Salad. It has an incredible garlic buttermilk parmesean dressing. The $5.95 version is more than enough to split between 2 people. We usually order from the Mezza Grill section of the menu. There are also appetizers, great looking pastas and a wide variety of sandwiches. We usually get one of the skewer platters with generous portions of a variety of meats. The chicken and beef are both outstanding. Dishes are served with a huge portion of basmati saffron rice and grilled vegetables. They are very flexible in substituting sides. One evening they were featuring a wild mushroom risotto in one of the specials and I got that instead of the rice. We have never left room for dessert but the case at the front counter is always filled with incredible home made desserts.

The atmosphere is very warm and friendly. You will be made to feel like an old friend! They are open until like 3 or 4:00am and claim to be very busy. They also have a patio for outside dining. Overall, this is a fantastic restaurant. The only odd thing is Caffe Mezza & Grille is never packed. We always get a table right away. I can't imagine every needing a reservation. I don't think you will be disappointed with this great find.

MY REVIEW: I LOVE IT!!!! I am a very picky eater and yet I love their food. My husband and have been there about 6 times in one week. The chips are great. The strawberry creme cake is divine and so is the chocolate cake. Good luck Cafe Mezza. I will spread the word about you.

MY REVIEW: Awesome new restaurant! Large portions of perfectly grilled food and melt-in-your mouth rice on the side. Laid back atmosphere with high quality food for an excellent price. Open super late (4am on weekends) 7 days a week and its BYOB! Must try the Red Pepper dip made with Pomegrante Molasses! They even have a nice coffee menu with all sorts of espresso drinks,
