MY REVIEW: This is our favorite neighborhood Oriental restaurant. We all love the sushi and the Chinese items. (My son once ate 40 cucumber rolls). I find the staff very friendly and the food very fresh. Yes, sometimes it takes a bit for your food to come out, but that is because they make it to order. No complaints from us -- we've been coming here for 3 years.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I have tried many sushi restaurants in the area. This place just cannot compete with our favorite. The sushi was okay, but it did not have the "zing" of really good sushi. A few of the rolls we ordered did not look like the pictures, they appeared (and tasted) to be lacking some of the ingredients. The ambience (or lack there of) sucks! And they really should rearrange the restaurant for a larger sushi bar and better placement of the tables. To sum it up, it is not bad sushi, just not great. Average prices. We would rather drive a little further and get great sushi in a great environment at M*asa Sushi.

MY REVIEW: I really enjoyed this restaurant. The atmosphere was calm, wait staff were friendly, and food was fantastic... all made hot and fresh. The sushi was fantastic and the chinese was spectacular... and NO MSG! :o) The menu is pretty extensive-huge variety. There is a picture menu available and a menu with lists of ingredients... great for folks with allergies. They were happy to make my order with an ingredient omission. I was very pleased with the experience. The prices were pretty fair for the cuisine. I'll be back.

MY REVIEW: I'm real picky of the location of where I get my sushi,I absoloutly love sushi and never thought unless it was in Houston in a nice area it was crapp.I was wrong to judge,Kappa has one of the best fresh sushi bars and chinese food.My boyfriend and I eat there frequently and we ca'nt get enough. I recommend it to everyone,it's got a quiet relaxing enviroment suited for couples and families with out the happy meal vibe.Excellent.

MY REVIEW: Took a chance and ordered a 'party tray' of Chicken Pad Thai for Easter sunday (had guests over) even though I had never eaten this dish here before. Asked them to make it mild -- menu showed it being spicy and some of our guests can't eat spicy. What we got was BLAND and practically FLAVORLESS. Apparently they cannot make it flavorful without making it spicy??? Pad Thai is not supposed to be spicy in the first place, so they should've been able to use the normal spices just without or with less pepper. What a waste of a lot of money. Learned my lesson to NEVER order for a party a dish that I've not tried before. My fave restaurant to order from was closed so this was our back-up.

MY REVIEW: We really enjoy Kappa, and have been there many times. The few reviews complaining about service are so different from our experience, and pretty vague, especially the one claiming that a new restaurant is in town. Hmmmmmm... Our servers have always been polite, confirming our orders and then returning back to refill drinks repeatedly. We once called and requested a menu be faxed to us, and it came tout suite. On weekend nights we stick to takeout due to the traffic, and had no problem with quality or missing items.

One thing we noticed: many visitors around here gravitate to the Chinese menu, but it's the sushi and Japanese food here that's really Kappa's strongest suit. It's a bit more expensive than we'd like, but you can still dine very well for not so much money, if you mix and match several rolls.

MY REVIEW: This was our regular sushi joint, until the newest one came available. We only went there bc/ it was the only place to get sushi in Pearland. We will not return due to.. terrible service!

The waiters/waitresses often act as if you are really bothering them to take an order...Once, we went an entire evening without ever receiving our child's order (after several reminders)!!

They better shape up to compete with the newest sushi restaurant, which is excellent!

MY REVIEW: First time I visited, they delivered my order & I had to wait 45 min for them to call the delivery person to bring it back. They should have just made a fresh order. They didn't apologize either. The second time I ordered, their sushi was good, however I've had sushi that good fresh from Kro*ger too. Nothing to rave about. The third time I ordered, their egg drop soup tasted burt. It was the worst egg drop soup my husband & I have ever tasted. Not going to use their services again. Sorry Kappa.

MY REVIEW: We ordered delivery from Kappa for the fist time and weren't very impressed. The Lo Mein was very thick and sticky (would NOT order again); the General Tso's Chicken appeared to be HUGE chunks of chicken - only once you bite in you find out 95% of it was fried breading. It was very dry (would NOT order again). The Spicy Crispy Shrimp was average, although I think it was just fried shrimp (again with TONS of breading) covered in actual honey (MIGHT order again). The tastiest part of the meal was the Crunchy Roll! (DEFINITELY would order again). We'll give it another shot to be fair (everyone has their bad days), although we will probably just stick to the Japanese/sushi dishes.

MY REVIEW: We order from Kappa's about once a week, don't dine in the restaurant very often because of seating, (or lack thereof). Good food, wide selection of both Chinese and Japanese dishes. My husband loves Pork Katsu Don... says their's is above average. I usually order sushi or a Chinese dish... I prefer sushi in the restaurant, because a few times they have forgotten ginger and wasabi... plus sushi just doesn't travel well. I've had better sushi, but I've also had worse. Their goyza and crab puffs are above average, the crab puffs were perfect, not greasy or dry either. Excellent pork and vegetable lo mein, (haven't tried the other lo meins... yet.) Their number is on our speed dial.

MY REVIEW: We have been sampling all the new restaaurants in the neighbourhood and tried Kappa for Japanese food. I thought the place looked crammed and dark inside. We were immediately seated on arrival. We had a very pleasant waitress who was helpful the best she could. I had seaweed salad and that was great. The sushi sampler platter was great too. My children ordered Hunan chicken and chicken dumpling. I didnt hear them complain. My wife ordered roll platter and she liked her choice. Food and service was good. The Japanese dishes were a little pricey. The place could do better with some rearrangement of furniture and inviting lighting. Nevertheless will visit again.

MY REVIEW: My fiance and I have visited several times and usually enjoy ourselves. Though they've struggled with understaffing and the occasionaly surly waitperson we hold out because there food is very good and their prices reasonable. Personal favorites include the seaweed salad and jalapeno rolls, their chirashi sushi bowl is also a great value. Overall good review but order pickup if you think they'll be busy and avoid the long wait for service.

MY REVIEW: We live far south of Houston, and there have been just no good sushi restaurants inside of an hour from our home.

We were so pleased to find this place! We ordered a sushi sampler type dinner platter with sushi, sashimi and rolls. It was great. The servers were very attentive, the food was delicious. Really glad they are there and we will definitely be back! I hope they stay!

MY REVIEW: My first visit to this restaurant was very enjoyable. I was pleased to find a long list of chicken dishes, all made with only white meat chicken. I had the General Tso's chicken and it was delicious. I disagree with the last review about the crab puffs. I found them to have a good amount of cheese and crab, and rather than dry, they just weren't greasy. Maybe they are improving some things as they are open longer.

Service was friendly and the inside was comfortable, but small. I would not recommend taking a family or large group there, as most tables are only two-seaters. There is little room anywhere for a highchair. There is always take-out, though!

All in all, I liked it and plan to visit often.

MY REVIEW: The first thing I always order is appetizers- Beef on Stick and Crab Puffs whenever possible. The beef is espeically a good way to get a flavor of the restaurant. I just got home and opened my food... and it is AWFUL!! the worst of both I have ever had. The beef looks and taste like it was from Yesterday!!! It appears and IS sooooo dry. There is no way these 4 beef on sticks were just now freshly grilled for me. No possible way. The crab puffs were obviously fried.. but also VERY dry and hard, with very little 'crab puff' inside. Very disappointed and think I will call them too now.

MY REVIEW: Not crazy about the food or the service... but they're still so new so I will probably give them a 3rd shot. Sushi rolls are WAY too big - and I don't mean too much food, just too difficult to eat. Sashimi would be better much colder, too. Just suggestions... hopefully it will take off because we have wanted a sushi place in Pearland for quite some time.

MY REVIEW: Decor is nothing fancy but the place is clean. Service is friendly and attentive. The lunch menu has a sushi assortment with 6 pc California roll for $8.95, perfect portion size for lunch. The seaweed salad is good. The sushi was fresh tasting. The sushi rice was a tad vinegary first visit, but perfect the second. All in all good food for a fair price. Finally I don't have to drive into Houston for a sushi fix.
