MY REVIEW: it's nothing to look at, but the food is terrific.
we've had lunch there a number of times, and they do a fine buffet. we had dinner there last sunday night, and were initially surprised we had to order off the menu...but we were NOT disappointed. the food was terrific, from the dal to the saag paneer to the alu gobi and the chapalu pulusu (fish curry), we were a very happy bunch. it was well-spiced, nicely blended and cooked perfectly. it's great for vegetarians, of course, and there are plenty of meat dishes for the carnivores among us. you can have it spicy or less so, and it's all wonderful.
my only caution would be that if you're going for the lunch buffet, you might want to show up on the early side. we came late-ish once (around 1p) and they were out of both naan and the chicken in the chicken tikka. it took awhile for them to restock...but other than that, it's a great spot and we'll be back!

MY REVIEW: I started going to India Wok about after about 2 years again, and I'm impressed. The place is somewhat disorganized and the last two times we've been, shorthanded at lunch. However, the food is superb. The chaat, chutneys are nice. The south indian dishes are wonderful, especially when they have been replenished... The tandoori chicken, (Indo)Chinese chicken are superb as is the palak paneer and other vegetables. If you can overlook the service and lack of ambience, you will be rewarded with delicious food.

MY REVIEW: Everyone here knows their stuff. This is their life. Even their friends visit and help out the restaurant for free. I have been coming here almost every day for 2 years straight.
Mouth-watering rasam which you want to drive 40 miles to get. Dosa that you are dying for as soon as you land at IAH after a 3-day business trip. Succulent kadai vegetables. Mutton biryani which builds strength. Lamb vindaloo made as spicy as you want. Poori, good with coconut and onion chutney. Eggplant buffet dishes almost every other day. Loyal patrons who share your tastes. Friendly hours -- open until 10 p.m. Mon-Sat and until 9 p.m. Sunday.
My only criticism, and it's sincere, is that the Chana Masala isn't as well-absorbed or spicy as it should be, probably in how it's prepared. Otherwise, I find no problems with the food.
The only place north of Houston which came close, closed down 2.5 years ago (ToI). Venkat, Kannan, and the rest of the staff are great. Unfortunately I am moving, and will miss them.

MY REVIEW: My husband was in the mood for Indian food and wanted to try this place out, and I have to say, I didn't expect much from a place called Indian Wok. We went for dinner one night, and the food was superb. I had the tandoori chicken tikka, and oy! I keep thinking about it, and wondering when I'll be able to go back for more. It was really good and fresh.
Our waiter was kind of bizarre. I don't know if he was much of a waiter -- it seems like most people pick up their food. He sort of mumbled and was confused for a good bit of the time, but he did a good job refilling drinks so I can't complain too much. The rest of the staff was pretty solicitous and friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed the food, and though I can't say I'm a fan of buffets, we might go back for lunch some time to taste a wider variety of foods.

MY REVIEW: I love Indian Wok! Every time I think about Indian food, my mouth waters! If you like HOT and Spicy food, try their Chili Chicken or Chicken Vindaloo.. Top it off with some garlic naan and you've got a grade A meal! Lunch time gets very crowded (I wouldnt doubt it cause it's so good) and very affordable. I also think this is the best Indo-Chinese place IN TOWN hands down! Who cares about price if the food is good.

MY REVIEW: This is probably the best Indian buffet in town. The selection is amazing. The food is awesome. My husband and I eat here at least twice a month, but usually once a week. The food is always nice and spicy. We had them cater an event for us, and now it's always a special request at family gatherings. Dinner is awesome as well. But, get there early because it does get packed toward the end of the night. I highly recommend the Chicken 65. Sometimes, I will get it with the garlic naan and saag paneer as my meal. Awesome. It does have humble surroundings, but you will quickly appreciate the food over the ambiance. I see complaints about pricing, but the only place I've eaten "cheap" Indian food was in India itself. Dinner portions are just the right size.

MY REVIEW: We moved to the Northwest burbs about 2 months ago - from inside the loop. We discovered Indian Wok shortly thereafter - and have been going back almost every week since. I could quite confidentally state that the food at Indian Wok is most probably the best Indian food I've had in the US - and I've lived on both the coasts and frequented the most popular indian restaurants in many parts of the country. While the Indian Chinese food is on the "OK" side, the rest of the food is absolutely amazing!

MY REVIEW: Great food; but their pricing is too much for that place. If they reduce the price, then they'll get/keep more customers

MY REVIEW: Great food, tastes good and lots of choice. Vegetarian food also and a choice of wholewheat bread also. Not a fancy place for a date but if you enjoy Indian food go place to eat.

MY REVIEW: Pretty good food! Small selection but big on flavor and style. It’s a hole in the wall but extremely authentic. About $10 per person. They do buffet or will serve a plate. As of 06/2007, I would recommend the place. If they were a bit cheaper, I would go back more.

MY REVIEW: I've been there for lunch twice and now dinner. The lunch is a great value and a very tasty menu....food is served at the right temperature (hot stuff is hot and cold stuff is cold!) and service is attentive. Dinner was great too. A terrific value at this little hole in the wall. You'll find lots of Indians and other ethinicities eating here. I love it.

MY REVIEW: I just found ths excellent place. My new friends from India introduced me to India's Cuisine and I love it. Problem is most restraunts are on the south side of town. This place is excellent. I love the Masala Dosa and Lasse. My husband NEVER tries new foods but he did this time and has decided he loves Indian Food. We live near this place and plan to visit often. The place is very friendly and after only my second visit the staff recognized us. Wow! thats service!

MY REVIEW: This place is delish! My husband and I used to have to drive all the way to Rice Village for good Indian food; now we can just pick up the phone and order take-out! It's not quite so good as S*hiva, but it's a heck of a lot closer! Plus, everyone there is friendly and the place has really home-y feeling inside. (On the down side, if you don't like bones in your lamb, order something with chicken here.)

MY REVIEW: I love this place! Ambiance is fair, somewhat "fast-foody", but OH MY! the dishes are great! Everything, from the sweet coolness of the rice pudding to the "wipe-your-eyes" fire ( if you want it that way) of the lamb Vindaloo, is superb! Staff is knowlegable and courteous. Buffet is fresh and lacks that "dried-up" appearance that so many have. Indian Wok is now a regular on my restaurant list.

MY REVIEW: I visited this place with a lot of expectations, after reading reviews published on this web site. But to my disappointment, the quality of the food was very poor. All the dishes we ordered, seemed to be made with the same gravy as base. I would not recommend this place to any of my friends. There are a number of good restaurants out there which offer a better ambience and better food.

MY REVIEW: The food here is very good. I am normally not a buffet fan, and in fact the first time we ate here, we went during the evening when there was no buffet. Every dish was wonderful. They actually believe you if you tell them you like it Indian spicy/hot, and the lamb vindaloo rocked my world. The second time we ate in, we had the weekend buffet, they remembered me, and took a portion of one of the already spicy chicken dishes and "hotted" it up for me. How's that for service? The buffet was excellent, and since then I have tried the lunch buffet which is very good as well. Indian Wok has become one of my top three resturants for this area, and I agree with another reviewer when he/she said that this is the best Indian restuarant in town. We love to eat there in the evenings, and have plans of going through another dozen items on the alacarte menu. Service is great too.

MY REVIEW: For a long time I would have to drive to the other side of town to get a decent Indian meal, we finally have something good on our side of town and INDO-WOK is it!! I have not had a bad meal, or ever had bad service. The Saag Paneer is delicious and the Manchurian dishes are crisp and spicey. The buffett is good but if you really want to experience this restaurant at it's best dine in for dinner and order of the menu. Every dish is an explosion of flavors and has plenty per serving. I HIGHLY recomend this restuarant to anyone who enjoys Indian or stir fry cooking, you won't be disapointed.

MY REVIEW: Definitely one the best Indian restaurant in town. Most of the Indian restaurants have pretty much the same menu (& taste), Indian Wok is like a breath of fresh air. The capacity is small (at times) but the quality of the food makes up for it. If you are looking for good food, this is the place to be.

MY REVIEW: Ambiance wise, it's not really the place you want to take a date. Quick, fast food that does the job if you are on a timed lunch break. Some of the best Indian meals I have eaten are snack like items known as "chat." What Indian Wok offers is sub-par, at best. If you want good Indian food, go up the steet to D*akshani (sp?), or travel to Hilcroft to find the authentic stuff.
