Giovannis Italian Kitchen
729 E Mulberry St, Angleton, Texas 77515
MY REVIEW: This was the best Italian food I've ever had. This place simply blows the Olive G*arden and Z*ios away. The St. Charles Crab Cakes were awesome and the Angry Snapper was delicious as well. Sampled other food from friends like the seared tuna and that was great. You need to make reservations, because the wait can be long.

MY REVIEW: I don't know...they have been 1 of our top favorites for a long time, but we were seated in the back last time, and the server was very sullen and inhospitable. She was apparently working the bar too, hectic, I guess, but that bad attitude really brings the whole occasion down. The next dine-out, we went to Cafe A*nnice and had a wonderful waiter who was extremely competent and pleasant as well...I couldn't help but make the comparison to the unpleasant server back at Giovanni's.

MY REVIEW: Great place, too bad their line is always busy.....can't make a reservation or get in touch with them. Maybe they should think about adding a second line.

MY REVIEW: Oh my this is the best Italian food I've eaten since I moved to S. Texas twenty years ago. The sauces, the appetizers, the variety! It's all so good. Capo Campechana (sp?) appetizer is so hard to pass up, but will fill you up so you can barely touch your entree'. The entree's are HUGE and delicious. St. Charles sauce on anything is my favorite.
Call ahead for reservations or risk not getting seated. It's that popular. If I could only eat out at one restaurant for the rest of my life, this is the one I'd choose.

MY REVIEW: Everything here is top-notch and worth the wait for a table should you not be lucky enough to snag that reservation ahead of time. They only book one reservation in the house each 30 minutes, so it's not easy to get one. Expect a 30 minute plus wait otherwise.
Angleton is now totally non-smoking so those bitching about that can quit their whining even though the louge was originally added to accomodate the smokers. On Saturday nights the waiting crowd spills over into the dining rooms, making eating with people standing around your table rather uncomfortable.
Each and every menu item is prepared expertly, and I've tried them all. I would knock one point off the veal because if you are expecting the milk-fed veal you'd get in Joisey, you'd be dissapointed. You can't procure veal like that in Texas. I'd have to say my favorite dish on the menu is the pan fried red snapper fillet, with the spicy cream and lump crab sauce. The fillet is expertly cooked, golden brown and crunchy on the outside, juicey and flakey on the inside. It takes a real chef to prepare fish this good. The creamy lump crab sauce is spiced perfectly, with all the spice heat on the back-end.
The only thing that keeps this restaurant from getting a Michelin star, is it's horribly bad and limited wine selection, not to mention that you can't bring in your own bottle for a small corking fee. The only Italian red in the place is a run-of-the-mill chianti. Yet the minor deductions in rating still place Giovannis way above any other restaurant in Southern Brazoria County.

MY REVIEW: Great home-made italian and great steaks. Small restaurant, can get loud when diners don't have manners.... otherwise nice small ambience. Service varies. Expect a wait on Friday/Saturday "prime-time", but usually no more than 30 minutes. Hard to call ahead and get reservations.

MY REVIEW: Are you kidding. There is a wait almost every weekend and frankly its just not worth it. I will go here and have a pizza if there is no wait. The pizza is excellent. As for anything else I have had there..it is just not very good.

MY REVIEW: The Italian food is always delicious. My son usually gets a seafood dish and I always get a taste. But I can't seem to stop ordering the filet in a red wine peppercorn reduction sauce. We also usually get the mussels in white sauce for an appetizer. YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!! The service is great everytime and the atmosphere is conducive to small talk between tables. We meet alot of new friends in the lounge. I recommend to anyone who loves a great steak or authentic Italian dishes.

MY REVIEW: Excellant food! We have tried several dishes and have never been disappointed. I espacially love the Tomatoe Flortine soup. If you don't wish to wait for a table on a Friday or Saturday night, I would suggest you come early or make a reservation. Nice ambiance and we have always recieved good service.

MY REVIEW: Giovanni's is an Island of great taste that's refreshing and surprising considering the little town that hosts it. Vinny and Susan have a really great thing going. The food is fabulous and the atmosphere old country Italian with a flavor of lounge music Dean Martin style. I always leave completely satisfied!

MY REVIEW: I tried this place, and the food was outstanding!! I don't remember the name of the dish, but it was something "florentine." However, the service was slow, and the waitress we had was just rude. We were in a smoking section and asked to be moved, and she said we could, but walked off! Hopefully this little restaurant will stay around but polish some of the rough spots.

MY REVIEW: This is a great small restaraunt. They have hand cut steaks, great seafood, and wonderful italian dishes. It's a little small with maybe ten tables inside and a few outside. But we had no problem getting a table. Service was prompt, friendly (typical small town), and not intrusive. Prices were in line with the quality of the food too.
