MY REVIEW: Walking into the restaurant, I was concerned because of the blackened gum and bird droppings within a few feet of the entry door. The restaurant was very crowded at lunchtime and we waited a while for a table; good sign of a good restaurant. My co-workers and I enjoyed pork spring rolls ($2 to $3), bowls of Pho ($2 to $6) and vermicelli noodle bowls ($7). I liked the lemongrass beef vermicelli bowl; quite tastey with tender meat. The jasmine tea was very flavorful as well. Lunch was quick, cheap and fairly tastey.

MY REVIEW: I've been to the 529 and travis locations and can definitely say that the traves location is much better.
I've visited the 529 location many times since it's closest to my house. They are very INCONSISTENT!! Some days the food will taste great and other days it won't. I almost always order the same thing everytime I go there, so I know it's not consistent... which is a shame because their food is actually pretty good.
My recommendations (on their good days): beef noodle soup (pho), spicy noodle soup (bun bo hue), french bread (banh mi o), and vietnamese crepe (banh xeo).
The only item I wouldn't recommend is their banh cuon and their bun rieu.

MY REVIEW: I've eaten here several times and the food is great! The banh mi sandwiches are the best I've had in Houston - loaded up and full of flavor on fresh bread that is perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Just be warned that you might want to buy a few extra (and at $2-$3 each, that's definitely a bargain). The pho is also fantastic. The service is timely and friendly, but if you're in a hurry, you can always call your order in ahead of time. They offer table service, and although its usually packed, I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a seat to open up. The only major downside is that they are closed on Saturday. There is another sandwich shop across the street, but it's not nearly as good.

MY REVIEW: i used to think pho s*aigon had the best pho in midtown until i heard from a couple friends that the pho here was better. boy was i pleasantly surprised. a good pho is all in the broth and theirs is so fragrant and flavorful! they are closed on saturdays and close early in general, so this is just a lunch spot for me.

MY REVIEW: Thien An is the best and least expensive Vietnamese "hole in the wall" in Houston. Everything is fresh and delicious. Pork sandwiches are usually lean and served warm.
The bun is great and reasonably priced, as other Vietnamese restaurants are charging up to $6 for bun.
