The Spot
3204 Seawall Blvd, Galveston, Texas 77550
MY REVIEW: We enjoyed our visit at the spot for an early dinner. The order at the counter service worked out great since we had a big group of 12. There was plenty of seating at around 5:30pm-6pm. The view was great!
The food was delicious! I had the garden burger and onion rings. Both were very tasty.
Would recommend to family and friends and can't wait to come back and visit.

MY REVIEW: Wife and I ate there Sunday Jan 11 '09 about 2pm. Great food which included fried shrimp and oysters, fries, onion rings and hamburger. Bun was fresh, meat was good, shrimp not over cooked and oysters very tasty.
Atmosphere casual as was dress. Walk up counter to order, then you go find a table, of which there are lots to choose from.
Customers were old, young and in between with helpful counter staff. Bikers there were regular people just like most of the rest of us in this world.
No waiting in line, but this was Jan. Staff said lines out the door during summer and I can understand why, the food is good and priced right.
We had a table view of the beach.
Will go back and will recommend it to others.

MY REVIEW: My family visited here on a Saturday and as was expected the place was very busy, crowded, and noisy. OK for a hang-out type burger joint.
The food was good and service was pretty prompt thought the line to order your food seemed to move painfully slow. All that said my complaints are essentially twofold. First, the bathrooms are unairconditioned??? This is not a good thing in the heat of the summer. Second, the pedestal tables are pretty much all suffering from a bad case of the wobbles. We tried several of them and they rocked back and forth so badly that we had to move to a table...a bit better. Even other patrons were complaining about this. It may seem like a small thing but it is very annoying when several folks are trying to eat around a table and trying not to lean on it for fear that everything will be inadvertently tossed in someone's lap.
There are a couple of pros: good food and helpful management.

MY REVIEW: The food and service are consistently good here, had crawfish this time and they were delicious.
It gets VERY VERY crowded when the weather is beautiful and even though they have added some seating it is still crowded all the time. This is a really fun place to hang out with friends what a wonderful view of the Ocean.

MY REVIEW: My sister in law and I took her sister, visiting from Illinios, to the Spot on a special trip from Angleton for lunch. I had my favorite shrimp dinner and loaded potato, both of which were prepared to perfection. They both had homeade cream of zuccinni soup in bread bowels and stuffed flounder which they're still going on about. I prefer to sit outside on the deck in view of the internet cam and the wifi is pretty reliable.

MY REVIEW: I have to agree with the post below mine. The spot has turned into a biker bar. You can't even go there anymore because it's full of bikers who'll just sit there all day and drink. Seriously, there's never a seat to be had there unless it's pouring down rain. I used to enjoy going for a burger, or just sitting at the bar for a beer, but not anymore. What a shame. Galveston has few places where you can sit outside, and they're being taken over by bikers.

MY REVIEW: have taken the kids and they enjoyed this place but the last time we went will be the last time. what started out as a overpriced tourist place with a good view has turned into a Biker bar with over priced hamburgers. My son was walking into the restauratn and a biker sitting out side the bar spit his tobacco chew at my son's feet. Before too much longer this will be just another run down biker bar.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I spent a few days in Galveston for our anniversary dring Labor Day week. We had driven by The Spot countless times on other visits, but had never eaten there. This time, we were looking for a place for dinner, and a numer of restaurants were closed that day, but The Spot was open, so we decided to try it. We will definitely be back! The food was excellent, and the portions large. We each had a "small" (1/3 pound) burger and a side order (I had onion rings, he had cheese fries). Neither of us could eat it all, and we both have pretty good appetites. My advice would be to order only one side order for each two people; you will still have plenty. The burger was one of the best I have ever eaten--juicy, flavorful, and on a homemade bun. The onion rings were perfect. We sat outside on the deck, where there was a nice breeze and a lovely view of the sunset. There is plenty of seating inside, too, if it is too hot outside, so take your pick. It is not exactly "cheap" for a hamburger place, but for the amount and quality of food, it is excellent. If you want cheap, go to one of the fast food chains; if you want a really good burger, go to The Spot. There is no comparison.

MY REVIEW: We go here as a regular happy hour hang out, great happy hour prices on certain nights (call ahead to be sure) pitcher of beer is 5.00 on happy hour night, and we tried the crawfish last time we went and it was really good. REALLY yummy fried pickles. IT IS almost just TOO hot in the spring/summer though for the outside bar area, could definitley use some more powerful fans or something. otherwise we LOVE this place.
Last time I ordered the chicken wings they were raw, YUCK. But general experience is good.

MY REVIEW: Once we found this place on our recent mini-vacation in Galveston, we stopped in at The Spot everyday. The happy hour was great, with $1.75 domestic bottles and half price appetizers. Great place to unwind after a hard day of playing and fishing. I thought it was charming and a great place for those of us with kids. The small game room and ice cream parlor kept our child entertained while the drinks and view on the deck were just the ticket for Mom and Dad! We tried the onion rings, calamari, and fried mushrooms and all were fantastic and plentiful. The female bartender wasn't as friendly or attentive as she could have been, but not overtly rude. The most ridiculous thing was paying $2.00 for a soda- more than the beer! In summary, I wish "The Spot" was closer to home and could become our REGULAR spot!!!!

MY REVIEW: I like that the Spot has added a bar to the restaurant. Nice place to hang out, good happy hour specials, but they need some fans for the warm evenings! The burgers and fries seemed better a few months ago...something has changed. However, the "dress your burger" bar is nice, and the ice cream is good. Still a good deal for a simple meal on the seawall.

MY REVIEW: The Spot used to be my favorite place on the island to grab a burger or chicken sandwich. It used to be my favorite place (besides Mc*Donalds, LOL) to order fries. It used to be my favorite place to order soup in a bread bowl.
Get the picture?
What has happened with their food? Well, on my last couple of visits, I've noticed they seem to use the same spices on every item on their menu. And whatever this combination is, is does not work. I couldn't even finish my chicken sandwich on my last visit, the flavor was so off. Downright nasty. The sandwich was also dry. The fries used to have a good flavor to them, but they changed these awhile back to "bigger but less flavorful" fries. And their soup in a breadbowl is long gone too. I can live without the soup and fries, but now that I can no longer enjoy a good chicken sandwich or burger there, I see no reason to return. Which is sad because they've got one of the BEST locations on the island for a relatively inexpensive meal, and they also have an excellent view. They just opened a bar next door to their restaurant, so maybe I'll pop in for a drink. But I'm not eating there again.
FYI: Their desserts are okay. Not great, but good. They also serve Blue Bell ice cream.
And if you go there, be sure to check out the black & white picture on the wall of the old roller coaster which used to be in Galveston. It's really cool!
