MY REVIEW: Visited the North Freeway location for the first time on a Thursday night, and went to the Gessner location the next! That's how impressed we were with the food, portions and most importantly, the prices.

As far as appetizers, the gumbo was very good--wonderfully flavorful with some type of edible leaf mixed in with the shrimp and other ingredients. Only slightly too salty. The stuffed jalapenos were also good, too.

Our entrees were the whole tilapia with Mexican sauce, fried catfish and fries, and a kids' meal of fried shrimp. Sides included fried rice, refried beans and salad.

The most amazing part were the humongous portions. I couldn't finish the kids' meal, even though I wasn't that hungry to begin with. There was also a complimentary order of chips and salsa, and a piece of garlic bread with the tilapia. Awesome! My favorite was the fried rice. It was actually better than that I've eaten at most Asian restaurants. The scallions really made a difference in the flavor. Also, the fried shrimp were really large, but extremely bland tasting.

The service was really good at the North Freeway location, but less so at the Gessner location. The problem is that the server really didn't have a good command of English. The food was brought out very promptly.

On a side note, there was a guy crooning some nice tunes at the North Freeway location. Since my Spanish isn't too fluent, I don't know what he was singing, but it sure sounded good. A little too loud, though.

Overall, we will probably be back at some point.

MY REVIEW: It's the right place to eat there,price,atmosphere,food ,everything is excelent.I since have moved from the north side of town to south,where I work with a good friend of mine who used to eat there as well.We would like to see a location near the LaMarqe area some time soon because it is hard to get to the any other location for lunch.

MY REVIEW: Strong points: Great Portions, Prices are Great, The Salsa that comes with the Chips in the beginning.

Weak Points: The staff is not to attentive. We almost had to get up ourselves to get our own refills at the bar. We had to wait forever for the check and our waitress even forgot our drinks at one point. When I say forgot, it was at least 15 minutes of forgetting.

Specialties: The Salsa is great, the camarones and filete empanizado are great, and the rice is awesome! Their quesadillas are really good, too. I highly recommend the micheladas...they are awesome.

Other than the staff's attentiveness, the ambiance is great and our food was more than satisfying - we will definitely go back soon.

MY REVIEW: I heard through a friend that this is the place to go for good seafood at a great price. I wanted fried shrimp with a grilled fish fillet, on the menu they had grilled shrimp with grilled fish so I just asked if I could get my shrimp fried and leave everything else the same but I could not get this. Then I asked if I could get the grilled fish with a side of fried shrimp this was also not do-able. So I ended up getting both fried fish and shrimp..My boyfriend wanted grilled tilapia with grilled shrimp but they would not substitute tilapia for the catfish even if they charged us!!mind you they do have a grilled tilapia fillet on the menu but they would have to charge us for both plates..I thought this was crazy. Anyway the prices we very very reasonable and the food was tasty even to my standards. My boyfriend ended up getting stuffed shrimp as his entree which he enjoyed with a beef fajita quesadilla on the side which was loaded with meat for only $2.00. The appetizer of stuffed jalepenos full of crab meat were great too. The waitress only attended to our table once and we had to ask another employee for the check after finishing our food and waiting 30 minutes. We had to tell the lady at the register what we had because she couldnt find our ticket...It's okay though because the food really was worth it for the price...even with the bad service!

MY REVIEW: Although my friend and I sat at the bar, we both ordered food. I had chicken enchiladas (I know, it's seafood restaraunt), the food was very good. Since it was early (7pm) on a Monday, the waiters and waitresses were not so busy and very friendly, fun to talk to. The prices seemed fair for what was offered. I'll be back, hopefully this week!

MY REVIEW: Didn't have a very good experience with the staff at the restaurant. I wasn't so turned off by the language barrier as I enjoy practicing Spanish. However, I was turned of at their lack of enthusiasm and bad attitude. I would not visit this chain again.

MY REVIEW: OMG! My friends say I should buy stock since I spend so much time there. This is an excellent restaurant I recommend highly. The music is great and the mariachi is excellent I know all of them by name and they know me. Of course the food is excellent too.

MY REVIEW: excellent. ate at the one in conroe. i am assuming it is the same chain. 5 stars very good. this is not your typical tex mex. loud mariachis but that is OKAY.
