MY REVIEW: The food is as authentic and fresh as it gets and the family is very warm. I'm addicted..as are my friends that I've brought there. Been going there for 2 years and the food is very consistent. This is a small family-run "hole in the wall" with great food, relaxed atmosphere, and reasonable prices.

MY REVIEW: I love going there!!! Food and the atmosphere is awsome. The owners are really nice and warm. I feel I am at home going there. My son who's 2 years and half love Lebanese food especially "Kebbe", all kind of kebbe. The staff is great and nice. This restaurant is so clean and the food is as good in Lebanon. You can also order a special lebanese food, and you can pick it up the next day!!! That's what I usually do because my son goes to daycare/school and that's what he eats for lunch. Oh!!! and another thing they are sooooo nice to kids and I do not have to worry about my son misbehaving. There it's heaven for kids... and for me too and the husban too.

MY REVIEW: My friends and I went to Mary's on Saturday around lunchtime- we ordered the hummus (which was delicious) and a couple of different kinds of wraps. The chicken in mine was a tad on the dry side, but still tasted okay. The service was kind of slow, and we eventually had to ask for our check, but I would still give the place another chance and try something different from the menu next time.

MY REVIEW: I love this place. The food is excellent. I went in with my mom the other day. She had never been. She oredered the falafel sandwich & I ordered a kafta kabab sandwich with fries. Delicious!! My mom loved it & she is really picky with her Lebanese food. She just doesn't eat anywhere. They are very clean too. I will definitely go back as often as possible.

MY REVIEW: I visited this place for the first time just the other day, and it certainly wont be my last! A friend and I visited late in the evening (around 9:30) the inside was empty, because everyone was out on the patio watching the Rockets game. The street traffic can sometimes be noisy, especially when a metro bus passes, but the food and atmosphere make you forget all about the Richmond traffic.

We ordered several appetizers- kibbi, dolmeh/grape leaves, falafels, hummus w/ ground beef- and everything was delicious! The only (minor) complaint I have is that the grape leaves could've been a bit more tart, but the plate was served with a lime wedge so that problem was easily solved. The service was prompt and our waitress was very attentive- What more could you ask for?

MY REVIEW: I love Lebanese food and have tried several other Lebanese restaurants in Houston that were all good, but Mary'z is my favorite. It is a wonderful place to go with friends or family. Mary'z has always been crowded every time I go and for good reason! Their kabobs are fantastic...chicken or tenderloin! The meat is tender and flavorful. Entrees come with two side dishes and I usually get the green beans and the potatoes. The potatoes are my absolute favorite! They are tangy and delicious...not just plain and salted like a lot of restaurants. The green beans are also wonderful and have a great flavor...I don;t even normally like green beans, but Mary'z are great. Their bhaba ghannouj is some of the best I've ever had; it is awesome. Their hummus is also pretty good. I have taken friends who had never tried Lebanese before and weren't really into trying new foods and even they loved the food. The porch area is also great for spending time with friends and smoking hookah. The hookah is good with a nice variety of flavors. The prices are good for the quantity of food and the quality of food. Being a poor college student, it isn't something I can afford all the time, but it is cheap enough to have fairly often. The only bad point is that sometimes the waitstaff can be unattentive, especially when it comes time to bring the check. No fountain drinks either, just cans The parking lot can also be a pain since it is small with only one way in and one way out. Sometimes on weekends they make you park valet if it is really crowded. Besides that, Mary'z is a wonderful, family owned restaurant with excellent food!

MY REVIEW: Every time I've been to Mary'z it is packed...and it's no wonder! The food has always been great from the appetizers to the kabobs. The falafel and cabbage leaves are standouts. Service is generally friendly and efficient, though there have been a couple instances where our waitor disappeared for a while. However if you prefer takeout, the orders are always ready on time. Mary'z is one of our favorite spots in Houston!

MY REVIEW: Went with two other couples and sat out on the porch. Some folks might be bothered out here by the big hookahs smoking away, but this didn't really detract from the evening for us. We mostly shared an amazing array of appetizers and just a couple of entrees which were both excellent. We had both a red and a white Lebanese wine which were both quite good. This was the first time for Lebanese food for one of the couples at our table and they were both pleased very much with the variety and quality of the cuisine. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly. We had so much fun we didn't even realize that we had spent 3 hours dining there - obviously this isn't a quick table turn over place that shoves you out the door as soon as they can to maximize profitability. The only mild disappointment was the baklava, but maybe I'm just used to a somewhat different type of baklava - this didn't have enough honey or nuts to satisfy me. Nevertheless, an overall enjoyable experience that we will undoubtedly repeat again.

MY REVIEW: We went out to eat at Mary'z last week with couple of friends, they never had Lebanese food at all, they loved it, and she called me the other day and ask me when are we going to eat at Mary'z again, she couldn't believe how much she was missing, we got Mezza Combination, witch is most of the appetizer in it, we cleaned the plates, then we had the Mixed Grill Platter witch was extremly tasty, and the lebane beer "Almaza" goes perfect with this kind of food, so if you never tried Mary'z, give it a try, and you will see how much you r missing!!!

Great Job :-)

MY REVIEW: Casual and wonderful. Grilled eggplant, fried cauliflower & veggie grape leaves are must-have appetizers. Kabobs were very good. We brought a couple of bottles of wine and they charged us $8 corkage per bottle which was great. Wound up buying another bottle from them anyway! Went on a Friday night and by 9:30 the place was packed. Great atmosphere with lots of 20-somethings smoking hookahs with flavored tobacco outside on the patio. I will be back.

MY REVIEW: I eat here every day, only missed a couple days the last year.

Food has it's ups and downs like any home made foods. Just like momma, just like sister, some days not as great as another, however all in all most every day the food is fantastic. The plate specials is the way to go, my favorites are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, I do like the others, but these are my favorits days, absolutely super fantastic, with a few exceptions these days may fall to a great. The Lebanese Red Wine the expensive one i.e. 7.50 a glass, that's the best buy, it's very nice, ask for a taste, I have one or two or three every so often, but I am not into wines but can say this, I have had many bottles more expensive and many more glasses about 10-15 bucks from Trulucks to what not, and they are on par or a little above par with those wines.

Ther roasted eggplant is super fantastic 7 out of ten times, and just fantastic maybe 1 out of ten times and just great 2 out of ten times.

Grape leaves are usually very very good to great, with real authentic Greek being better but this is a close enough.

Cauliflower is very good too, I am not into that food by a friend of mine is and he says its extremely good to fantastic.

Potatoes some days are weaker than others, but okay at worst and very tasty at best, I have not had them too may times, but they are doable.

Green Beans are usually very good or just out of sight, just make sure to tell them how hot that you want it, they use to always bring it too cool for my taste but after I told them how I like it, it comes piping hot.

Baba Ghannouj ooooooooooohhhhh oooooooaaaa ooooooOOOOOOOO La laaaa, this is usually in my book right up there at the top. If you ever had Baba Ghannouj from anyone's, without a doubt, on most any night, Mary'z will be the best. Even when it's off it's great, and probably better than anything in town. Better tha anyone, Ca*fe Li*Li has nothing on these people in personality and in food, Mary's is superb. Did I tell you how much I like their Baba Ghannouj... I do and I hope to one day get Mary to reveal the process to my wife :-) fun day indeed, in fact my wife asked me several time, just moments ago in fact --- if she thinks I can get Mary to teach her how it's done. In fact, my wife is thinking on coming to work for Mary (for free) just to find out - Did I tell you, my wife loves their Baba Ghannouj too? Yeah, it's good! Maybe if I keep coming daily for another year or two I'll find out.

Want more garlic, just ask, want crispy bread instead of the soft pita, ask. Want them to cook it a little longer or bring it hot or cool, just ask. Want your raw kibbie cooked, they do that too. Want to have a little extra rice or not as much rice, just ask.

Their homemade food is unique, and I know Lebanese people that love their food too. Some Lebanese say that not all what they do is pure and authentic because their traditions at home were different, but you ask others and they say its exactly like Momma's. I'm not Lebanese so I don't know, but I do know this, that I have been told by more than one source that their food taste just like you were in Lebanon. Next time you're going to eat at an average to good place like Cafe Express or McCormick's try Mary'z instead. Next time you don't know where to go, even if it's kinda late at night, Try Mary'Z, most nights they open late... depends on how buzy it is, the kitchen usually closes at 1100 or so sometimes later if there is a big croud. I have seen them close around midnight and I have seen them open at 2am, it depends on business. If you want a party here, they do that too, if you have a large enough order for cater that they will do as well. A friend of mine works real fancy party's in multi-million dollar homes, he's asked several of his customers that ate here and they raved about it too.

Yes, yes yes, the service is not always best, but you know what, I have a friend that is so testy about that sort of thing that he still eats here because of the food. If you want to know the secret of getting out of here faster, let them know before you order that you are leaving in an hour or so, tell them your not going to stay long. Tell the wait staff that you have to leave right away... no big deal, or just walk up to the register. I still have this problem at times and I eat here every day, in fact I usually just place a 20 on the table and they usually get the hint... what they want, and it may be a culture thing, but they want you to stay and enjoy yourself and talk and order a smoothie or a drink, maybe smoke outside and relax.

It's not upscale, it's not a dump, its an establishment that has a lot of use and yet nice none the less. The service excells in giving you what your looking for in the way you like it fixed. If you want your chicken breast a little extra grilled, great, they usually get it just right... Mary is usually the cook and she oversees all the kitchen operations, her children help, along with her best friend since childhood - Ida, there are others but most are family, and they often treat me like family, and within the second or third visit they were calling me by name. Sometimes they are too nice to their customers, I have a habit of coming in for hours at a time, I mean hours and hours, I like it this well. Today I ate twice here, I have been here since lunch, I had lunch and supper, I am right now sitting at a table, and because they have WiFi for their customers I get to surf the net too.

They have a sampler plate which gives you a nice round sample of what their food is like without buying all the plates. Their sandwiches could be better, and sometimes they are.

Tabuli is a daily staple of mine, some days better than others, most days is exceptional, and I have tried lots of Tabuli, there has only been one other type that I have liked more, and only a couple other times I tased anyone elses thats better or on equal par with Mary's.

Like Greek Salad, super nice to exceptional. Want a little less or more cheese or olive or vinegar, just ask. It's all fresh and ready to be devoured.

The one item, actually two items I wish they would really improve is their bread, I wish they would have a whole wheat option, I'd rather have that, perhaps if all you guys would ask for it they would bring in into the mix. Jimmy's wife asked, I agree, but perhaps there is not enough demand. I have not pushed it but only mentioned it a few times. Jimmy said he'd bring some in daily special for me, and I insisted he not, he said but your a good customer I want to please you... I just said I know, maybe later. He said ok, just tell me. That's the kind of service you don't find anyplace else. No place that I know of, if there is... In fact Samir several times, but one night I have in mind went out to the regualr store to buy something that a customer really really was dreaming on having and they ran out of stock in the kitchen, he left and brings back supplies, just for her. I have had them at times go above and beyond the call of duty for me as well. Tonight they did it again, as is why I decided to write this about their place.

Their tenderloin and chicken Kabobs are great and Gheee much of their menu is worthy of a drive across town one evening just to try. I don't care if your in Galveston, and you wan't to do something different, head on over to Mary'z, try that Red wine.. I don't even know hat it is, I just ask for the expensive 7.50 one, I think it's called Kfraya, they have several Ksara is one I think but the first Kfraya I believe is the one in mind.

Enjoy!

MY REVIEW: Just got back from Mary'z. Everything was absolutely delicious!

I had the Maryz Sampler plate and it was fantastic....hummus on the side was great. My boyfriend ordered grape leaves and a chicken kabaob 'sandwich' which was also excellent.

The only thing that I would change was the confusion upon walking in. You don't wait to be seated- you are supposed to seat yourself, but, if this is your first time here there is no way of knowing that (so sign posted or anything).

We actually stood in the entrance for about 5 minutes before a customer eating at a nearby table asked if we were waiting to be seated and told us we just pick a table and the waitstaff will come find us.

Next time, we will know better, however. Food was great.

MY REVIEW: Oh, this place is great!! Me and my friends usually end up here atleast once a month. They prepare the best sheeshas/hookas in town and the service never fails. They have also introduced a bunch of new flavors that really knock you out (ie- margarita.) I have ate there on a few occasions and their shawarmas(sandwhiches) are good but i would stay away from the lamb sandwhich and just stick with the chicken. The kabobs are quite indulging as well. The atmosphere is pretty nice but sometimes Mary's is loaded with teenagers, which gets quite annoying. If you ever go there, make sure you do not park at the adult store next door becuase your car will get towed. Enjoy!

MY REVIEW: My daughter, her boyfriend, and I ate at Mary'z this evening. All of us agreed the food was delicious and the service was very personal. We had hummus, baba ghannouge, fried cauliflower, greek and ceasar salad, chicken shawarma platter, beef shawarma platter, and a lamb kabob sandwich. The wait staff were attentive and prompt and were clearly proud of the food they were serving. They seemed genuinely interested in our comfort and well-being. About $60 for the three of us including 20% tip and two beers apiece.

MY REVIEW: This was my first time to Mary'z, usaully I go to S*hawarma King. I think Marry'z has excellent quality products, but the prices are a little expensive. The environment in this restaurant is very friendly and a lot of lovely ladies. I had the fried calliflour fried extra crispy, tabulliah, and kibi balls, Nano also let me try a free sample of the beef and chicken shawarma and I think thats one of the main reasons Im on my way back there to eat right now, and guess what Im bringing a date. Nano you have won a new good customer with your great customer service. Thanks for the "GREAT EATING EXPERIENCE". See you soon Im on my way.
