Mexico's Deli Tortas & Tacos

MY REVIEW: Tired of the same menu at the fast food chain? Well this place has a mind blowing menu that it will most certainly shock you, but once you've made you choice you will not be disappointed and not to mention there prices. Get more bang for your buck, I highly recommend it.

MY REVIEW: In a shabby little strip center in West Houston, lies a culinary pearl: Mexico’s Deli.
This mom-and-pop eatery specializes in Mexican tortas (Hoagies, grinders, submarine sandwiches for you gringos). The first time I went there, I opened the door and I was confronted by the menu, written in chalk on a 10’ x 9’ section of the wall. I felt like one of the apes around the monolith. Sooo many choices. I decided on the fajita torta. When my order arrived, I simply couldn’t believe it. It was
G I G A N T I C!!!! I have never seen such a large sandwich in my life. I should have had an inkling about this since EVERYONE was leaving the restaurant with to-go boxes. The food quality and taste gave me a culinary orgasm. I never go to S*ubway or other chains now. I will drive far out of my way for their food. Mexico’s Deli doesn’t advertise; they don’t have to.

MY REVIEW: Excellent. I especially love the tortas and breakfast items. Haven't tried the desserts yet. My only recommendation is that they use only the plain tortilla strips rather than any green or red ones. Better eye appeal. Very nice staff and friendly atmosphere; congratulations to the owner who started up this restaurant in an uncertain economy.. Have sent friends there as well.

MY REVIEW: We went back for another visit and tried the soups this time. My husband had the blue cheese cilantro, and I had the enchilada soup. His was a nice cilantro soup topped with blue corn tortilla strips, and mine had a really nice spicy kick to it - both excellent. The tortas are big enough for two people to share one and possibly still have leftovers. We had the Argentinian Lomito - honestly one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Not sure how they can do all this for the price, but the place is good and a great value.

MY REVIEW: The food here is very good and affordable, and they use really fresh ingredients as well. My husband ordered the "sliders" expecting three little sandwiches, and they brought out three huge sandwiches stacked on top of each other. And it came with a little bowl of soup and some pickled veggies too. The best one was the Argentinian Lomito that came with steak, eggs, ham, and cheese. My husband pretty much loved it. I got a taco plate, and it was served with fresh limes on the side which was a nice touch. I would have liked some sour cream or avocado, something cool and creamy to go along with it, but the tacos were very good. Loved that they were served with fresh cilantro. They have good aguas frescas here as well. We live in the neighborhood so will definitely be back. Can't believe how much food you get here for so little money. A great deal.

MY REVIEW: Poblano soup and #8 Chicken Torta. Torta's are too big for one, and melt in your mouth. Soup was incredible! Thumbs up, and we'll go back.

MY REVIEW: I always get the Tortas either it would be a #8 or #12, it's realllly goood. And their homemade juices is WAYY better than the sodas. It's not too sweet and its very refreshing. But if you ever go to Mexico's Deli you MUST and MUST get the CREAM OF PABLANO. It is sooo delicious, I believe its plano peppers grinded with tortillas and heavy cream. Whatever it is, it is very good. It's creamy and cheesy. Just perfection!

MY REVIEW: GREAT FOOD!!!! I was searching for a place to get some breakfast taco's when I came across Mexico's Deli. so I decided to take a chance and stop in. I am soooo glad I did. They had breakfast taco's as well as many other breakfast dishes. I ordered the huevos acapulco which were amazing. I will be coming back here again for sure. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu...

MY REVIEW: I got the Tacos al Pastor and was absolutely in HEAVEN. Served with onions and cilantro on corn tortillas and they bring two salsas to your table. The meat was incredible. Three tacos for 3.95! You can't beat that. And these were some of the best tacos I've ever had in my LIFE. My fiance got the Bisteak tacos and loved them also.
We cannot wait to go back. Authentic food, super cheap prices, and really nice counter service help. You can't beat that.

MY REVIEW: Do not let the location or how the building looks fool you. It isn't very nice on the outside, but the inside and the food make up for it. The food was awesome and plentiful. The price was right. The portions were huge. The staff was nice. It was strange to be that the aguas frescas and the soft drinks were the same price. Usually aguas frescas are more expensive and don't allow refills. The place does. I will definitely go back again.

MY REVIEW: I got a torta to go from here (a #8, chicken adobo i believe). It was huge. Much bigger than the usual taqueria-style torta from around here. It is probably 2 or 3 of those in size. Very filling and tasty.
Service was pretty quick and the guys cooking and making the order were friendly.

MY REVIEW: We really like Mexico Deli. Their blue cheese cilantro soup is great as is the tacos al pastor. I always have their aqua fresco's. Usually have some unusual selections other than the standard watermelon selection.

MY REVIEW: WOW WOW best torta's in houston for sure. I bring everybody to this place whenever they say they're hungry. it's a huge sandwich that will surely get you full and for a very reasonable price. I always get the #9 which is milanesa (breaded thinly cut beef) or else the lomito chipotle- they're great!!! the only weak point is the furniture is not great but the food helps you get over it very quickly.
