MY REVIEW: Great juicy burgers, good fries, and onion rings. Good service and prices. No need to grill my own anymore.

MY REVIEW: If you've seen any of my reviews, you know I love burgers. I've seen reviews of Sam's here and on other web sites, and since it's not too far from the Food Guy ranch, I had to take Ms. Food Guy out for dinner on Friday. I am very glad I did.
The burgers are excellent - just a little bit of juicyness and great fixins. I had the Super Burger, and she had a regular burger. Each patty, to our great surprise, was 1/3 lb. That means my burger was HUGE - although not as huge as their "All Day Burger", which has 3 patties, sausage, bacon, egg, cheese, and God knows what else. We shared some perfect fries, perfectly firm without being greasy. They have Blue Bell shakes, which I didn't get, but they look tasty, all right. Cost for the meal was $13 - a great deal.
The place is very clean, and we missed most of the crowds by going at 8PM. I liked the high school mascots on the walls - even though I'm not from here, I thought that was a really cool touch.
The folks are friendly, the prices are reasonable, and the food's great. You'll love it!

MY REVIEW: Don't miss it! This "joint" is simply THE best. Always order their seasoned fries to go with your burger/sandwich. Breakfast too is yummy!

MY REVIEW: Before Sam's moved to the other side of I-10, there was a different crowd. You couldn't get in the parking lot b/c of all the trucks and trailors and not a button-down shirt in sight...So Sam's (we call it Henry's b/c that's the owner's name; Sam is the owner's brother) has moved to a spiffier location but the awesome food and forehead-slappingly low prices remain the same. The food here is a little different than other places b/c you get your choice of bun or white, wheat or rye bread, toasted or not. The hash browns at breakfast are made of chopped up french fries. You can get o-rings, fries, seasoned fries or a bag of chips and the order of fries is so big we split an order and still have leftovers. The all-day burger has every kind of meat/protein they have in the place including a fried egg. The BLT has a 1/4 pound of bacon on it. And every sandwich is cooked to order and piping hot, wrapped in a paper, sometimes with an unexplained plastic fork stuck in it.
It is impossible not to be happy here.

MY REVIEW: I've been coming to this place since high school back in the 70s. They moved to the other side of the Katy Freeway because their strip center was being razed for the freeway expansion. This place hasn't changed. Burger prices start in the $2.50 range and are 1/3 pound. None of this flame broiled nonsense, Sam's cooks on a grill, just like a real diner. It is still the same Mom and Pop kind of place, but a little more spiffy due to the new location at Kirkwood and Katy Freeway. Juicy burgers with fresh toppings, good fries (just a touch of grease, but I like that), and shakes and Cokes. They also have a breakfast menu, but I haven't sampled it yet.
The wall is decorated with the logos of Spring Branch ISD high schools, which takes me back.
One warning: The line can be out the door at dinner rush. Expect it, live with it, understand it. People wouldn't be willing to wait if they didn't like it! It IS worth it :)

MY REVIEW: The venerable Sam's location was a victim of the Katy Freeway expansion, so they have reopened on the south side of I-10 at Kirkwood. The place is a bit cleaner, but it's still a throwback to Al's Malt Shop on Happy Days. It is way more of a diner than a deli. Burgers and other short order food, none of it is healthy of course, nor should it be.
Some of the best burgers in town, hot off the grill, and still sizzling in it's own grease when you get it to the table. The ladies will be grossed out, so they should just skip it and go to the S*tarbucks across the parking lot while the guys pig out.
This place has been adopted by the Stratford High School kids, which gives it a new dimension to the already neighborhood feel.
