MY REVIEW: This was our first visit to Neal's and everything was just "okay". Nothing that blew us away but nothing horrible either. I had the CFS, husband had the Hamburger Steak, and son had the kid's catfish. CFS, while good, was quite a small portion for the price. Husband said the hamburger steak was overcooked and dry (also small portion - about 4" circle). The kid's catfish was good. All of our sides, with the exception of the fried okra (which obviously were just fried), were cold. We reported this to the manager who said their steam table was broken. I'm sorry, but don't you have a microwave in your kitchen?! Pop in our green beans, macaroni & cheese, and black-eyed peas for 20 sec. to solve that problem. No excuses. She was very nice about it and gave us a dessert on the house but still . . . Also, our waitress, while nice, was soooo slow. We had to ask 3 times for our waters to be refilled and for rolls (which we never got), had to also ask twice for our check and to-go boxes. Again, inexcusable. We will probably give them another chance since the Spring location (the one we visited) just opened and nothing was just "horrible". Hope it's better next time or that will likely be our last visit.

MY REVIEW: Finally made it to Neal's and was pleased with all aspects of my visit. Nothing exceptional about the appearance of the place, but the staff was friendly, knowledgeable and unobtrusive. The food was very good and the fact that my lady was allowed to order off the childrens menu was a big plus. I'll definitely be back.

MY REVIEW: Well, I have visited Nealīs for the past 2 years or so. The place has always been nice and friendly, and the food is actually very very good. Recently I went back and I noticed a big change, they have re-designed the whole place and they also improved the menu. Let me tell you, the place looks pretty nice!
I definitely suggest you to try the place, or if you already know it, check it again, the new image is quite enjoyable!

MY REVIEW: I am in love with the queso/guacamole/hot sauce appetizer plate. It is SO GOOD.
It's almost bottomless. Every time I think we should be almost done, I look down and it's almost still full. Beautiful! I always have to box it up and take it home.
Neal's has good stuff! A ++++

MY REVIEW: Save your money and go elsewhere.
We had high hopes for this place which advertises the best chicken friend steak around. Nope, not even close. Not even the best in Spring, much less Houston or the rest of the Houston area. The wife had the CFS and I had the combo BBQ plate, which was brisket and sausage.
My brisket looked and tasted like it came precooked to the restaurant and they just heated it up. The sausage was no great shakes either. The fries were cold and were obviously prepackaged as well. The only high point of my meal was the pinto beans which at least tasted like they were made from scratch.
My wife had the onion rings with her CFS, and they were prepackaged as well. For the price the portions were very small as well. And they did not even offer us any bread with our meal. When the waitress finally came around to ask if we wanted dessert I asked her if they normally served bread and she said they don't offer it unless someone asks for it and thay they were running low anyway. WTF? This was fairly early on a Friday night. No wonder there was no waiting.
Id I'd have wanted reheated, prepackaged food I'd have gone to C*hilis or A*pplebees or some similar chain - at least the food there is plentiful and warm. Do yourself a favor and pass this place by.

MY REVIEW: Our first visit will not be our last! We moved here from Georgia over 6 years ago and have been looking for an incredible country food experience...and we found it tonight. My husband had catfish and shrimp, while I tried the chicken fried chicken. The food was obviously fresh and "homemade", and the service was amazing. Our server happened to be the daughter of the owner, and was so enthusiastic about her family cooking - and gardening - and that is obvious in the taste of the vegetables. The chicken was hand battered in a buttermilk type batter, and the fish was battered in a traditional cornmeal way. Both were better than any tasted - even at so called "up scale" restaurants.
We'll be back - and next time, we'll save room for the homemade deserts!
Thanks for the wonderful experience!

MY REVIEW: We finally dined at Neals after driving by it numerous times - what a surprise! It was a busy friday night with many families and couples waiting to dine. We waited only 10 minutes before being seated in this country style home cooking restaurant. The menu has a very wide variety of items from seafood such as catfish to buffalo burgers and everything in between (salads, soups, onion rings etc.)!
My husband picked a buffalo burger, and and I choose the Ranch Chicken Sandwich with fries. The buffalo burger was tasty and my chicken sandwich was huge - loaded with fixins and giant pieces of thick bacon. Our son in law chose the catfish and fries, which he loved. My daughter went with a southern favorite, chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes. The food was delicious, fresh and served by a very friendly staff.
We couldn't help but notice that everyone working at Neals was smiling. A few minutes after our food arrived, we got a visit from Mr. Neal himself, who informed us that our waitress was sent to serve a wedding rehearsal dinner, so for the remainder of our meal he would be serving us. We have lived in Spring for only 7 years, and we have seen it change quite a bit, so we decided to ask Mr. Neal about his life in Spring. He told us that the restaurant has been in business since the early 80's and the location used to be his uncles Pea patch! He was extremely friendly and genuinely cared about our service. He even cleared our plates and refilled our drinks! This meal was really special to us, and we will definitely become regulars at Neals in the future. Its nice to see that good customer service is still alive - especially at Neals!

MY REVIEW: I'm new to Spring and I'm in love with Neal's. They have a little bit of everything. One of my favorites is the Southwest chicken, it is a chicken breast with cheese, musherooms, grilled onions, and jalapenos. The desserts are awesome. Most of the time I don't have room for it after I eat, but that doesn't stop me from getting it to go. Give them a try, you'll love it!!!

MY REVIEW: I was excited to try Neal's after reading so many positive reviews. Sorry we were disappointed in our meals. We tried the chicken fried chicken and hamburger steak dinners. Both were small portions and very bland. The salad had prepackaged dressing, the meats overcooked and the vegetables were not seasoned.

MY REVIEW: Neal's is a great restaurant for the comfort food crowd. Good pickings would be Chicken Fried Steak, Catfish (grilled or fried), Pork Chops (grilled or fried), and of course the BBQ. One of my favorites is the BBQ chicken, another suggestion is the Bayou Shrimp. All the things on the menu that we have order have seemed fresh and flavorful. The desserts especially the pies are homemade and excellent. Try the blackberry pie.... Overall nice place to eat and one of the best along the 2920 corridor, quick and friendly service.

MY REVIEW: I have been to Neal's a few times within 1 year since I have lived in Spring in the Klein Area. Everything that I have had at Neal's so far was good. I do like the Cajun Grilled Catfish as well, the Chicken Fried Steak was really good, and also the I do like their Buffalo Burgers. Every friend or family that I have told them about Neal's and has been their, they like it also. One night I had a friend of mine from my work has called me and told me thank you for my recommendation and he liked it also. I really do like to go to Neal's as much as I can and get other people to go there if they can. You really need to try it. They have different varieties of food there.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I went to Neal's, my first time, it was excellent! Neal was there and made sure our meal was perfect through the whole dinner, his daughter waited on us & have to say we go out to dinner a lot and I get sick of asking questions and getting dumb looks b/c the waiter has no idea what the restaurant even serves. She actually had suggestions and was right on target! We enjoyed ourselves the whole dinner and talked about it all the way home. We each had a Ribeye steak, which was cooked to perfection MR, and will definitely go again. also we had the margaritas, with the raspberry shot, my favorite margaritas in town. Thanks Neal's, Finally a restaurant with great food and great service.

MY REVIEW: Neal's is my favorite restaurant in town. They have great chicken fried steak, veggies, catfish, BBQ, and the pies are out of this world. You can tell that the dessrts are home made. As a matter of fact, I think all the food is home made. My favorite meal there is the bayou shrimp. They have recently added a full bar to their menu. My kids love going there because they get to go pick out a cookie if they ate their kids meal. The service is excellent and the owner usually walks around to the tables to talk to us. The prices are great and you get a lot for your dollar there. I have never walked out of their disappointed. I highly reccomend this place for a fun relaxed eating experience.
