MY REVIEW: The last review is very surprizing due to the last few times I visited the Cafe they were extremely busy cleaning. I do know they have had a turnover in staff however the owner has worked diligently in trying to restaff and then of course train. I love the food and the staff and what about those cupcakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not only are they beautiful to look at "THEY TASTE GREAT"... The owner is so kind and willing to make this business something for the entire community to be proud of. He took this business over trying to fulfill a lifelong dream of his sister who suddenly died soon after purchasing the Cafe. Please support him in making this independent cafe the best in Sugarland.

RESPONSE: Thanks to the last entry gfrom Writergirl. I am the owner and unfortunately I agree with her to some extent. With our volume increasing and turnover what it is in this area, I have been having more and more trouble keeping this place as spotless as I want it. Always I want the freshest food in the cute sparkling atmosphere my customers (and new customers) expect. We strive to please everyone that walks in. I would like to say however that depending when you walk in there is a good chance it looks like a bomb just went off because of the childrens' birthday parties and we try to react immediately. All comments are always welcome, because I do want to live up the standards I have set for Cupcake Cafe and its' customers.

MY REVIEW: I've been wanting to go to the Cupcake Cafe for a while, so when my girlfriend was in from out of town, and we took a break from shopping at the mall and went. The decor is very cute, but I have to say the first thing that struck me was that the place hadn't had a good cleaning in a while. And I'm no over-picky germ phobe. I leaned over and mentioned that I thought the place looked dirty to my friend, and she told me she'd been about to say the same thing to me. We ordered (from tired, unenthusiastic staff), and I had a mandarin chicken salad. It was great -- the greens were fresh (not out of a bag!) and the chicken was perfectly cooked. Great dressing. But it would have been better if I didn't have to eat with a plastic fork and a metal knife. That was all they had out. Also, we ordered sodas, and they handed us our cups to get our own, but I never saw a soda machine anywhere ... we both just got the tea they had out on a counter. We could have asked, of course, for a metal fork, and for the sodas (and lids for our cups, which were also out) but ... they were right there watching us look for all this stuff, and no one offered any assistance. I will say my cupcake was really tasty.
This was my first visit, and I wouldn't rule out going again. But the feeling I got (if you are reading, Cupcake Cafe owners) was that this was probably a really neat place when it first opened, but perhaps the owners have lost interest or enthusiasm. I do realize that there are birthday parties going on in the shop, but everything was just dusty and sticky and dull, the way a place gets when it hasn't been tended to as well as it should be.

MY REVIEW: My nephew had a birthday party here. I was not looking forward to yet another cardboard pizza from a mouse named Chuck. I assumed the cafe was a cheesy kids place but I was relatively surprised when I arrived that it was a very urban-chic decor meets Willie Wonka on acid feel.
The food was actually really really good. I ordered a hamburger and it was grilled just right. My gf ordered a chicken sandwich with about a million changes on it but the fellow behind the counter didn't blink basically making a custom sandwich to order.
Back to the burger. Unsure of what they seasoned it with but whatever it was, it worked out quite nicely. Kind of spicy with a bit of char. The menu was small but varied so I think I may come back. Oh, the cupcakes were sublime. Beware, they are very rich and very sugary. The kids were on a serious sugar high at the end of the party, happy but buzzing. I made the mistake of eating one with a soda. Will have straight coffee next time.
The only thing I'd say negatively was the use of chips. That's kind of a punt restaurant wise. It's cheap and easy. I didn't realize (maybe my fault for not noticing) that you can also get pasta with it.

MY REVIEW: Strong Points: Finally, a bakery that does cupcakes right! The cupcakes are moist, full of flavor (but not *too* sweet), the icing is a nice touch -- without being overwhelming. My favorites are strawberry, chocolate, birthday cake, and red velvet. Very friendly owner, really seems to love cupcakes. I thought the sandwiches were fresh and really tasty, too.
Weak Points: I would like to see strawberry cupcakes with vanilla butter cream icing, and chocolate cupcakes with vanilla butter cream icing. Found the cream cheese icing too rich, and didn't like the taste of the chocolate icing.
Overall, I love, love this place.

MY REVIEW: Well, I have been several times and I love the cupcakes. The cupcakes are much better than at the newer "S*ugarBaby's".... You know, I am willing to pay over $3 for a cupcake as long as it is served with some basic good service such as: "Hi, how are you? How can I help you"...and "Thank You, come again".. The people here need an education in simple customer service. They were not high school kids either, I thought they might be the owners. They were not rude per se but not very happy to see us either... You know, the same way I expect service with a smile when I buy a $4 drink at S*tarbucks, I expect that here and have never gotten it so I won't be back....

MY REVIEW: The wife and I finally decided to go in. The decor is a sort of funky colorful chic that you usually see inside the loop. Black walls with very colorful frames and small pastel candelabras hanging from the ceiling. Oh, that plus a cupcake bid enough for King Kong to eat. All in all, we really liked the decor. A bit of a divergence from the usual Sugar Land eateries, so that is a good thing. It lacked a sanitized "corporate" feel.
The front counter was pretty inviting. We got the Tuscan Grilled Cheese and Buffalo Chicken Wrap. I was not hoping for much sandwich wise considering some of the other sandwich shops in the area but we were blown away. The grilled cheese wasn't just some cheese and bread. They had a sort of petso/mayo that was included with the swiss and mozerella topped off with some pretty fresh roma tomatoes. The foccacia was really tasty too.
It all worked together pretty well. The buffalo wrap was different from what we expected. I was assuming some nuked chicken fingers slathered with buffalo sauce. It was fresh chicken with a really good balance of blue cheese and buffalo sauce. Not to spicy but just right.
The cold pasta side dish is really good as well. A pesto covered spiral pasta that wasn't at all greasy or mealy.
For desert, we tried the red velvet, boston cream, chocolate lovers, and oreo ones. The only complaint whatsoever I had about the restaurant was that the cupcakes were fresh from the cold case and were a bit chilly. Really, that's about it. Just let them sit for a couple minutes and they'll be perfect. I had coffee with them and the coffee is plain coffee. It's just about the only thing that wasn't particularly good. It was normal joe.
My wife already said this is the place we are going back to for her birthday. So that was a pretty ringing endorsement. We'll be going back for sure. Though I'll skip getting the coffee next time.

MY REVIEW: I go to other places, but keep coming back here. The cupcakes are really good, but I go for the carrot cake. They now do little personal size cakes so I bought one for my husbands birthday it was so yummy and just right for 2. Had my first burger there yesterday and it was huge juicy and delicious, got my husband going with me now, although he hates to admit it.

MY REVIEW: The Bama's Chicken Salad served in a flaky croissant is my favorite. I love the cold pasta, it's so tasty. The carrot cake is wonderful. I recomment trying this place.

MY REVIEW: The cupcakes looked delicious (and huge) upon our arrival. Not much variety on the menu. I ordered a customized turkey sandwich and it was good. The side orders weren't - cold pasta and a bland salad. My mom loved the chocolate cupcake. I tried the red velvet, and it was ok. The outside was a bit hard, but the inside was moist. Didn't really taste like red velvet though. Try it, I guess.

MY REVIEW: I am not a big fan of cupcakes, so never tried their cupcackes. I've tried their tres leches and bread pudding. Tres leches is too sweet and bread pudding is ok, nothing really speacial about it. I think their food is a little bit pricey, but if you love cupcake, go check it out, they have really good selections.

MY REVIEW: Out of all the cupcakes I've tried in Houston, this place had by far the best tasting cupcakes. The cupakes were huge, but then I noticed they also had medium size which is the normal cupcake size. The cupcakes are refrigerated so I had to wait until it got to room temperature. It was definitely worth the wait. The cake tasted good and was very moist. The buttercream frosting was really really really good. None of that fake whipped buttercream here. They were also very accomodating. I wanted a strawberry cupcake w/ buttercream icing (they put cream cheese icing on it) and I got it!!! This was my first trip, and I will definitely be going back.

MY REVIEW: Thank you for such a wonderful treat! My neices and nephew had a great time for lunch at the cafe. Everyone was so accommodating and friendly to the kidos. They especially loved decorating their own fantastic cupcakes. We loved the variety and taste of the sandwiches served. They are such picky eaters. The soups were mouthwatering. My husband really doesn't like soups, but he loves their tortilla soup. For a really relaxed meal and great food and desserts, we'll make sure to go to the Cupcake Cafe. You should too!

MY REVIEW: The cupcakes tastes like it was made from a cake mix. They look a lot better than they taste. I had the tres leches and the chocolate lovers. The tres leches was overly sweet. The cake is suppose to be a light sponge cake but instead was very dense. The whipped cream was dry and sticky, like it'd been sitting out a day too long. The chocolate lovers was ordinary, not worth $3.75.

MY REVIEW: New ownership has only made this place better. More consistant, everything is fresher. The sandwiches and soups are delicious, but the desserts OH MY GOD!! The carrot cake and the baileys irish cream is my favorite, while my kids love almost any of the cupcakes. The cases stay full now, with cheesecakes, cakes and over 9-10 varieties of cupcakes. If you haven't been in awhile try again, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

MY REVIEW: I love the cupcake cafe. This is a great place to go for all ages. The CupCakes are Delicious. Sometimes they do not have the ones I like but if you ask or call ahead the staff is very accomadating. I recommend it for a special treat at night or for a lunch with friends you haven't seen in a while.

MY REVIEW: Awesome cupcakes...There were chocolate and regular ones with colorful frosting, tres leches cupcakes, boston creme pie cupcakes...And a few more I couldn't remember. I didn't get any of the food food, cos I went there on a cupcake mission. $3.24 for they're cupcakes is not bad, they're huge, delicious, and you share them with someone else. I got the tres leches cupcake...sooo good. GO! Support something in Sugar Land that finally isn't just another huge franchise.

MY REVIEW: GREAT FOOD, GREAT STAFF, GREAT DESSERTS!! i absolutely fell in love with the Cupcake Cafe as soon as i walked in the door to see the chic cupcake decor and cute sayings handpainted on the walls such as "Satisfy Your Craving" and "Eat Dessert First". The staff was incredibly welcome and very helpful, too.
very impressive considering the fact that they have only been open for just under a year. I had the Bama's Chicken Salad sandwich with a DELICIOUS cup of the Broccoli & Cheese soup. all of the desserts look wonderful and creative every time i go in, and the Carrot Cake was a perfect ending to my meal; i even got to take some home because of the GIGANTIC slice!
i highly recommend this place for anyone of any age. YOU WILL LOVE IT!

MY REVIEW: My husband and i went one afternoon for lunch. I had the california wrap, and he had the pesto chicken paninni. The sandwiches were good and fresh. Portions were huge. We wanted to have dessert but we were stuffed at the end of lunch, The case had about 5 different types of cupcakes when we were there.
Great decorations. There were a lot of young children there with their parents. However, they were well behaved. There is no law that bans children from eating out. most children are better behaved than some adults.
Will return with my daughter. I think she will enjoy. It is nice to see a mom and pop eatery in the sugarland area.

MY REVIEW: Never again. Limited menu. Bland food. I am torn between wanting to know where they buy that cheese and not knowing at all. Kind of messy from the ill-mannered children. Let's put it this way, my mother, who is never rude, asked to be taken elsewhere. She could not finish the sandwhich.
PS - Hose this place down at night after the brats leave.

MY REVIEW: This is my fourth attempt to get my review posted. We love the turkey wraps and chicken salad sandwiches here, but the so called cupcakes are a joke at $3.75 a piece and they are incredibly dry and tasteless and only have one kind in the store to buy, anyway. Could be really cute place, but they need to keep the tables and floors cleaned up better. Will return for the wraps, but have learned not to waste more money on the cupcakes. Come on, have you tasted what you are selling?

MY REVIEW: Since I have driven by it so many times, I decided to take my mom there for a mother's day treat. It was adorable. The sandwiches are decent.. but we came for the dessert. The portion sizes were insaaane..almost cartoonish. We had to take everything home, we just couldn't take any more bites of the chocolate cake slice we ordered. It was the most gigantic cake slice I've ever seen. It is a nice place to take kids...they've been open for under a year so bear with them if they run out of cupcakes by the time you get there. I think it is important to support family owned local restaurants and cafes so sugarlanders please do try this place out for a little sweet treat.

MY REVIEW: Don't go expecting a variety (meaning more than one or two kinds!) of cupcakes or you will be VERY disappointed!! It must only be called Cupcake Cafe for its decorations and definitely not for its selection of cakes.
