MY REVIEW: If you like Gyros then you probably know N*iko N*ikos, but if you live in NW Houston and don't want to drive all the way into the Montrose area for a decent Gyro this little place is where you want to be. They have a daily lunch special that includes Gyro, fries or salad that always hits the spot and its not super expensive either. My only gripe is the fries are not the best and this place falls short on ambiance, its basically a little dive with really good food.

MY REVIEW: Yesterday I had a craving to go get a good 'cheesesteak' Having moved to TX about 3 years ago from Virginia, I realized that here in Houston, there are Tex-Mex places on every corner but no GOOD cheesestak place where as back north, you would never say hey lets go get Mexican food, you would go get a good cheesesteak or gyro. What I mean is that a cheesesteak from F*irehouse Subs, S*ubway or P*hilly Connection is NOT a cheesesteak! Looking on this site I found Gyros & Shish Kabobs and decided to check it out. 4 of us from Virginia decided to go together and see what we would find. The atmosphere of the parking lot to the front counter just wasnt doing for me but thats where you find some of the best food. Ordered up the food and waited for what seemed like forever considering we were alone at the time of order. During my wait, I was able to relax when I could hear them actually cooking the cheesesteak and knew it was going to be great. During this time, this small place QUICKLY filled up and I knew I was going to be in for something amazing. One the food arrived, I was absolutely correct! I ordered my cheesesteak with onions, peppers, and cheese only with a small order of their fries and I literally ate everything off my plate and found myself not even needing ketchup for the fries. While I wish the selection of beverages wasn't limited to small 16oz bottles, it wont prevent me from going again! Great customer service and it was a great experience. While at first I thought the price was a bit expensive, it was all in my head for the amount of food we got! So in short, if you want a good cheesesteak and fries, THIS IS the place. I will return soon.

MY REVIEW: Not the best gyros in town, but a rather acceptable alternative to driving down to Montrose and waiting an hour for a gyro. The pita bread was soft and fresh, the gyros were packed with meat, and the tzatziki sauce was tasty and didn't overpower the meat.

MY REVIEW: Everything I've eaten here has been delicious--the gyros, the shish kabobs, the fresh cut fries and greek salad. The only sad thing is that the philly cheesesteak is so good it's hard not to neglect the other menu items. I can't order a philly cheesesteak anywhere else after trying these. I have lived in Bear Creek for four years and never went here until I happened upon the reviews on this site. Thank goodness I'm no longer missing out!

It's definitely a dive hole in the wall, but a dive with amazing food, great prices, and nice folks running it.

MY REVIEW: Based on the many favorable reviews, we decided to try take out from here the other day.  We tried both the beef and chicken gyros.  Overall, they just didn't do it for us.  Different people obviously have different tastes and this just didn't seem to suit ours.  For one thing, they were not as tender as we expected and they put so much sauce on the gyros that it almost overwhelms the taste of the meat.  On the positive side, the fresh cut fries were very good.  Despite what others have said about the owner being grumpy, I thought he seemed pleasant.  Also, while the decor is nothing great, it wasn't all that bad - just spartan.  If we do give them another shot, it will likely be for the burgers.

MY REVIEW: Atmosphere? Face the facts - this place is a dive hole in a pretty awful wall but the food is outstanding especially for the price. Going back today.

MY REVIEW: Excellent food, super cheap prices, We eat there about twice a month!

Everything is great, Greek Salad with wonderful Basalmic Vinegar and real whole olives! I did try the Baklava last time and it was a little stale but that was the first time in 5 that it was like that. We'll be back to visit them again!

MY REVIEW: You've heard of the Soup Natzi on Seinfield, this is definetly the Gyro Natzi of Houston. Gyros are the best I've ever had, you couldn't touch one this good in NYC and I have been to several so called authentic grills in New York. But whatever you do , don't complain about anything in the restaurant or No More Gyros for you!!!!

MY REVIEW: The dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) are amazing (my husband's favorite). I adore the chicken gyro, hummus, and spinach pie. I still have yet to make it to the baklava (looks good, but I'm always full by then!). The prices are very reasonable too. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a great gyro!! We just happened upon this place (it's nestled away in a shopping center & I never would have found it if it weren't for the GPS on our rental car!) I'm so glad we live only a few miles away...it's about as good as *Y*ia *Y*ia *M*ary's* (but less choices) but it's way closer.

MY REVIEW: THE BEST gyros in Houston! My husband and I have been coming to this little strip center restaurant for 17 years - food is fresh, authentic, and consistently delicious. We always get the hummus, gyros, veggie sandwich, Greek salads and baklava for dessert. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it - let's go!

MY REVIEW: The food is incredible, I have been coming here for years, almost since they opened. I have lived in greece for a period of time, and the food here is exactly what it was when I was in greece. The atmosphere is cozy, the owner Aboss is very friendly, he tends to make me feel like family, he can be a little shy but once you have stopped in a couple of times he warms up quite a bit.

I have eaten at many other places including N*iko N*iko's and you just cant get a better gyro in texas, and their prices are phenominal. For just a gyro at N*iko it costs around $7 but here it costs around $4.

MY REVIEW: I heard about this place from a friend at work and I'm glad that I finally made it over there to try it out.

I’m kicking myself for not even knowing about it since I grew up in the Bear Creek area, this place is very easy to miss but very very good. I had the lunch special Gyro with Greek Salad and drink for $5.49

While waiting for my meal I ended up talking to someone at the next table who was from Chicago and he told me that this was the best Gyros he has had in Houston...I can say that also but this was my first and I will return very soon to try it again and sample some other menu items.

I did notice someone ordered a cheese burger; it appeared to be a half pound patty.

Service was a bit slow, there was a younger guy running the register who doubled as a meal assembler who could have used a red bull or something to make him move a bit faster, simple task like getting a fountain drink or the salad took way too long.

This place is more of a deli than a restaurant. There are only a few tables, maybe 12 and a small bar area with a TV

I will add this restaurant to my rotation and when I am in the area I will visit it more often.

MY REVIEW: The reviewer below is right on concerning the food. I've been eating here for over fifteen years. Houston is blessed with several good gyros places but this is the best. You just won't fine a better gyro anywhere. (I've eaten them all over North America.) I keep telling myself that I should try the kabobs but always end up with the gyro. Sometimes it does seem a little dead but they have a strong take out business.
