MY REVIEW: I am a Taiwanese cuisine lover. I tried black pepper steak with noodle. It was so so and nothing special. Thin noodle soup with Oyster and the oyster pancake were not good at all. Only dish that I like is the Sticky rice cake. This place can not compare to the now closed A*y-Chung noodle.

MY REVIEW: I was really looking forward to eating here with my Taiwanese neighbour who had recommended this place, many times. We shared several main courses and were determined to sample the most outlandish foods we could find since our normal American dining comrades were absent and are loathe to consider such unusual quisine. None attending were disappointed. Between four of us, for $11.00 a head, we had our fill. Orders must be made at the kitchen's counter and drinks are self serve. Food is promptly delivered after you set your own table.
The stinky (fermented) tofu sounded much more threatening than it actually was, next time we'll order the stinky pot, which has a more pungent reputation. We (I) tried garlic seaweed, pork liver & blood jelly soup as starters and were very impressed by the snails with basil, 3 cup squid and fish. The fried intestines were very interesting but for me a little too fatty -that's how it is I suppose. I cant wait to go back again. It's a kitchen truly untainted by American compromises, that offers tasty and exotic foods guaranteed by our guide to be just like home. I can't wait to go back. I get hungry just thinking about it.

MY REVIEW: I've heard a lot of good stuff about this place so I decided to try it out myself. The main dish I was craving was sizzling black pepper steak. Essentially its a thin piece of ribeye steak on top of noodles (you can get rice too, but I prefer the noodles) drizzled with black pepper sauce. It is served on a sizzling plate (think fajita plate), with some veggies (carrots, broccoli) on the side and a sunny side up egg.
The egg is quite a highlight for many people, so I was disappointed when my egg came to be over done, the true way to serve the egg is runny. The ribeye is good, when is ribeye not good? The sauce is alright. Overall, the plate was so-so, I would eat it again, but it doesn't make me crave it every week.
The point to note here is, this is one of the few places that serve this dish, so however they serve it, I will take it.
Besides this dish, the restaurant has many familar Taiwanese food usually only present at nightmarket in Taiwan. If you are craving nightmarket food, might as well go here.

MY REVIEW: Very good authenthic Taiwanese food. I have been their many times. Be brave and try the stinky tofu. Their dan dan mein is very traditional Taiwanese cuisine. Their oyster pan cake is by far the best in Houston.
