MY REVIEW: We dont often get over to Iguana Joes because of where we live, but as luck would have it a recent graduation party brought us over to the 1-10 and bw8 area so my wife and I decided to go out for supper after the party. Once Again Iguana Joes does not dissapoint, best fajitas I've ever had, service was relatively quick for a saturday night with no reservation and withing about 45 minutes we were eating our food. Chips and Salsa were as always the best I can recall, their green sauce is still the best I have ever had from all the restaurants that offer it. My wife raves about the margaritas saying they r still the best and I wishes we had an iguana joes by us out in the champions area. Service was fine, food was awesome and as I said according to my wife the Frozen Margaritas are the best she's ever had. I hope to either get an iguana joes by us, or maybe more graduation parties to attend by their locations.

MY REVIEW: We go here a lot after church on Sunday evenings. Food is good - average Mexican food, it's the service that spoils it. They do the Birthday celebration yell / scream that takes all servers to where the birthday table is. Service stops. We received 3 of our 4 meals and was waiting on a side of beans for my daughter and an extra plate. Stop everthing, the server even left my tortillas on the tray and went to the other side of the restaurant where the celebration of noise was happening for somebody's birthday. Meanwhile, I get up and get my tortillas off the tray about 6 feet away. Then, all servers take part in the birthday screamfest (I really hate restaurants that do this) on the other side of the restaurant. Then, another birthday celebration - yep - more screaming and hollering at a table outside. They were out there for 6 minutes. I got up and went to the kitchen myself and asked for my side of beans and a plate. On the way back I stopped and filled my own chip basket with chips and got a red sauce too. As I was going back to my table, my server passed me. I told him I served myself and did his job for him. I also told him that regardless of who's birthday it is, he needs to take care of his tables and service his customers. I also talked to the manager - she seemed not to care. We will not return here and all because of the service. I tipped myself for my own service.

MY REVIEW:
Young inexperianced staff, but that's to be expected when 90% of them are 22 and younger. I always get decent service though, no they go above and beyond, but I never have to wait on a drink. Speaking of which, their margaritas are off the chain! This is a great place to go and chill after work and unwind. I will be back.

MY REVIEW: Been a couple times and found the food to be ok, but service lacking. I agree with some of the previous reviews about the long wait to be seated and the immaturity of the waitstaff. Also it feels too cramped because, even though this is a good sized dining room, the tables are too close together.
I think SLS is unnecessarily settling for mediocrity when he says, "Servive is no worst than any other restaurant these days." Then he wishes for good Mexican food in the LaPorte area. Good news, SLS, you can beat Iguana Joe's FOOD AND SERVICE by going to either El T*orro or El R*anchero (my favorite) in downtown LaPorte!!!

MY REVIEW: We love this restaurant and eat here often. The margaritas are the BEST. The food never disappoints. We do try to "beat the crowds" and go early on Friday or Saturdays. We have also had take out and have been satisfied with that, too.

MY REVIEW: Horrible to go service! Bad waiters and a young unprofessional manager who claimed I couldn't get my money back on their mess up but I got my money back. I asked for the owner's information and they refused to give it out. I would rather drive to Washington St. off Memorial Drive and there are plenty of mexican restaruants that are way better!!!

MY REVIEW: I go to Iguana Joe's because it is cheap and pretty decent food. However, I think that the restaurant needs to work out a better waiter training program, because the service lacks pretty bad. I never see a manager greet my table like El T*oro's or P*appasitos, and they charge for EVERYTHING. I always get X2 rice and no beans...what is the point of charging for something as little as that....and to charge a dollar. a dollar is not a lot, but i just think it is ridiculous. also - cleaner dishes would be nice as well.
as far as the pricing, i give kudos for that because it's nice to run in to a restaurant and get food for everyone with a small bill.
please...just hire better servers rather than snobby teenagers who dont know how to smile...

MY REVIEW: I remember going to Iguana Joe's on Woodforest when it first opened. My family and I stumbled in when they were doing a trial run for the families of the employees before officially opening the restaurant. They let us stay and our meal was free. After that we were loyal customers. I can't say that anymore.
We decided to go back to the Woodforest location a few months ago and recently visited the new location off Beltway 8 and Wallisville and we will never go back. First of all the service is absolutely terrible. I went in the weeks after the new location opened and my waitress took the order of the people across from us before us and we were seated before them, waiting patiently with our menus closed to order (isn't that the universal sign of hey! we're ready to go!???). We got our queso literally 1 minute before our entree and it took over 30 minutes to get sopapillas to go. Did I mention that I had no silverware and my waitress was nowhere to be seen. The girl who brought us our food just dumped it off. The table across from us gave me their silverware which shouldn't be the case (although much appreciated). I ordered the stuffed avocados and they were quite gross...a deep fried chicken tender styled breading with very little avocado or chicken.
And despite this we went back a week ago...they got my mother's order wrong and again our waitress was nowhere to be seen. When we finally flagged her down (10 minutes after our food was dumped off) she wanted to charge us to correct the order!!! The restaurant's policy was for my mom to stop eating so they could take her plate back and replace her beef taco with a chicken taco. The manager even came over and told us that he would have to charge us! All we wanted was for someone to bring us the chicken taco my mother ordered...on a separate plate. They even went so far as to want to grab my mom's taco with their hands off her plate. The manager even had the nerve to tell us that next time we need to tell our waitress right away...kind of hard when they're nonexistent.
The didn't charge us for their mistake but we will never return after the lack of customer service. On top of all that...the loads of avocado they used to put on their Cancun Chicken dish was reduced to a tiny sliver of an avocado slice. Terrible. Save your money and go to D*ona Lupe on Woodforest. It's family owned, great food and great service.

MY REVIEW: My mom and i saw when they where first building Iguana Joe's and we thought we try it. I'm sure glad we did. We went after church on sunday at about 11 am. As soon as we enter in we were greeted with a loud echo of hellos , welcome , and enjoy your meal as we were seated. Once we recieved our menus i just didn't know what to choose and thats a first for me. There was such a large variety. The menu consist of mexcian food or TEX MEX.
To make a long story short. Our food came out piping hot , and we never had to ask for a refill. we rarely had ask for anything and when we did we got it right quickly.
The Green Salsa is Delicous ! I even took some home , but pink lemonade is not very sweet and you even get free ice cream with your meal ! I really enjoy this my time at this feistive restaurant

MY REVIEW: great Tex-Mex food great value great service whats not to love?
I'm guilty of sticking with the same menu item over and over (for years)when I get something I like. Iguana Joe's is the only restaurant that I have ventured out and tried several different menu items and it has been a great success.
absolutely our favorite everyday restaurant it is a family oriented place and not known to be a quiet place.

MY REVIEW: I think the food is excellent and consistent. Sometimes when it's crowded, it is hard for the waiter to give excellent service but I can always flag someone else down. Had Eric as server today and he was great. Not sure why the other reviewer couldn't get anyone's attention. I have never had that problem.

MY REVIEW: my wife and i were wanting some comfort food, which for us is simple TEX-MEX. i have eaten here before and know the food is a only a little better than mediocre, but it is what it is and it's consistent. We were not after the premier fine dining experience, Iguana Joe's was exactly what we wanted on this particular night. Upon arrival we were seated fairly near the door which was great because I am temporarily hobbled with torn cartilage in my knee and was walking with a cane.My hat is off to the hostess for this consideration
We were approached in reasonable time and waiter was patient while we took a few extra moments to decide. We got our drinks, appetizer and chips and then our waiter apparently vanished. the food was delivered by an assortment of other personnel and we sat for a restaurant eternity with empty drink glasses and chip basket. There were only about ten tables total in the whole place and there were eight or ten servers standing around. I stood up, I waved my arms, I tried to flag down other servers who passed and was totally ignored. finally I stood up and yelled to the whole restaurant "If he has not been abducted by aliens would someone please send our waiter. several moments later he emerged from the Cantina section of the restaurant and asked if I would like a my refilled leaving my wife's empty glass sitting until he returned with mine.
We finished our meal and were ready to get our check, again no sign of Eric. after about three minutes of scanning the dining room for some sign of him he came and grabbed our dirty plates. He brought the check about two minutes after that, and then; still with only one other occupied table in the section I waited several minutes for him to pick up my payment.
I did something I never do and hate doing, I left a teeny weeny, way less than the bare minimum tip with a note on the voucher indicating how poor the service was. To do otherwise would be to encourage this type of nonchalant service.
I just hope my wife does not try to steer me to this place again, because I refuse to return
