MY REVIEW: OMG! This is hands down the best Mexican/Tex Mex, whatever you call it, that I have ever eaten at!!! My husband and I eat out alot, and we like to try different places. This is now our go-to place for Mexican. So far, my fav is Tommy's Taco's. I also like that I can go in and eat dinner at 6 AM, which is my dinner time because I work nights.

MY REVIEW: This place is the best. The owners also have a restaurant in Houston called Mi S*ombrero on 34th Street that I have been going to since the 80' when in junior high and visit El Ranchero in LaPorte a couple of times a month now that I live in Pasadena. They definitely pass the hot sauce test and prices are extremely reasonable. Go!!

MY REVIEW: Excellent margaritas and food quality at reasonable prices. Go there when they have the two-piece guitar players - Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Try it, you will definitely go back. One small gripe - the hostess staff could use some greeting etiquette.

MY REVIEW: Have been eating here for over 23 years and in high school with off-campus lunch. The Ranch - as locals call it - has always been reliable. Only once in 25 years have I been disappointed in an order. That was ordering shredded chicken tacos and the new cook used pulled, unseasoned boiled chicken. But, it was easily corrected and that was that.
Try the breakfast enchiladas, Tommy tacos (if you can take the heat, that is) and the infamous No.1 (when you are just famished.) I always get sliced avocado and it is enough to share with the rest of the table. The prices have only gone up once that I have noticed in the last 10 years and the food has, for the most part remained the same (exception is training new cooks.) You won't be disappointed if you want good food; you might be if all you are used to is fast food mexican.

MY REVIEW: The wonderful rice and beans are back, good as ever! Last 2-3 visits they were off taste, but owner must be back in the kitchen. Beef enchiladas are the best. This is retro Tex-Mex at retro prices. Gotta love this place!

MY REVIEW: Rice is off and on my last 3 visits. This time, it didn't have the aaroma and taste that I say must come from garlic. Told long time waiter about rice and he said sometimes when owner doesn't prepare it then it isn't the same. Seems like a pretty easy fix to me---give the back-up cook the receipe and expect him to follow it to the letter. Same with refried beans---they lost that deep flavor and the sheen/slick on top. Maybe some wimp complained about the lard. C'mon folks, this is Tex-Mex after all. It may seem odd that I'm only talking about rice and beans, but El Rancho's has (until recently)been head and shoulders above their competition. I just hate to see them lose ground, that's all.

MY REVIEW: Back again for breakfast, but I never get traditional breakfast items. Beef enchiladas are the absolute best, so ordered Especial #1 Plate which includes a beef taco & chili con queso (both just average) and quacamole (very good) to go along with enchiladas. As always, their rice and beans are beteer than any other place I've ever tried. My last visit the rice was off a little, but it's back now. This is a great little place on La Porte's main street that only locals seen to know about.

MY REVIEW: Last visit (early June) rice was off just a little. Had lost that great garlicky aaroma, but still tasted better than anywhere else---- just not quite as good as before. Maybe just a fluke. Need to return soon and see if they are back to normal. But everything else was great, as always. Been a customer for years. But need to try other menu items. Can't resist ordering beef enchiladas, even for breakfast with 2 eggs sunny-side up on top! Cannot beat food, price, service at Laporte location. Didn't realize there are 2 other El Ranchero locations----- are you sure they are owned by same folks?

MY REVIEW: I really, really enjoy the Summer Plate. I haven't had this particular dish since my favorite Los T*ios location moved. However, I've had several of their entrees and have enjoyed each of them. My husband loves the carne guisada and the fajitas. I can really second the reviews that stress the quality of the food. The wait staff is always pleasant and attentive. When we were there on Mother's Day, the service was excellent, the food plentiful and good, and the sweet touch of presenting each mom a rose very thoughtful. This is a really nice restaurant. I intend to become an "everybody knows my name" patron.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I went there this past Sunday, to try their weekend breakfast, we had seen advertised. (This was the Kingwood location). WOW! This was excellent! We both got Chorizio (Sp?!) and eggs, with refried beans and rice. Chips were also served, with breakfast! Our meals were only $3.99 each! This was by far, the best breaskfast, compared to Ihop or Dennys. And CHEAP! If you want to go for breaskfast, they stop serving at 11:00am. Dinner has always been excellent there too and we drive in from a smaller town to go eat there!

MY REVIEW: El Ranchero in LaPorte, hands down, has the best beef enchiladas, refried beans and rice. Why rave over such a common dish as Mexican rice? Never tasted better anywhere. The aaroma! Smell then taste! This is a great Tex-Mex find and price is like a throw-back to late 80's.

MY REVIEW: I LOVE this place! The Tex-Mex is great. The service is also fabulous. And they often have Mariachi singers, which adds to the atmosphere. I'm actually not a huge fan of the salsa, but I'm a very picky salsa eater. Besides, the actual food is good enough to keep me coming back!

MY REVIEW: The El Ranchero on Loop 494 just outside of Kingwood is just as good. The people are all very friendly and the service is fast. Best of all, even during eating rush hours you can find a table without waiting. And now they have margaritas to go with their excellent food. We eat at a lot of Mexican restaurants and I rate this one at the top of the list.

MY REVIEW: **WOW** Just what this neighborhood needed - a great Mexican restaurant and personal service. We have been there so many times and they only recently opened - it's great! The enchiladas, fajitas, queso, quesadillas - all fabulous. During the week they discount the margaritas - they are out of this world. The wait staff has come a long way since they first opened. Dont miss this great neighborhood restaurant.
