AJ's Meat Market & Smokehouse

MY REVIEW: These guys really know how to make sausage. Picked up some sausage with green onion today for the freezer. Got some sliced up for the trip home---their regular sausage that they cook up to serve in the restaurant (this is more meat market than restaurant, but they do have a few tables). Also picked up some of their market-made boudin for the freezer, however, it never made it to the freezer. Cooked it tonight and I can tell you it's as good as any I've had from Louisana.

MY REVIEW: Nice bunch of guys who run this small smokehouse/meat market. And they put out some pretty good food. Good selection, should be something for every carnivore. I got the 3 meat plate with 2 veggies. Priced maybe a buck or two more than some BBQ joints, but worth it. Sliced brisket was good, but even better were the ribs and market-made sausage. As for the sides, I really liked the seasoned black eye peas, but next time I'll pass on potato salad.

If I were going to feed a bunch of guys, I would definitely buy a few pounds of their sausage and ribs.

MY REVIEW: These guys are very nice and they give great service. The meat is a little expensive but worth it. They catered to the exact way that I wanted my meat cut and help me decide on sides. I have not ordered anything cooked but the meat that I've bought there over the years has always been excellent. I'm always in and out of there quick, too!

MY REVIEW: Wonderful Tender meat, great "from the pit" taste! Can order meat packages to take home and put in your freezer! Not muchon size or decor, but GREAT food!

MY REVIEW: Well, we don't "dine" there, but we frequent the place to pick up the habanero and cheese sausage. However, I was at a wedding reception on Sunday that had brisket, sausage, and chicken catered from there and I must say, I was prett dissapointed. I think their BBQ sauce should be just a tad tangier. It was kind of sweet, but bland at the same time.

MY REVIEW: The brisket looks great. Has a big pink smoke ring. Unfortunately the guy keeps it in a steamer. So it tastes like boiled meat. Absolutely no smoky flavor at all. But I'd like to try it when it is fresh out of the pit.
