MY REVIEW: First impressions really count! Will not be going back. Came in for lunch, wanted to try out the new place - it has a great location! There was maybe one customer in the whole resturaunt for lunch but no one at the podium to greet or seat us. The front door is visible by the bartender, however her conversation with one customer was more important than noticing how long we stood there I guess. After standing in front for more than 5 minutes we grabbed some menus and decided to seat ourselves. There was about 4 wait staff in the kitchen just staring at us through the pass window, just looking at us like we were from outer space! So I started waving to them and asked if they were open or what? Someone finally came out and just stood there and asked "so.. how many?" dumbfounded I replied, "just us" she then walked away and back to the kitchen. The whole time the other servers were just standing there staring at us! Very weird. We finally decided after none of them came out to take our order we would go elsewhere. I asked the bartender on the way out where the manager was and she said she wasn't sure then continued her conversation. As we were walking out a man came out, the cook? He was wearing a chefs jacket and asked "are you just going to leave?" I told him about waiting and just said we would go somewhere else. Whoever is managing that place needs to be fired! we went across the street to p.f. c*hangs and received a warm welcome, a table and excellent service!

MY REVIEW: Went to Mi Cocina for my birthday. Restaurant was not overly busy - maybe 6 tables of guests. Waitress took our order and never returned to re-fill our tea and water glasses.. Finally the manager came and refilled them. Took a long time to get our order; my husband's fajitas were tough - they were sliced in the wrong direction. My chicken mole enchiladas were bland; no flavor at all. When we were brought the bill, I mentioned to the waitress about the tough fajitas and being sliced the wrong way; she checked with the kitchen and they told her I was right; but that's the way they slice their fajitas. Needless to say, the price does not justify the quality nor the service. Will not be going back. Ever.

MY REVIEW: This place was awesome from start to finish. Let me say I grew up in the DFW area so I noticed a couple of things different on the menu from the usual Houston Tex-Mex including picante sauce instead of salsa which was delicious. Also, they had cheese tacos on the menu which is an awesome comfort Mexican food that I grew up on . The staff was very professional and friendly. We went for a lunch on Friday .... it was busy but not crowded. Terrific 8.95 lunch specials. Loved the atmosphere. It probably will get quite loud in here when it's crowded. Not the most kid-friendly place but I would still not hesitate to take a child there. Definitely plan on returning.

MY REVIEW: This was our first visit to this new location in The Woodlands. The food was excellent. We had queso blanco, no charge to add ground beef; street tacos & crispy chicken enchiladas. The only thing I would change is getting my corn tortillas on the side with the street tacos. There was a pool of grease that made them soggy & they fell apart before I could finish. The beef had great flavor though & great amount of spiciness. We will come back for sure, just a few tweaks to our order. The service was bad at first then finished well, but I think it's just working out the kinks of a new restaurant, new employees, etc. All in all, it was a nice dinner. Great to have more authentic Mexican food in The Woodlands, unlike some of the other chain restaurants.

MY REVIEW: WOW!!!!!
We had lunch at Mi Cocina and were surprised with the quality and the home made flavor of AUTHENTIC MEXICAN CUISINE. The restaurant was really nice as well and the service was great. Being from Mexico, I can tell you that if you're looking for real, excellent quality Mexican cuisine in The Woodlands, Mi Cocina is the place to go. We'll definitely return!!!

MY REVIEW: Its close to my home is why I intitially tried it, but I think from now on I'll keep driving. Its high end mexican food at average value. You get charged for everything extra even sauce, or sour cream. The magarita's are a plus but very expensive. The service is fast, but majority of staff has a hard time with english, but very gracious.

MY REVIEW: Mi Cocina is the best Tex-Mex restaurant in Houston. I've been a number of times and the service is always great. The food is simple, fresh, and prepared with quality ingredients. The decor is contemporary but comfortable.
It's telling that some of the people knocking this restaurant point out N*infa's or other Houston sub-standards as an example of a "great" Mexican restaurant. Yeah, if you like your velveeta queso and grease dribbling off every bite, you'll probabably be happier somewhere else.

MY REVIEW: I LOVE Mi Cocina. I am from Fort Worth and the Tex-Mex/Mexican food you get up there is just different from what we have found down here. I was so exicted to see that Mi Cocina opened a place in Houston. Thier Chorizo and eggs is fabulous and served all day, which is a great thing if you want breakfast for dinner like my husband does. I love the Ernie's chicken and it is about the only thing I order since we don't get there as much as we like. They have been great about our special requests and mixing and matching side items. They even made sure one of our friends with food allergies was totally taken care. This place is one of the best in Houston and I'm not sure why it isn't always packed.

MY REVIEW: This is truly a worthwhile stop for Mexican food aficionados. The salsa and guacomole are excellent. Also, the fajita nachos are the best in town. Cheese enchiladas were great. Try the Mambo Taxi margaritas as well. The prices are in line with other upscale Tex-Mex restaurants, but this is not a restaurant for penny pinchers. The outdoor patio is wonderful!

MY REVIEW: The food is very good here, just different from what I have come to expect from your average Mexican restaurant. They obviously use very fresh product and try to tempt you with unique offerings. The Mamas Tacos were great as was the Carne Asada. I wasnt a fan of the queso, I happen to like Velveta and you can tell that they use cheddar cheese, however it didnt have all of the filler that other mexican restaurants put in, it was just straight cheese. The guacamole was excellent. It is easy to see why they won the best margarita in Houston, a little expensive but delicious. I will be back again and again.

MY REVIEW: Great Mexican food. I had the Sunset style fajitas and it was worth it! My husband had the staek with mole sauce (which I had to take a taste of). The food was great and service was pleasant. It was a nice casual enviroment. I recommend this place for anyone who wants to have really delicious Mexican food.

MY REVIEW: this was a truly awful meal. ordered tacos al carbon. might as well asked for shoe leather wrapped in cardboard and hold the seasonings. how can a mexican restaurant not know how to cook fajita meat? i'll never even look at this place again, much less step foot in it...

MY REVIEW: I really enjoyed my visit to Mi Cocina. I ound the drinks to be excellent(if a little on the expensive side) the food to be phenominal and the sevice to be way above par. Given the amount of dirty mexican restaurants with mediocre food and substandard service it was nice to dine somewhere that the guests are still important. It makes a great change from its competitors at Esc*alante and C*iclone.
