MY REVIEW: Strong points,
Hmm it is very close to where I live (2 blocks)
Easy to get in and out of

Weak Points
It is over priced for the quality of the food, and service.

When they first opened they were a much better over all experience. The food was better, the wait staff was better. Mike the bartender used to be a waiter and was great. Currently they are not the best Tex Mex place in the area, but they are okay.

MY REVIEW: Strong points: The seafood enchiladas are excellent. In fact, most of the food is certainly good.

Having said that, I wouldn't go again. I've ordered at the bar there twice now and left after 20 minutes and the drink isn't delivered and the food isn't even entered into the sytem. - And that's after waiting 10-15 minutes just to get the bartender's attention. Why would anybody put up with that?

I understand what it's like to be "in the weeds" in the service industry, but this place is consistently like that. The food is overpriced, too crowded, ghetto crowd, too noisy, parking's a mess - it's just not worth it with all the great Mexican joints as little as 5-10 minutes away. But hey - if you want to see everything that killed Dowtown nightlife - this is a great case study.

I think this is a great place to visit. - At two o'clock on a Tuesday afternoon. Other than that, it's just not worth the hassle.

MY REVIEW: To sum up the Midtown Cyclone is easy.
Expensive
Weak drinks
HORRIBLE Service
Mediocre Tex Mex
Expensive
HORRIBLE Service
Lots of Eye Candy

My girlfriend ordered quesadillas and wanted more pico de gallo and some jalapenos. They CHARGED us $3.00 for the pico and $1 for the jalapenos. Guacamole is $4 for maybe a 1/4 cup serving. Let me just say this... 2 orders of quesadillas, 2 drinks FOR FIFTY (that's 50) DOLLARS. WHAT!?!??

If money is no object, you're not planning on eating and you just want to meet people of the opposite sex - this is the place for you. Otherwise, save your money and go somewhere else.

MY REVIEW: My boyfriend and I love this place! We live in Austin so anytime we are in Houston we have to stop by there to eat. You can usually get a table pretty quickly even on a friday or saturday night. It can sometimes be a little noisy but the food more than makes up for it. We get the same thing everytime we go there....the jumbo margaritas with ceviche and lobster enchiladas. The ceviche is so good!!! If anyone knows the recipe for their ceviche I would love to get it so that I can try to make it at home. I wish we had one in Austin!!

MY REVIEW: Strong Points: food was good and reasonably prices.

Weak Points: HOT, HOT, HOT, it was extremely hot in the restaurant. The thermostat read 80 degrees inside. It was cooler to sit outside. It was so hot, my ice melted in my water within 10 minutes. They do not accept reservations Thursday - Sunday. The wait was about 50 minutes. Margaritas - no good and expensive ($13).

***Make sure you cell phone is charged and you get a signal - this is how they call you when your table is ready...we found that a bit strange!

MY REVIEW: If you are looking to eat at a restaurant with a bunch of friends before going out in Midtown, then you will like it. Otherwise, you wont.

The food is overpriced, but tastey. The service was awful. It took forever to more water, more drinks, the check, our order, and virtually everything else. It is very loud and you have to speak up for other people at the table to hear you. The margaritas arent worth it; they are overpriced and not very good. The crowd was very cheesy. There was definitely not a lack of hair product among this restaurant's clientele.

MY REVIEW: Resistant to going here at all, I was first dragged by some friends who had not had the experience of Cyclone Anaya's before its re-invention. The old one was perhaps a step above El F*enix or F*elix's, the new one a delightful surprise. It was a Sunday night, and we had great service, very good drinks, and some outstanding Mexican food.

Then came my re-visit this past Friday night. Too many people, too loud, and not enough attention to service. Our food waitress, once we were seated, was very good. I liked the bartender's attitude, but if I am paying $10 for a large Margarita, I want it to taste like something other than faintly lime-flavored water. After we got our food--- which I still love--- I ordered a small frozen Margarita, which was even worse, like a very bad lime sour with no alcohol.

It's such a shame when the bar and the kitchen don't match. I would go back on a slower night and order beer with the food, but I would never order another Margarita here. And when I want good food AND a good drink, I'll go elsewhere.

MY REVIEW: The last few times I have gone to this restaurant, the service has not been very good. This last time we *attempted* to eat dinner (which was for my birthday), we were seated outside (next to a group of the loudest and most obnoxious people ever)...and then promply ignored for the rest of the time we were there. The only person who ever came by our table was the person who brings the chips...we were there for about 15 minutes and no one even came by to get our drink orders. This was amazing since there were several waiters who walked right past our table and didn't seem to notice (or care) that we were there. After 15 minutes, we got up and went to celebrate my birthday elsewhere. Previous trips to Cyclone's had garnered less than attentive service but this time was the absolute worst and I don't know that I will ever be back. There are too many other nice Mexican restaurants in the area with better customer services...For the prices they charge, you would expect Cyclone's to be a little more attentive to their customers...it's really quite a shame...

MY REVIEW: Strong point location, great bar staff they try REALLY hard. Weak points I have been here on two seperate occasions once for a birthday celebration the food was ok nothing really spectacular, the service that night was ok at best. My last visit was last night, granted it was Saturday night and EVERYONE who was ANYONE was there, blah, blah, blah. We were seated fairly quickly on the paito. It was a nice night. The waiter we got was not very good, or happy or attentive and when we got the wrong order he was VERY angry at us and rolled his eyes. Not the way to wait tables, I know it is a difficult job, been there done that, and it was busy. Then the food came it was ok. Nothing to write home about my drink was "the Wave" warning if you are allergic to cheap tequila do NOT do the frozen drinks. I was not feeling very good after 3 sips but drank it ANYWAY because we had already returned our food. Then when we got the check we were still charged for the incorrect order. Not at all cool so we asked to see the Manager. He was apologetic but stood by his waiter. Then another waiter stepped up to plate and a kuddos goes to him for just getting our check and getting it accurate. I was ready to get out of there at that point but the eye-rolling waiter decided to pay us a visit before we left. He told us it was busy, (granted it was), he said he had lot's of tables, (he did), but we said it was the eye roll that got us. Then he said "Listen I really don't need this tonight." Then he and one of our friends exchanged some heated words in spanish, then we left. I later learned she had told him she guessed he did not need a tip either. I can't say I will ever really want to go back to Cyclone A.

MY REVIEW: I have visited during lunch, dinner, and brunch. I have sat outside and inside.

Strong points:
1) Ceviche
2) Service - (most of the time)

Weak points:
1) Extremely loud inside. Don't expect to carry on a conversation.
2) Margaritas - $9 for regular, $14 for a large....are you kidding me???
3) Chips and salsa - weak, very weak
4) Entrees - the various entrees I have tried have been overly priced and mediocre in taste.

MY REVIEW: On the previous reviews everyone fails to mention the time they have visted the establishments. I can only speak for the location on 309 Gray St. I've have frequent this establishment on lunch dates, dinner dates and even happy hour many of times.

If you guys have plan to go during lunch time, plan to get there early for good seats. The food is superb! and I know food, good food! specially mexican food! Not "American Version" of mexican food, This is pretty close to home-made! The entrees served there all get a perfect "10" with two thumbs up! To anyone who plan to venture out to this establishment for lunch, try to be there at 11:30 am, the place will pack out quickly! Whether it be lunch, dinner or happy hour, you need to beat the peak (time)! Good luck and enjoy fabulous food and an excellent ambiance!

MY REVIEW: Nobody knows my name... and I dine there FAR to often. Due to my proximity at both work and home I am constantly dragged to this complete failure of a restaurant. The food use to be the saving grace to the atrocious service, but even that is in decline now. I befriended a bartender and found out that the service lacks so much due to a total lack of "teamwork" She said that "everyone works here like they are contractors, as little interaction as possible" WHERE IS THE MANAGEMENT?

I feel like this is an uphill battle because midtown visitors will always come running in with midtown stars in their eyes looking to buy overpriced food served by arrogant and mindless waiters.

PROTIP: Ceviche is good though... and they dont have to cook it so it should come out within the first hour.

MY REVIEW: Don't waste your money. Visited there three times on a recommendation. The first time the food was good but the service was the worst. Second time the service was "not bad" and the food was "fair." The last time we waited and both the service and food was not wonderful. The food is overpriced or to say it another way the portions are way to small for the price. I give a restaurant a few times before I stop and I'm stopping. They need to get their act together - there are many more Great Mexican restaurants in town.

MY REVIEW: 1st service was great and food was just okay. The second time the food was excellent and service was equally as good. The third time, the food was great, but I don't think that our server knew we were seated and the server who was serving the tables around us wasn't kind enough to pass the information along. Once she came and took our drink order and asked for our food order as well. She dropped both off and literally disappeared only to show up when we were done dining and ready for the check. I suppose it's all depends on the luck of the draw! Hopefully, they will find a way to have both great food and excellent service, or are we asking for too much?

MY REVIEW: Strong Points: The food is (and was on 12/23) VERY good. Weak Points: The quality of the service is continuing to decline - to the point that now I'll probably NOT return. On 12/23, it took over an hour and a half for the food to be served - then one of five entrees was missing, and one other entree was not what was ordered. It took another 15 minutes for that entree to arrive at the table. It appears the wait staff is without adequate supervision. Even though I specifically asked to speak with the manager, no one ever arrived at our table. Service was so bad, I left "zero" tip that night. Too bad, I liked the restaurant since they opened - but cannot handle the poor (and indifferent) service.

MY REVIEW: Strong points=best margaritas bar none; weak points=staff socialized so much w/ each other, I went to the bar to get our drinks for dinner; salsa was bad, but their queso was THE best as was the food. Only saw waiter 3 times: order -took 15 mins to do that, drop off food & drop off of check. Food & drinks good, but someone needs to hire some people who want to work NOT socialize all night. Even the valet attendants were not to be found, so I parked the car myself.

MY REVIEW: THIS PLACE SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COST!

I clicked "Everyone knows my name..." as there is no option for 20+ times. I have been going there for about a year now. Having said that there is some MAJOR problems with this restaurant. When I first started going there was great food and margaritas and its very close to my office and home. THE SERVICE IS HORRIBLE! It has steadily declined to the point of being almost non existent. I was just there and not only did I order my drink 3 times, they didn't arrive until the food did! My glass was DIRTY, not smudged but had lettuce floating in it. I have noticed the patronage there has been steadily declining. I cant say anything good about the floor staff... the kitchen is fast and I appreciate that.

I truly wish someone with authority there would read this and send a secret shopper to the restaurant. PLEASE look at how awful your staff is. I feel bad for the women I saw who brought some foreign business partners in and spent the whole time looking for her waiter, who stopped by a total of 2 times (drop off the food, and drop off the check). She spent the rest of the time apologizing to her guest.

Your restaurant is a terrible waste of potential. I hope you don't just read this and disregard it.

MY REVIEW: Nice bar for watching games and good quaity margaritas. This chips and salsa leave something to be desired and the prices seem steep even comapred to P*appasitos. Staff is attentive but seem to spend far to much time socializing with each other, so hovering is definitely not an issue. Food quality is okay and the location is convienent and not hard to get a table even on a Friday evening. Woth a try but there are better places in our great city.

MY REVIEW: Cyclone Anaya's was recommended to me by a relative. My husband and I dined there for our birthdays last month. The food was delicious and the margaritas were to die for!!! The only complaint I have is my fajitas were brought out on a plate and not a steaming platter. They were still delicious though. The atmosphere is rather loud but the food and drinks are so good, who needs to talk?? We will return there again.

MY REVIEW: I have loved this place since I started going there when the astros were in the world series. great bar to watch games at. food is awesome and I love that they have a good wine list....With ALL that said...I am HUGELY dissappointed that they have taken the Ceviche off the menu?! What?! That was one of the main reason I went, it was fab and one of the lowest calorie items on menu. I will not quit going but will probably reduce the number of time by 75%. The interier decor is a warm stacked stone with ambiance lighting. We tried several genre of Mexican food and all were pleasing. The customers are noisy but the atmosphere was such that it seemed to add to the experience.
