MY REVIEW: I love this place. I love the food, the atmosphere, and the creepyness (is that a word?) It has such an old type feel and the wait staff and owners are really down to earth! I took my dad here for his 50th birthday and he loved it and I am going there tomorrow for my 23rd birthday and we are food snobs and this place is tops!!! I couldnt ask for better prices, servings are big and they taste yummy! GO TO THIS RESTAURANT! You will love it!

MY REVIEW: We were strolling the Strand recently, and we came across Bistro LeCroy. The menu looked good and the place looked really nice, so we decided to stop. I wish we would have kept going.
I am shocked to read the positive reviews of this place. It was one of the worst meals I've ever had, and I am by no means a food snob. Perhaps it was a new chef's first day?
First we were required to wait about 10 minutes for the waiter to come take our order. I ordered a combination plate of stuffed shrimp and fried catfish. The stuffing on the shrimp was extremely soggy. The catfish was actually pretty good, and the only thing I enjoyed. My side order of fried okra was completely bland, and the green beans were okay. B*lack*eyed*Pea makes better okra than this. My husband had a bowl of the crawfish etouffee, and it tasted like chili.
It's too bad that the food was so poor here, because the ambiance of the place is really nice.

MY REVIEW: We went over the weekend for our Anniversary; we wanted to try this new place our daughter found on the web. The atmosphere was very charming, very informal and cozy. We had the crawfish pie and beer batter onion rings for appetizers they were served Hot and were seasoned very well. Our entrees ranged from crab cakes, stuffed shrimp to fish all were seasoned very well, presentation was good and most important We didn't have a long wait for our meals, and the staff was Super. We visit Galveston often and this Bistro is on our MUST Visit Again list. A Big Thank You to the Staff for making this a very Special Day. We Will Be Back!! We are recommending this place to friends and family.

MY REVIEW: We went to Bistro LeCroy with two friends before a play at The Grand. We called for reservations the day before and the lady could not have been nicer. We got there and there were just a couple of groups eating but our table was all ready set and waiting for us. We tried several appetizers, crab cakes, cheese sticks and crawfish pies, all were wonderful. Our en tree's ranged from blackened snapper, fettuccine, to etouffee, again all outstanding. The service was great. Bottom line, we will be back again. If you need a place to eat before a play, go a few blocks down to the Strand and try this place. You will not be disappointed.

MY REVIEW: We had lunch this weekend at Bistro LeCroy and next time we're in Galveston we'll be back! My friend and I split an appetizer (seafood platter) and the crawfish pies. It was served hot and more than both of us could eat. I am not a fan of fried food, but this was so light- it was really enjoyable. As soon as we entered, we were greeted like old friends and the ambience of the place is quite charming. Give it a try!

MY REVIEW: This place is a favorite. We've never had a bad meal there. The shrimp platter has a great combination of favorites. Their NOLA shrimp and coconut shrimp are my favorites. On our latest visit I tried the catfish and it was good, too. We've got there alone and with large groups and always came away satisfied.
When you compare their food and prices to a certain chain place nearby, there is no comparison. Bistro LeCroy is the best. They may be in a tourist place but I never feel like a tourist when I eat there. I feel like a guest.

MY REVIEW: YUMMY!! We strolled into Bistro LeCroy not really sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised by the friendly greetings, relaxed atmosphere, wonderful service and excellent food! The portion sizes were more than ample. In fact, we could not finish the food that was on our plates - had to get a "to go" box.
Their prices are not any higher than some of the more popular restaurants along the Seawall. We will be back! Treat yourself to something very special and have a meal at Bistro LeCroy. We would not recommend it had our dining experience not been as wonderful as it was. We are a bit hard to please, so Bistro Lecroy really delivered and deserves high praise. Kudos to the owners, chef and wait staff. Keep up the good work.

MY REVIEW: Lecroy's is our favorite restaurant in Galveston. We've tried many items on the menu and haven't been disappointed yet. The service is quick and attentive, and prices are reasonable. The owners are very friendly and want to make sure that you're happy. We were even there (accidentally) during the Lone Star Bike Rally with tens of thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts, and despite the crazy atmosphere, we still had a top-notch dining experience. Don't go to the overpriced restaurants on the Seawall! Head straight for the Strand and eat at Bistro Lecroy.

MY REVIEW: I am a new UTMB employee who thought it would be a cool adventure to try out a trolley ride to the Strand and grab a quick bite on my lunch hour. Key emphasis on the word "hour." I stopped at Bistro LeCroy and ordered one of its daily specials which was red beans & rice thinking it would be an expeditious meal as it simply required ladling and warming ... not to mention, it was a daily special. I asked if this came with bread and was told that it did. I also asked if I could get cheese added and was told that I could.
A little after an entire hour passed, I received a bowl of lukewarm red beans & rice, minus the cheese and bread. Another table of UTMB employees left just before my meal arrived and complained that their entrees took over 45 minutes to arrive. I did inhale my food because both it and I were very LATE; however, the hostess, aware of my dissatisfaction with the tardiness of my meal, still felt compelled to make me wait even longer for the check. I finally got disgusted when the trolley came first, tucked what I owed under my plate, and caught the trolley back to work.
It is beyond my comphrehension why something as simple to prepare and present as red beans & rice for one person could take over an hour to execute ... even then, it was nearly cold and not complete. It is obvious that these folks are courting UTMB patrons or they wouldn't be comping drinks to same. I suspect LeCroy will attract more repeat UTMB business by simply getting folks in and out in LESS than an hour as most are arriving by public transit in fifteen minute intervals (as opposed to an hour and a half).
Additionally, no effort was exhibited to comp the meal or a dessert for my inconvenience ... just continual references to how unbelieveably crazy the kitchen was. I seriously doubt the crazy kitchen kept my check from arriving in a timely manner.
This place is quite quaint and sports an impressive menu; however, the quality of service is unacceptable if you are a working person with a schedule to keep.

MY REVIEW: This is the best place for lunch on the strand. There dinner prices are a bit high but the lunch specials are just right, and if you are a UTMB employee or student you get free sodas with lunch.

MY REVIEW: My wife and i visited Bistro Lecroy this weekend, and i was quite dissapointed. The food was quite expensive andi feel was not worth the high price. My wife had catfish, and i had cocanut shrimp. The sides were okay, but the shrimp tasted like the frozen kind and just reheated from sams club. My wife is not a very good cook, but i feel i could have had that at home. The service was a little rusty, but the decor was all right.

MY REVIEW: This is a great place to have a wonderful meal. Tommy and Chris do a wonderful job of making there customers feel relaxed(they are the owners). I have to say the Bistro is our favorite place in Galveston to frequent for bruch, dinner or a cold beer. The food is great and the portions are perfect. Go and try the sunday brunch, it is awesome. When you walk in to this place you forget you are in a resturaunt it is so relaxed, the service is very very good. We have nothing but great dinners and brunches at the Bistro. I highly recommend Lecroy Bistro. Just tell Tommy- Zane and Kelly sent you.

MY REVIEW: We ate at LeCroys on a weeknight before 7pm. It is along the strand in Galveston.
We ordered combo plates: my wife had the catfish and shrimp, while I ordered a trio plate with catfish, popcorn shrimp, and oysters. We also ordered the stuffed jalapenos and two beers.
The wait staff was attentive and brought everything out at the appropriate times. The jalapenos were wonderful. They contained a nice seafood stuffing that cut the edge of their spicy wrapper.
The entrees were hot and portions were ample. I was a little disappointed with the popcorn shrimp. They were overcooked and seemed out of place with the catfish and oysters. This dish would be greatly improved by substituting the popcorn shrimp with the the regular fried shrimp. The catfish on both of our plates was cooked properly and had a wonderful flavor. I especially enjoyed the oysters. The shrimp on my wife’s plate were large and flavorful. Everything had a nice dusting of cajun flavor. The cocktail and tartar sauces were excellent.
Pros: service, food, ample street parking.
Cons: popcorn shrimp.
