The Nook

MY REVIEW: After hearing so many rave reviews about The Nook, we decided to check it out. It's a tiny little place in the parking lot of Tomball's Arts & Crafts. Since we came in around 9:30am, we found people waiting to get in, as expected for a popular place. About 20 minutes later, we got a seat in the back. The service was great, and as I looked around, I could see that the waitstaff knew a lot of the customers by name. Everything was fast and our waitress was really nice. Unfortunately, we didn't care for the food. My husband got the chopped steak, and he said that it tasted like something that had originally came frozen. I had the pancakes, and they were sort of flavorless and chewy (not the melt-in-your-mouth quality that I've found at places like 5*9 Diner, House of P*ies, or even D*ennys and I*HOP). We both had hash browns as a side, and they were soggy and the outside was tough and not crispy at all. Too bad--I liked everything else about the place!

MY REVIEW: The Nook is one of "the places" for the Tomball locals. Real diner atmosphere with great breakfasts and lunches. The chicken cordon bleu and chicken fried steak sandwiches are highly recommended along with the just basic breaksfasts.

Closes around 2 PM. Mom, and her son and daughter will make you feel right at home as they come around and refill your cup of coffee.

This place can get crowded on a Saturday morning. Be prepared to wait outside for a seat.

MY REVIEW: The Nook is a small family restraunt with friendly wait staff and good food. They specialize in lunch and breakfast. The Ruben sandwitch is especially good. The Cobler is a must.
