MY REVIEW: I would recomend this place to my gal pals and my buddies. The staff was attentive to detail, and very personable. The food was delicious, I recommend the Chicken Tika Indian dish, incredibly authentic. Drink orders were accurate and the bartender was very accomodating to making different martinis. I will definitely return to this pub...Great for a girls night out! or a date!

MY REVIEW: Nice pub atmosphere. This was my first visit and I was pleasantly suprised to find out that Wednesday is Curry and A Pint night. They had 5 different curries to choose from. The lamb curry was great! The place was hopping. I will definitely return.

MY REVIEW: I brought my family for Christmas dinner, never having eaten there before. All of my anxiety was for naught! It was a WONDERFUL meal, great atmosphere, fantastic service! I couldn't have asked for more. And I couldn't believe the price! I am looking foreward to going there again. My b/f is from England and I especially wanted to give him a little taste of home for Christmas, and it exceded our expectations. SUrprisingly, we went mid-afternoon and there were no lines. We were seated immediately.
We all had the traditional turkey dinner and the only item that might need a little adjustment was the dressing, The sage tasted a bit strong, but my b/f said that was authentic, their dressing tends to be sagier than ours.
I have driven by this place for years, the outside looks a little rundown, so I never tried it.

MY REVIEW: Great fireplace atmosphere! Food was very good...the Burgers Rock as well as the Chicken Satay appetizer we tried. Service was very friendly and the manager even walked by to say hi. My girlfriends and I will definitely return to try more. The Martini's we had were delicious!

MY REVIEW: Food's still okay, quality/quantity has been on decline lately (esp. the roast beast special on Sunday: thinner slices, more gristle, more cheap starches).
They've survived a good while on a site that has seemed to be accursed; about six lessees in the five years before them.
Good assortment of malt beverages, reasonable pricing. Service spotty, got contumely from barkeep last visit, won't be back.

MY REVIEW: Excellent pub/diner/bar.
Thursday nights are steak nights, and the steaks here are divine.
They recently expanded their menu to include more delectable delights...

MY REVIEW: This is a wonderful place! Food was great, ambiance was cozy yet elegant, service was superb. The staff was extremely knowledgeable about the food and they were wonderfully pleasant to the customers.
I think they should be known for their wide variety of beers and their fish and chips. But the most memorable part was meeting the owner. He was very friendly, courteous, and he made sure that your visit was pleasing.
He'll do whatever he can to make sure that you come back to the Red Lion. I will definitely come back to pay another visit soon.

MY REVIEW: What a wonderful discovery! We've been visiting Houston for years and never knew the place existed. My husband and I are huge fans of authentic-type pubs, and this place is the real deal. The beers are lovely, the food is fantastic, the atmosphere is charming. I only wish we lived closer to Houston. We'd easily become regulars.
My husband and I shared fish and chips and the shepherd's pie and both were fantastic! The fries were some of the best homemade fries I've ever tasted. Both dishes came with a side of peas. Yum!
They also have some fantastic deals during the week like curry and pint night---a curry and a pint for $12, cheeseburger night on Mondays for $5 and all-day happy hour on Sunday.
We will certainly be back!

MY REVIEW: I have always wanted to try out this quaint little spot. Last night my girlfriend and I decided to walk in and had an absolutely great time. I would say that it has to be the most authentic English pub I have ever seen. It doesnt falter like B*ker's Street (AKA Fakers Street). The service was second to none. Its not everyday your waitress at a British Pub has a British accent. Very Cool. We had some mini burgers and fish and chips. Enormous portions of delicious food. I had my favorite beer, Stella Artois, which was served in its traditional glass. The bill was quite reasonable, and the ambiance more than memorable. Ill be considered a regular by this time next month. Thanks Red Lion!

MY REVIEW: Nice surpirse! Finally made it inside with a friend on girl's nite out and was thrilled with the bites, martini's and service. Super bathrooms, clean and nice decor... you can tell the owners "care" about customers!! Definite favorite.

MY REVIEW: The Red Lion has easily become the "local" for my friends and I. The curries rival any of the good Indian restaurants in Houston, and the chicken tandoori quesadillas are a novel approach! The occasional new addition to the menu keeps it fresh! Even though this is a "pub", they have an excellent selection of red wines. The service is good, the ambience is cozy (particularly in winter when there is a real wood fire burning in the fireplace), and in spring and fall, the outside patio is extremely comfortable. I steer a lot of people in the general direction of the Red Lion with certainty that they will be treated quite well!

MY REVIEW: Great British bites and perfectly potable pints reign at THE RED LION, a River Oaks/Montrose crown jewel. Absolutely affordable and overly ample specials are offered each night. Regularly these repasts range from "Tradit Brit" - fish & chips, Scotch eggs, Cornish pasties, shepherd’s pie - to curries, poppadums, steaks and all their fabulous fixin’s. Superior Scotches abound as well as maestro martinis, not to mention all those beverages "in between" . Served up with good nibbles, good company and good surroundings...My Goodness - Who could ask for anything more? Needless to say , THE RED LION, aka: The English: " is always the likely location for our relaxation .

MY REVIEW: I can't believe how good the duck is here. And so inexpensive. Served with garlic mash potatoes and french green beans, all cooked impeccably. I have paid $30 for this at other restaurants and it wasn't half as good as Red Lion. We are moving back to New Orleans and will miss this place very much. We went 3 times in 2 weeks just for the duck! Fish and chips also great. Thanks Red Lion.

MY REVIEW: This place is something special. I was pleasantly suprised when the bartender remembered my name and what I had ordered during my last visit! The food is fantastic and the atmosphere is warm and friendly thanks to the glowing fireplace in the back. Also, the bathrooms deserve an honorable mention.

MY REVIEW: Having just left another Texans loss, we went to our Favourite Pub the Red Lion. As always this place was bustling and welcoming. Friends, ambiance and great food are always here, especially nice with the fireplace blazing away!!
We just about LOVE all the food here, but today we opted for the Roast Beef & Yorkshire pudding...and oh what a treat it was! With a lovely glass of red wine ( I forget which but then again they have so many to choose from) and followed by their chocolate torte (house made and to die for!)....we soon forgot the Texans and enjoyed the rest of our sunday!....please if you've never gone to the Red Lion, then you're missing out on a real treat!!!
Seeya there!

MY REVIEW: Since we were in no mood for turkey we decided to try one of the few places open for thanksgiving. The service was terrible, forgotten silverware, salad dressing spilled on one person in our party, charged for a beer we didn't order. The food was a mixed bag, the sheperd's pie was OK, fish and chips were great, filet mignon was par, chicken tikka masala, they don't have a clue. I thought the brits were up on their curries. We would not go back.

MY REVIEW: I love the place. It has great food, great drink and the service is supurbe. The best part is that the atmosphere lends to good conversation and laughs between friends and folks you meet there. It is the best true Pub in Houston. The Cornish pastie is to die for.

MY REVIEW: Delicious fish and chips. Went for lunch. Sat near the fireplace.. perfect on a chilly day like today. Cozy feel and great service. A suggestion on the ordering.. trying splitting a full order at lunch the portions are huge.

MY REVIEW: Our dinner club Eight Friends Out went to the Red Lion for a beer tasting and dinner several nights in a row. We have done the pub food thing before elsewhere without good results, so I am glad we decided to try Red Lion. There was a great selection with huge portions--I had the fish n' chips, classic pub fare, and it was fresh, crispy, and delightful. Everybody in the club enjoyed their entrees right on through to dessert. Obviously, the beer was fabulous.
And I do have to say this, while the seating arrangements were a challenge (we had 22 people each night), the wait staff was awesome! They bent over backwards for us, and with that many people in addition to a full house in the pub, they did an incredible job. I was impressed!

MY REVIEW: I appreciate the quality and service at this pub. The food is not frozen wings and fried bag items like most local pubs. These guys make an effort and it may cost a bit more but my friends and I agree it is definitely worth it. The burgers are made with locally baked "Sheila Partian" Sourdough buns, I know because I use to buy at Rice when she sold them retail. They are wonderful and not cheap! Monday's are burger night and it is a treat for $5...along with the $4 martinis. Keep up the good work guys....lots of us out here love you!

MY REVIEW: I have to say well done. Finally someone who cares to show what a real pub is all about. Good food, true pints 20oz not US 16oz and nice people. I am new to Houston and felt very welcome. The owner even introduced me to some other people at the bar. This feels like home.

MY REVIEW: A little bit of home away from home! The idea of Yorkshireman Craig Mallinson, the Red Lion is the epitome of the English Pub - charming and comfortable, furnished with wood paneling and cozy booths, and the fireplace is very welcome on those few chilly evenings in Houston. It has a full bar, with over 40 single-malt Scotches, to complement the more than 20 beers on-tap, and a food menu that offers a great selection of British pub favourites. The sausage rolls are delicious, as is the Onion Bhaji appetizer, and the Shepherd’s Pie here is made with lamb, not beef like many other establishments. All food is made from scratch!. The fish and chips are the best in Texas, if not the USA, certainly surpassing the mediocre quality of the fish and chips my wife and I recently 'endured' in Stratford-Upon-Avon. The latest addition of a lamb balti and a chicken balti to the menu is a pleasant taste-adventure on Wednesdays.
