MY REVIEW: I am Polish from the Detroit, Michigan region. The food at Polania is superb, and as close my babcia's (grandma's) cooking as can be found anywhere. Took friends there who are native Texans who never had Polish food before and they were blown away at how much they liked it!
Highly recommend!

MY REVIEW: Very clean and welcoming. I loved how they had the Polish tv channel on. We went around 5pm on a Thursday evening, and there wasn't anyone there. The waitress was very nice and helpful. The combination platter could of fed four or five people, even though it says it's for two. The herring covered in sour cream and ounion was very fishy tasting and salty. My mom loved the herring. We also went into the store next door where you could buy the perogies that they serve at the restaurant. We had a lovely time and will most likey be returning.

MY REVIEW: My husband & I have visited the Polonia twice. I am a Pole, and since my mom has passed I haven't had any "real" Polish food. When we found this place, it really put a smile on my face. It's a warm and clean place. The food is hot and very good! We took our friends there the other day and they loved it! I had the stuffed cabbage and enjoyed them. Two huge rolls with two scoops of mashed potatoes, plus a small bowl of soup and wonderful rye bread! Had enough for us to have supper the next day. We highly recommend this place and the grocery store next door too. You can buy a lot of things there that I can't find unless I go up to Connecticut for a visit. I'm glad they are here. Wish there were more of them in the city.

MY REVIEW: My wife and I went to Polonia this past Saturday for the first time. Wonderful authentic Polish food and great atmosphere. Although you cannot tell this from the parking lot, the inside is nicely decorated with great romantic atmosphere. They have a giant screen TV which was playing a DVD concert of Andrea Boccelli (sp?) which is unheard of in Houston that I have seen so far. We got the Combination Dinner for Two so that we could sample everything, it was great food!,and now we know what we like best and will get on our next visit. The wait staff was wonderful also. Polonia's is quite a ways from old Katy, but worth the drive and inconvenience of freeway construction on I-10. We will be going back quite often.

MY REVIEW: Food was great and reasonably priced. My wife and I really enjoyed our dinner. Outside doesn't look that great, but on the inside it is very nice and cozy place! Golabki (not sure spelling) were really delicious! They provide fresh European-style bread when we sat down. We also visited Polish store adjacent to restaraunt. We'll definitely come back soon!

MY REVIEW: The food was good, and the place is nicely decorated. The only complaint was that the waitress was very very slow in refilling our drink... We were very thirsty and waited and waited, and finally had to ask for her to refill our drinks, and when we did, she looked at us funny like 'why would you want that'. I am guessing this is a European culture thing??? Anyway, but yes the food was good.

MY REVIEW: Friendly restaurant, pleasant surroundings with Polish TV.My husband and I are from Poland and we found the mushroom soup was tasty, but a bit watery. The pierogi were very good, sauerkraut and mushrooms, or potato, were excellent. The potato pancake with meat stew was delicious. Plentiful portions, can share many dishes. Also ordered potato dumplings called kluskes. Didn't enjoy these. The kluskes we make have more potato taste and are better fried with onions than the thin gravy. These tasted only of flour. Pork alert! Many of the dishes have pork, including the cabbage rolls. The cheesecake tasted of freezer, but the sponge cake with whipped cream was wonderful.
Will return and try different items. The blintzes sound delicious.

MY REVIEW: Oh my God, this place kicks butt, loin, shoulder and ham! And so does their market next door. It's a godsend coming from Chicago, and sometimes wondering 'where's the beef? where's the pork?'.
Try the cold cut platter which sounds so balnd, until you've tried the smoky, variously spiced flavors, served with real rye and mustard and horseradish. Do it with a Pilsner Urquell on draft and you'll improve your outlook tenfold!
Potato pancakes are great and the pork shank is for big guys or to share with a friend, or take home, as I did. Even the soups are remarkable: tart dill-infused pickle soup, a sauer-kraut soup that worked wonders on my hangover, and something I'd never tried before ala Polska: tripe soup. Yum.
After my meal, we bought sausages from the deli next door for restaurant-owner friends. Samll ones to snack on, heftier ones full of woodsmoke to braise with potato and veggies, and a 'wedding sausage' to grill. All of these make you wonder why you ever thought Eckrich Polska Kielbasa was good stuff. Fewer fillers, more flavor, and the experience of getting real butcher stuff...trust me, your horizons will be expanded. Bonus points: go Saturday and Sunday to find fresh ponchki (spelling wrong, recipe for fruit donuts all right.

MY REVIEW: When we went there first time (about a year ago) we were delighted. We loved it. The next time when we went there wasn't a pleasurable experience. My friends and I had a cold, definitely not fresh, food. I think they used the fact that about 10 people came at once and they wanted to clean the fridge.
The next time after that - we loved it again. We will go there again. Susan

MY REVIEW: Wow!! We love Polonia! Found it about 3 years ago and try to get back every 3-4 months to the Deli next door to stock my freezer with fresh kielbasa and pierogis. And, when we go to the deli we can't pass up an excellent Polish meal at Polonia. Did you know that "Polonia" means a Polish person who lives outside of Poland! At any rate, we love the stuffed cabbage, the pierogis, the chicken and dumpling soup, all of it is so much like growing up with my Grandmother who was born a year after her parents came over from Poland. Finding Polonia is a bit like going home for me! I've never found the service or the food to be anything but excellent!

MY REVIEW: The service at this restaurant was the worst that I have ever been subjected to. In fact, there was no service. Although we had reservations, no one came up to us when we came in, and, after standing at the door for several minutes, we had to find an empty table (fortunately most tables were empty) and sat ourselves. Although a waitress passed by our table at least 3 or 4 times after we sat down, she never acknowledged or presence, even when all of us, a family of five, tried to flag her down. After waiting for anyone to come up to us for over 10 (!!!!) minutes, we left. Obviously, we are never coming back and do not recommed this restaurant to anyone.

MY REVIEW: Food was good and plenty of it. Lots of variety for our group (eleven of us). Time constraints was a problem, we were there thirty minutes before our orders were taken and it took us two hours to get out - not good for people who are on a lunch break. We will all go back but will have to push them a bit if it's during the day.

MY REVIEW: Wanted something different, and stumbled across Polish on the web site. We had Polish neighbors where we lived before moving here and had enjoyed their gnochi, etc and decided to give this a try. We weren't disappointed -- very authentic (as much Polish as English was being spoken in the restaurant). It's great value for money, good service, and authentic ambience. Definitely a good bet for something a bit different than the normal fare in Houston.

MY REVIEW: Wonderful restaurant, beautifully decorated, great atmosphere, very very nice staff, and the food was absolutely amazing! My husband, my daughter, and I decided to try this restaurant because of the rave reviews here. I am soooo glad we did! My husband and I shared a combination plate and we were too stuffed to finish it all. Our 5 year old had a half portion of the delicious cabbage rolls and loved it! She asked if we can come every Sunday from now on. My husband said he will have to get the combo plate every time we go so he won't have to choose between all of those fabulous dishes!

MY REVIEW: This was our first authenic Polish food and we enjoyed the experience. The service was friendly and our server recommended several entrees for us. My husband had the pork cutlet with mushrooms which was wonderful - very crisp on the outside. I had the baked pork which was good but I would probably have the cutlet next time. We had the chicken dumpling soup which was rich and good. We also sampled the cheesecake which was a treat. It is not like what most of us think cheesecake should be because the texture is grainy and it is not too sweet. We will return!

MY REVIEW: I know nothing about Poland but I absolutely adored the interiors at Polonia.
I had the Chicken Soup with Dumplings + Meat & SauerKraut Pierogi. Quite filling for one. Very original taste. Asians would like Pierogis as they are similar to Momos in the chinese cuisine. Kinda like boiled wontons instead of fried ones. I give this restaurant 10/10 and intend to go there plenty more times in the future.

MY REVIEW: After reading the reviews here, my wife and I decided to take her parents while they were in town. The door opens to a cozy dining area with a bar at the back right. Beautiful oil paintings adorn the walls, some of which are for sale. The waitress was terrific in her service, and quite friendly. I had the pork meat loaf, which was delicious, my wife enjoyed the pierogis, while my inlaws had the cabbage rolls and the kielbasa. Everything tasted terrific, and filled us all with enough left over for a dinner in the evening. We will certainly be back.

MY REVIEW: I've been craving the potato pancakes with goulash ever since I had them the first time. My husband loved the pirogues. The sauerkraut is a little sweet and I preferred it to American-style. On the first trip I wasn't a convert to having the schmaltz (lard and bacon) on my bread, but this time our Polish friend put some paprika and pepper on it, and it grew on me. The borscht is delicious. Wait staff both times was warm and friendly.

MY REVIEW: The soup was very good. We had perogi, the stuffed cabbage, sourcrout and polish sausage. All were very bland and disappointing and were served cold. First and last time for us even though it was highly recommended.

MY REVIEW: I have just moved to Texas from Canada but am of Polish descent and have been looking for a place to get Polish food. I am thrilled to have found this restaurant (and the shop next door). The food was fabulous! I had the potatoe pancakes "goral" style, which meant that the pancake was folded over with a delicious goulash style meat that was so well prepared it practically melts in your mouth. I brought my fiance and his parents too, and they really enjoyed the cabbage rolls and the perogies. Oh, and did I mention that they have some mouthwatering "flaki"!! The service was great, the food superb and the ambiance was warm and inviting. We live near Beaumont but it was definitely worth the trip and one will be making often now!

MY REVIEW: An amazing oasis in a changing neighborhood -- well worth the drive from anywhere in Houston. The staff makes you feel like family the minute you walk in the door, they answer any questions about the menu/food, the tap beer is cold, good and cheap and the portions worthy of Houston. The braised pork shank is plenty for two to share -- and don't miss an order of potato pancakes! My Polish grandma Boosha would be so pleased! Get out of your comfort zone and try something new and different. If you go for lunch, stop in the Polish grocery store right next door and take home some of the best fresh kielbasa EVER.
