Cafe Goo Goo Yen

MY REVIEW: The food was excellent, but the service was less than accomodating. I asked to be seated at the table at the window (which was one table over from where she wanted to put me), and I was told that "she wasn't sure if the restaurant would fill up or not, and it would be difficult to serve me." She wasn't even nice about it. I am sure at 5:00 pm and with the restaurant 90% empty , that the likelihood it is going to fill up and make serving me there uncomfortable at zero. LOL. It was a lame reason, but oh well. It was enough that we decided not to go back. :-)
Additionally, we were never refilled on our drinks, the waitress was too busy gabbing with the only other table occupied at the time. She apparently knew them and completely ignored us. It's really too bad, and in the meantime I have found another Chinese place that is A+++ all the way around.

MY REVIEW: Yeah sure the food is good but VERY poor service. If you're in line waiting to pay and it's 4pm (when their lunch special ends) they will charge you for the dinner. I dont think that is fair. Another time the lady messed up my order and had the audacity to say it was my fault, never once did she apologize, just plain rude. But if you avoid her, the restuarant is alright. The food is good.

MY REVIEW: Hands down the best Chinese food in Sugar Land or even Houston. My husband and I drive from The Woodlands to eat at Cafe Goo Goo Yen. The food is excellent, veggies are always fresh and the service is friendly and efficient. Plus, they have dinner specials similar to the lunch specials with soup, rice and spring roll included. Highly recommended.

MY REVIEW: The food is this restuarants strong point. However the service is terrible. Myself and two of my coworkers went to eat lunch and were waiting quite a long time. After we saw the majority of the people who came in after us, some in bigger parties than ours, we asked the waiter how much longer our food would be because we had to get back to work. The waiter informed us that if we were in a hurry we should have gone to M*cDonalds. This was the rudest thing I believe I have ever heard in a restuarant and as such will never return to the establishment.

MY REVIEW: This is a nicely decorated and well done restaurant. This being said, I will not return. During my last visit I needed to show a business colleague something on my laptop computer (the place was empty is was late afternoon) and the women behind the counter did not want me to plug in my computer as she was concerned that it used too much electricity. I pass this restaurant everyday on my way home from work and often wonder how much electricity it would have taken to review three Power Point slides. I suppose I learned to always keep my laptop battery charged.

MY REVIEW: This place has very good food. We ordered from here once and everyone liked the food so much, this has become our weekly dinner choice for our Bible Study class. No complaints and we keep going back.

MY REVIEW: The best Chinese you can find in the Sugar Land Area! We frequent at least once every other week and agree, when the question comes us for the family, "where do you want to eat," we're always content with going to Goo Goo Yen. My wife always enjoys the fresh steamed vegies (ask for extra fresh ginger) and one of my all-time favorites is to ask for their pan-fried house-special noodles. The service is perfect and the staff are the best!

MY REVIEW: My wife and I have frequented this place the past year as much as possible (2-3 times a month); I have been spoiled by the quality food served here, nothing but fresh ingredients makes other chinese restaurants simply unacceptable. We've never found a bad dish. Most surpsingly, since it is a lunch time haunt for most, our Friday evening dinners are always wonderfully quiet even with the two kids in tow. The staff knows us by name (ask for Sherry). Every time my wife and I get into one of those cell phone conversations of "I don't know, where do you want to eat tonight," this place is always the trump card.
Truly, if you want quality chinese dining in a comfortable place, I haven't found better.

MY REVIEW: We celebrated my brother's birthday here this year. The food is fantastic and the service is even better. I enjoy the homely atmosphere and the sincere fortune cookies. I used to work at a Chinese restaurant in San Fransico and this certainly ranks with the top of the tops -- one of the best hidden gems in first colony.

MY REVIEW: Not a bad place at all. Service was mediocre and the lunch portions could be a little bit biggger. We had four people in our party and we all had empty drink glasses on our table after we finished our meal. Needless to say, the server could have come by to refill our drinks at least one last time after we paid, or at least asked if we wanted a refill on our water/teas. Food tasted good though, i will give them that! I would come again for dinner.

MY REVIEW: This is an excellent little restaurant. The service is very friendly, very timely, hot, fresh, prices are good, and most of all the food was great. This was our second visit and we have been very satisfied both times. You can order from the main menu (e.g. white meat, red meat...) or just go to the back of the menu and get the lunch or dinner combo which includes soup, spring roll (appetizer), and entree. We will definitely go back - soon - and try a different dish.

MY REVIEW: The restaurant was a great find for my husband and I. The service was excellent. Everything we ordered was delivered with great timing and was served hot. I really liked the fact that it was served family style. The food was wonderful.
The atomshpere was nice. No screaming kids. You could actually carry on a conversation without yelling to each other. I would definitely recommend it. I will also be returning.
