The greens, I did not like. They taste like sugar had been added. That's a taste that makes me ill. The smothered porkchops were good. The price was fair. If you add up the food, time to cook it, and electricity used. You do get your money's worth. I wish them much success. But please, if you are using sugar in those greens stop. Heard that the food was great but the call in to the restraunt on my visit was returned with a very rude response. I was in town and was told to visit and called to find the hours of operations and was told, "The same as every day". Unfortunately, I did not feel the need to drive that far for that rude awakening over the phone and could recieve it upon my visit. I know it is not much to lose one customer but maybe the next time when I am in a better frame of mind. Oh yeah, once I got to a computer, I do know the times but in an airport, a computer is just not that handy and the cost of paying for the 1-411 call. The ox tails are great and so are the chitterlings. I'm not fond of the collard's but the yams are awsome. MY REVIEW: First visit - I picked the wrong day (Sunday, after church). The lines were too long, however I have to say they did have two lines, one for "to go" orders and one for dine in. So that helped. I said because the lines were so long, I would not return. But after tasting the food, all I could say is "when I return to Houston, I must return to this restaurant. I eat out on a regular basis and I have tried numerous other soul food restaurants in Houston. This place has all of them beat by far. The food is excellent and the prices are cheap compared to other places. And the sweet tea is the "bomb"!!! The only complaint I have is the attitude of the employees. They are not very friendly at all and they tend to talk to the customers in a derogatory manner. There were five in our party and we all left with a satifaction for JOSF's food that is almost indescribable.
