MY REVIEW: Il Me Jung is hands down the best Korean place in town!! Some of the other reviews complained of high prices, but you can eat for $12-$15 per person and be totally stuffed. The portions are HUGE and the food is fresh! This is not a fast food restaurant! All of the Korean "locals" come here, and it is a very authentic experience.

Not to worry, though, it only LOOKS like a dive from the outside (think of it as a little character). Totally clean and warm on the inside. If you ask me, I would be worried if it were in a brand new strip center!

Starve yourself before you go so you can finish all the delicious side dishes they bring you!

MY REVIEW: The food is a little pricey $13.95 & up for one entree dish, but you get 6 or 7 side dishes with each entree. The marinated beef, shrimp, & squid was very good. The restaurant looks a little run down from the outside, but the inside is dark & cozy. I would definitely bring some family & friends to eat here again on a special occasion.

MY REVIEW: The dishes and small sides are too greasy each time I visited. There are other good restaurants nearby that I'd rather go to.

MY REVIEW: Best Korean Food in town. It looks like a run-down shack from the outside, but inside, they've make it light and bright (despite not having any windows in the dining area). We ordered Oyster Pancake (Delicious!), Seafood Tofu Soup (best I've ever had), and Bim-Bim-Bap (Fabulous!). These dishes were sooo satisfying on such cold winter night. The staff is a bit curt, so know what you want when they ask! I can't wait to go back again!

MY REVIEW: used to have decent service here, but has sucked lately. food is good, but not worth the rudeness. get all bent out of shape if you don't order at least one meat per person and charge you for extra sides. won't be coming back. anyone know of a good/affordable korean bbq that serves good kalbee?

MY REVIEW: I was real skeptical about this joint because it looked real crappy and I was like omg why is my bestfriend taking me here. Anyways it was real nice inside abd the service was good. It's a bit pricey for orietal food but I enjoyed the soup I ordered( I forgot the name but it had rice patties cakes, eggs, green onions and beef airloin) It was big and real hot just like I LIKE it) Anyways nice joint.

MY REVIEW: I have just acquired a fabulous Korean hair stylist who after discovering my identity gave me the 411 in Korean food. I have travelled the world and eaten in all kinds of places and much to my amazement, I had never been to a Korean joint. I would have never gone if she had not explained and recommended, as I am going to do to you. It seems that there are only a few Korean restaurants in Houston, most of them in close proximity around Long Point and Gessner.

So, we arrive. Hole in the wall on the outside, but very clean and nicely done on the inside. The one line skinny on Korean food. Every table has got a grill in the middle and you, with your server's help, get to cook your own food. They provide you all the trimmings etc. It is cool. Man, we had a fun time. We walked out of there having consumed hardly any carbs and mostly protein and lettuce. Think of creating your own lettuce wraps with crispy lettuce, bean paste and whatever you choose to cook. We went a little wild and for your benefit cooked up 2 different kinds of boneless ribs (yes, I said boneless ribs... I am in the culinary business and there is no way I can do that), sliced beef sirloin and boneless chicken. The shrimp looked really appetizing too.

Our waitress brought all this food pre-marinated, turned on our grill and put the first batch of meats on the grill, left us with the tongs and told us that since the meats are thinly sliced, do not over cook. And while we were grilling, sitting at our table, came the side dishes: Seaweed (yuck), Pickled cucumber (ok), pickled radish (yuck yuck), spinach (ok), Fish cake (good), Sauteed Tofu (rocked), Rice (awesome).

The waitress was very attentive and guided us into taking a piece of lettuce, applying a little bean paste (do not taste by itself... much better with the whole package), adding a spoonful of rice and your chosen meat and taco away. It was healthy, clean, filling and fun. As far as the side dishes, you are supposed to take bite of the rice and with each bite choose a different side dish.

II would get a few Korean barbeque dishes and share. And for some reason I thought this place would be really cheap. It wasn't; expect to pay $10 to $15 average for an entree.

Tip for the soup lovers: We tried 3 different kinds which came in family sized bowls The theme was similar, all good but let's just stay I wouldn't serve in my restaurant because the soups were in an "acquired taste category." Eat at your palate's risk.

All in all, great experience, very interactive. I really recommend to first dates and people that love different experiences. Fun place to go with another couple.

One last note, the menu had an English translation and the staff were very helpful and we had no communication problems.
