MY REVIEW: Shearn's and their staff offer some of the best service I've ever experienced. I proposed to my girlfriend at dinner at Shearn's and Franco our waiter was on top of all the details I had planned out, excellent service and the food is absolutely incredible.

MY REVIEW: We arrived 15 minutes prior to what I believed was a 6pm reservation for five people. Though many tables were available at that time and we had booked a private cruise around the lake later that evening, the manager could not get us seated because I did not know the name of the person making the reservation. The treatment was quite rude and my Aunt's 76th birthday began very poorly.
The claim for that Monday evening was that they were fully booked. We were dressed "dressy casual" as requested on the website. Then having to eat in the Garden restaurant later, we were overdressed. The bad taste left in my mouth from being so improperly treated makes me want to advise all others from even trying an evening there. The manager has no personal skills for this job. I feel sorry for the owner.

MY REVIEW: Shearn's Restaurant, without doubt, is the best place for fine dining on the island. The executive chef -Urs Schmid- has been locally called the best-kept secret in Texas for many years with his rigorous European training. All of the staff is career quality with exceptional skills, great wine recommendations, and prompt and thorough service. Great place for business, special occasions, and intimate dining without the kids. The bar adjacent to the restaurant has a very impressive panoramic view from the top floor of Moody Gardens Hotel overlooking Galveston Bay with twenty-foot floor to ceiling windows. On weekends music is usually offered in the bar to add to the enjoyment of your dining pleasure. I would recommend for anyone to take advantage of the hotel's valet parking and make reservations for dining. My only suggestion would be for an increase in wine variety to include more small production wineries. This is a pricey place well worth the experience and ambience.
