MY REVIEW: This restauraunt is truly a diamond in the rough! The decor is stunning and the staff is friendly and professional. The tuna appetizer and the spicy and tangy chicken is to die for. I even fell in love at the bar!!

MY REVIEW: I cannot tell you what we liked best. The decor, the service, and the food were spectacular. I ordered the beef short ribs and did not even need the knife, the meat just fell of the bone it was so tender. My husband had to restrain himself from licking the plate of the General Tso's Chicken. We will certainly be going back.

MY REVIEW: Took my wife there for our anniversary. I ordered flowers for the table through the online reservation. When we walked in, the maitre d' addressed us by name (he's never seen me),and we were escorted to our table, the flowers were there. The waiter was very friendly in that sort of familiar but professional way. I was a little disappointed in the menu selections-- until he told us the specials! All quite intricate and interesting; we had a hard time deciding. Service was great. They brought us a dessert with a candle, without being asked (well, it was on the bill, too). All our dishes were excellent-- my coconut prawns special a little less so than my wife's scallops. Soups, salads and appetizers excellent. Our only complaint is that the noise level was way out of proportion to the elegance of the decor.

MY REVIEW: First time check out the place. Nice restaurant wonderful decor, but the food was awful. I was there for lunch, order their noodle Jadeite (#21 on the menu list) house special. It was so salty that I couldn't eat. I told the waiter about it and he doesn't care and of course he still charge me for that. The service was also awful, the only thing good about the place was the decors. I don't think I can recommend this place to anyone.

MY REVIEW: On this night at least, Cafe le Jadeite was the finest restaurant in Houston. The decor is first class, but the service is even better. Our waiter, Vince, is the best I've seen in probably 40 years: professional and attentive to every detail, yet understated, friendly, relaxed and effortless. You will feel like royalty.
We were a party of eight on our first visit, ranging in age from 25 to 80. All are seasoned travelers who have visited restaurants all over the world. We're not shy about trading dishes and the portions here are generous so we all tried everything - and everything was excellent. The Ahi tuna appetizer is the best any of us have ever ordered. Frankly, it's boring in most places, but they crust it here in pepper and add a wasabi and reduced onion sauce that makes all the difference. The escargot and shrimp appetizers were also very good. Their filet was served with large salt and pepper shrimp and an excellent sauce, but the lamb tenderloins were even better. The "short" ribs look like dinosaur bones and marinate all day in Chianti. They're great - and huge. If you like sweet dishes you'll love them.
On the seafood side, their scallops in frangelica were the big hits of the table, but the shrimp with caviar was also first class. The Chilean sea bass was also excellent - served with shrimps and a scallop in a light cream sauce.
We tried a dessert sampler for the entire table ($30) It included 5 or 6 desserts that were all good. The homemade rasberry sorbet was refreshing and delicious but the bread pudding was the best any of have ever tasted (and, yes, half of us are from New Orleans!)
This is not the least expensive place in town but you'll probably leave feeling that you received great value. We paid about $50 per person including some drinks, appetizers and wine. This is one of the rare places where you will actually feel good about tipping generously so expect a total bill of about $60 to $65 per person.
We've spent special occasions as a group at M*arks, B*enjy's, T*ony's and other very good restaurants but Cafe le Jadeite is now our favorite.

MY REVIEW: This is such a special place. I have eaten here several times. The service is so great. The food could not be better. I have never had a better martini! Houston is so lucky to have such a special place to dine. I was a guest this time. What a treat!

MY REVIEW: Wonderful service, friendly staff, great food. Very reasonable for lunch, a little pricey for dinner, but worth the cost. Everything on the menu is wonderful, tasty, and the presentation is as entertaining as the food.

MY REVIEW: I had my dad's 75th birthday party here and it could not have gone better. Our waiter Joe delivered excellent service for our large party. Sam, the manager, was helpful in the planning. Food was great (beef dishes and fish de jour especially) and the interior is gorgeous.

MY REVIEW: Went here for lunch for the first time. Party of 3, all ordered different soups and lunches. One order was messed up but they brought out the right one very quickly. Everything was excellent. I had the general's chicken; the pieces were pretty large which made me think they'd be dry, but the were very good. Not too spicey so if you're into that, order it extra spicey. We all enjoyed our soups. Service was great. Plan on going back for dinner soon.

MY REVIEW: I went here for my birthday dinner with my family (we had 15 people there) and the service over all was impecible. I had the rack of lamb with black mission figs and it was honestly some of the best I have ever had. Cooked to a perfect medium rare. My appitizer was scallops in a sesame sauce over a bed of seafood risotto. The scallops were large and tender. Absolutly perfect. We each tend to get a different item and everyone enjoyed them greatly.
The only minor spot on the night was their knowledge of wines. I asked for a desert port (antique tawny) and what I got was a grappa. I had never had this so I thought I would give it a try. Very suprising if you are expecting something similar to an Antique Tawny port. Other than that is was very good evening.

MY REVIEW: First of all I must say that the decor is beautiful. Most everything I have tried has been first rate. You simply must try the Beef Short Ribs, to die for. The only disappointment.. the wine list is Terrible. There are a few good choices by the bottle, but the wines by the glass list is pathetic (we are talking Chi*li's quality.)

MY REVIEW: Excellent duck dishes, and a good variety of both appetisers and entrees. Our server, Staci, was able to recommend wines to a table of 4 - 2 with fish dishes, one with a salad, and one with a duck entree - one bottle of a white for the "lighter" entrees, and a Chilean red (by the glass) for the duck. A wonderful evening.

MY REVIEW: This was a first visit for me and my husband on our anniversary We had read about it several times. The ambiance was great with impeccable service. We had a great location to view Theresa on the piano. The food was presented well with dishes from won ton soup to osso buco. My husband had the King Salmon dish which was excellent and moist. I had the pan fried shrimp with great sauces. The chocolate cannelloni was yummy. The only complaint was the much too high price for wine. It was $10 above the highest priced restaurant in Houston per bottle. They have an incredible happy hour and I'm sure they make 'lotsa moola' to pay for this place.

MY REVIEW: this place is fantastic. I love chinese food, but i am really picky about the meat cheap places use. The meat they use in all of their dishes is the best quality- and i refuse to eat chinese anywhere else. I highly recommend general tso's, sesame chicken and mongolian beef for anyone who wants to eat chinese. The other dishes are outstanding (we have probably eaten the entire menu) and i sometimes hate to go to dinner anywhere else. Service can be a little less then satisfactory if you go on a busy night... but i would say that is the same with most restaurants. The staff do the best they can. Make reservations and you have to go there for special occasions. The ambience is wonderful. YOU WILL LOVE IT!!

MY REVIEW: I LOVE this place! I have been there so many times I've lost count! I generally go for lunch because it is close to downtown. The decor is great and prices are good for lunch. The food is awesome, with quality beyond compare (and I have dined at some very fancy places). It was surprising to me that I like it so much since I have never been into Chinese food much. I have taken so many others to this place you would think I have stock in it. Thumbs up!

MY REVIEW: Cafe le Jadeite is an experience, not just a place to dine. The sauces, presentation and entrees are excellent. I HIGHLY recommend the avocado prawn appetizer and the pumpkin seafood soup. Our waiter was accommodating but at no point did we feel like we were rushed. That has been my experience each time I go there...the waiters are knowledgeable about the wine list and the unique sauces but leave us alone to have a quiet dinner.
By the way, I occasionally read the reviews on this board to see if others have a similar experience as I did to a particular restaurant. Most of the time, the reviews are similar except for this restaurant. The earlier posts who compared it to Chinese take-out are dead wrong. If what they wanted was take-out food and are not willing to spend a few extra dollars for quality food and an unforgettable experience ...then perhaps stay at home and order Hunan. But I will be back and will continue to introduce the restaurant to clients and colleagues.

MY REVIEW: My family has eaten at this fantastic restaurant quite a few times and it has ALWAYS been outstanding. Whenever our children come in from out of town it is the place to go. From the time you arrive to the time you leave, you are treated special. The staff is attentive but not annoying. The presentation of the food is only exceeded by the quality of it. Whatever we have ordered it has been absolutely delicious. Family favorite is the Avocado Prawn Cocktail appetizer. We have enjoyed this restaurant so much that we had our company Christmas party there. To a person, 90% were first time diners, they all said they will return. You WILL be in for a wonderful dining experience.

MY REVIEW: I completely agree with a previous review. This is overpriced Chinese takeout on fancy dishes. The prices wouldn't have seemed so outrageous, if the food warranted them. Spicy and Tangy chicken entree was just plain boring! This place should focus making a statement with some inventive dishes, rather than focusing all the attention on the decor.
